< Matthew 15 >

1 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Yeshua from Jerusalem, saying,
ⲁ̅ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁⲩϯⲡⲉⲩⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓ ⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛϭⲓϩⲉⲛⲥⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲙⲛϩⲉⲛⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲥⲟⲗⲩⲙⲁ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ.
2 “Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat bread.”
ⲃ̅ϫⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲕⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲥⲉⲡⲁⲣⲁⲃⲁ ⲛⲧⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲟⲥⲓⲥ ⲛⲛⲉⲡⲣⲉⲥⲃⲩⲧⲉⲣⲟⲥ. ⲛⲥⲉⲉⲓⲱ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲛⲉⲩϭⲓϫ ⲉⲩⲛⲁⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲙⲡⲉⲩⲟⲉⲓⲕ.
3 He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?
ⲅ̅ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲟⲩ ϩⲱⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲁⲣⲁⲃⲁ ⲛⲧⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲟⲥⲓⲥ.
4 For God commanded, ‘Honour your father and your mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’
ⲇ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲧⲁⲓⲉⲡⲉⲕⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲙⲛⲧⲉⲕⲙⲁⲁⲩ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁϫⲉⲡⲉⲑⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲥⲁⲡⲉϥⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲙⲛⲧⲉϥⲙⲁⲁⲩ ϩⲛⲟⲩⲙⲟⲩ ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥⲙⲟⲩ.
5 But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,”
ⲉ̅ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲏ ⲧⲉϥⲙⲁⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲱⲣⲟⲛ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲕⲛⲁϯϩⲏⲩ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧ.
6 he shall not honour his father or mother.’ You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.
ⲋ̅ⲛⲉϥⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲉⲓⲱⲧ. ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲥⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲟⲥⲓⲥ.
7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
ⲍ̅ⲛϩⲩⲡⲟⲕⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲕⲁⲗⲱⲥ ⲁϥⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϩⲁⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲛϭⲓⲏⲥⲁⲓⲁⲥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ.
8 ‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honour me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
ⲏ̅ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛⲛⲉⲩⲥⲡⲟⲧⲟⲩ. ⲡⲉⲩϩⲏⲧ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲩⲏⲩ ⲛⲥⲁⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ.
9 And they worship me in vain, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’”
ⲑ̅ⲉⲩϣⲙϣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ⲉⲡϫⲓⲛϫⲏ. ⲉⲩϯⲥⲃⲱ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲥⲃⲱ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ.
10 He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand.
ⲓ̅ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲟⲓ.
11 That which enters into the mouth doesn’t defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲃⲏⲕ ⲁⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲧⲧⲁⲡⲣⲟ ⲡⲉⲧⲥⲱⲱϥ ⲙⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛⲧⲧⲁⲡⲣⲟ ⲡⲉⲧⲥⲱⲱϥ ⲙⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ.
12 Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁⲩϯⲡⲉⲩⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϭⲓⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲕⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲛⲉⲓϣⲁϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲥⲕⲁⲛⲇⲁⲗⲓⲍⲉ.
13 But he answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father didn’t plant will be uprooted.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲧⲱϭⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲙⲡⲉⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲧϩⲛⲙⲡⲏⲩⲉ ⲧⲟϭϥ ϥⲛⲁⲡⲱⲣⲕ.
14 Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲗⲱⲧⲛ ϩⲁⲣⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲉⲛϫⲁⲩⲙⲟⲉⲓⲧ ⲛⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲛⲉ. ⲟⲩⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛϫⲓⲙⲟⲉⲓⲧ ϩⲏⲧϥ ⲛⲟⲩⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲥⲉⲛⲁϩⲉ ⲉⲩϩⲓⲉⲓⲧ ⲙⲡⲉⲥⲛⲁⲩ.
15 Peter answered him, “Explain the parable to us.”
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲃⲱⲗ ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ⲛⲧⲡⲁⲣⲁⲃⲟⲗⲏ.
16 So Yeshua said, “Do you also still not understand?
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲙⲏ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ϩⲱⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϩⲉⲛⲁⲑⲏⲧ.
17 Don’t you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly and then out of the body?
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲙⲏ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲟⲓ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲕⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲧⲧⲁⲡⲣⲟ. ⲛϣⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲑⲏ ⲛⲥⲉⲧⲁⲩⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙⲡⲙⲁ ⲛⲉⲣⲙⲏ.
18 But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲏⲩ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛⲧⲧⲁⲡⲣⲟ. ⲉⲩⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙⲡϩⲏⲧ. ⲛⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲉⲧⲥⲱⲱϥ ⲙⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ.
19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲉⲩⲛⲏⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙⲡϩⲏⲧ ⲛϭⲓⲙⲙⲟⲕⲙⲉⲕ ⲉⲑⲟⲟⲩ. ϩⲉⲛϩⲱⲧⲃ. ϩⲉⲛⲙⲛⲧⲛⲟⲉⲓⲕ. ϩⲉⲛⲡⲟⲣⲛⲓⲁ. ϩⲉⲛϫⲓⲟⲩⲉ. ϩⲉⲛⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉ ⲛⲛⲟⲩϫ. ⲛⲟⲩⲁ.
20 These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn’t defile the man.”
ⲕ̅ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲉⲧⲥⲱⲱϥ ⲙⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ. ⲉⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲕⲉⲓⲁⲧⲟⲟⲧⲕ ⲛϥⲥⲱⲱϥ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ.
21 Yeshua went out from there and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁϥⲁⲛⲁⲭⲱⲣⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲙⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲛⲧⲩⲣⲟⲥ ⲙⲛⲥⲓⲇⲱⲛ.
22 Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders and cried, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David! My daughter is severely possessed by a demon!”
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲉⲓⲥϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲉⲓⲥⲟⲩⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲛⲭⲁⲛⲁⲛⲁⲓⲁ ⲁⲥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛⲛⲧⲟϣ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ. ⲁⲥϫⲓϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲁ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲇⲁⲩⲉⲓⲇ ⲧⲁϣⲉⲉⲣⲉ ϩⲓⲧⲉ ⲉⲙⲁⲧⲉ.
23 But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away; for she cries after us.”
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲛⲁⲥ ⲛⲟⲩϣⲁϫⲉ. ⲁⲩϯⲡⲉⲩⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϭⲓⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲁⲩⲥⲡⲥⲱⲡϥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ. ϫⲉ ⲕⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⲥϫⲓϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲡⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟⲛ.
24 But he answered, “I wasn’t sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲧ(ⲛ)ⲛⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲉⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲉⲓⲙⲏⲧⲉⲓ ⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲥⲱⲣⲙ ⲛⲧⲉⲡⲏⲓ ⲙⲡⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲗ̅.
25 But she came and worshipped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲛⲧⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲥϯⲡⲉⲥⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲥⲟⲩⲱϣⲧ ⲛⲁϥ ⲉⲥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ. ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲃⲟⲏⲑⲉⲓⲁ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ.
26 But he answered, “It is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ. ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲉϫⲓ ⲙⲡⲟⲉⲓⲕ ⲛⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲉⲛⲟⲩϫⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲛⲉⲩϩⲟⲟⲣ.
27 But she said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ⲛⲧⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲥⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ. ⲛⲕⲉⲟⲩϩⲟⲟⲣ ϣⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛⲛⲉⲥⲣⲉϥⲣⲓⲃⲉ ⲉⲧϩⲏⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛⲧⲉⲧⲣⲁⲡⲉⲍⲁ ⲛⲛⲉⲩϫⲓⲥⲟⲟⲩⲉ.
28 Then Yeshua answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ. ϫⲉ ⲱ ⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲟⲩⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲙⲁⲣⲉⲥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲏ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲁϣⲥ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲥⲗⲟ ⲛϭⲓⲧⲉⲥϣⲉⲉⲣⲉ ϫⲓⲛⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ.
29 Yeshua departed from there and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up on the mountain and sat there.
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲡⲱⲱⲛⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛϭⲓⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉϫⲛⲑⲁⲗⲁⲥⲥⲁ ⲛⲧⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲁⲓⲁ. ⲁϥⲁⲗⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲙⲡⲧⲟⲟⲩ. ⲁϥϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ϩⲙⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ.
30 Great multitudes came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,
ⲗ̅ⲁⲩϯⲡⲉⲩⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϭⲓϩⲉⲛⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲉⲛⲁϣⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲁⲩⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛϩⲛⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲙⲛϩⲉⲛϭⲁⲗⲉ. ⲙⲛϩⲉⲛⲙⲡⲟ. ⲙⲛϩⲉⲛϭⲁⲛⲁϩ. ⲙⲛϩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲛⲁϣⲱⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲛⲟϫⲟⲩ ϩⲁⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲧⲉ.
31 so that the multitude wondered when they saw the mute speaking, the injured healed, the lame walking, and the blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel.
ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲛⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲣϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ⲉⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲛϭⲁⲗⲉ ⲉⲩⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲙⲛⲛϭⲁⲛⲁϩ ⲉⲩⲧⲁⲗϭⲏⲩ ⲙⲛⲛⲉⲙⲡⲟ ⲉⲩϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲛⲛⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲉⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϯⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲗ̅.
32 Yeshua summoned his disciples and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have continued with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way.”
ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ϯϣⲛϩⲧⲏⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲙⲡⲉⲓⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲥϣⲟⲙⲛⲧ ⲛϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲥⲉϭⲉⲉⲧ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲛⲧⲁⲩ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲟⲩⲟⲙϥ. ⲛϯⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲕⲁⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲩϩⲕⲁⲉⲓⲧ. ⲙⲏⲡⲟⲧⲉ ⲛⲥⲉϣⲱⲥⲙ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛⲧⲉϩⲓⲏ.
33 The disciples said to him, “Where could we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a multitude?”
ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛϭⲓⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲛⲁϩⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲓⲁϣⲏ ⲛⲟⲉⲓⲕ ⲧⲱⲛ ϩⲙⲡⲉⲓϫⲁⲓⲉ ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲥⲓⲉⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲓϭⲟⲧ.
34 Yeshua said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”
ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛϭⲓⲓ̅ⲥ̅. ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩⲏⲣ ⲛⲟⲉⲓⲕ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ. ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲥⲁϣϥ ⲙⲛϩⲉⲛϣⲏⲙ ⲛⲧⲏⲃⲧ.
35 He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;
ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ⲁϥⲡⲁⲣⲁⲅⲅⲉⲓⲗⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲩⲛⲟϫⲟⲩ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲙⲡⲕⲁϩ.
36 and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.
ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ⲁϥϫⲓ ⲙⲡⲥⲁϣϥ ⲛⲟⲉⲓⲕ ⲙⲛⲛⲧⲏⲃⲧ ⲁϥϣⲡϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⲁϥⲡⲟϣⲟⲩ ⲁϥϯ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ. ⲙⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩϯ ⲛⲙⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ.
37 They all ate and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.
ⲗ̅ⲍ̅ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲥⲉⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲩϥⲓ ⲙⲡⲉϩⲟⲩⲟ ⲛⲛⲗⲁⲕⲙ ⲥⲁϣϥ ⲛⲃⲓⲣ ⲉⲩⲙⲉϩ.
38 Those who ate were four thousand men, in addition to women and children.
ⲗ̅ⲏ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲩⲛⲁⲣⲁϥⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲛϣⲟ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲭⲱⲣⲓⲥ ϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ϩⲓⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ.
39 Then he sent away the multitudes, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.
ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲕⲱ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲙⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲁϥⲁⲗⲉ ⲉⲡϫⲟⲓ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲱϣ ⲙⲙⲁⲅⲉⲇⲁⲛ.
