Luke 7
1 After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
彼は話を民に聞かせ終わると，カペルナウムに入って行った。
2 A certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death.
一人の百人隊長の召使いで，彼にとって大切な者が，病気で死にかかっていた。
3 When he heard about Yeshua, he sent to him Jewish elders, asking him to come and save his servant.
彼はイエスについて聞くと，そのもとにユダヤ人の長老たちを遣わし，やって来て自分の召使いを救ってくれるよう，彼に頼んだ。
4 When they came to Yeshua, they begged him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy for you to do this for him,
イエスのもとに来ると，彼らは彼に真剣に懇願して言った，「あの方は，このことをしていただくのにふさわしい人です。
5 for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us.”
わたしたちの民族を愛して，わたしたちのために会堂を建ててくれたのです」。
6 Yeshua went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof.
イエスは彼らと共に出かけた。彼がその家からあまり遠くない所まで来た時，その百人隊長は友人たちを彼のもとに遣わして，彼に言った，「主よ，お手数をかけるには及びません。わたしは自分の屋根の下にあなたをお迎えするほどの者ではないからです。
7 Therefore I didn’t even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed.
そのために，あなたのもとに伺うことさえふさわしくないと思ったのです。むしろ，お言葉を下さい。そうすればわたしの召使いはいやされるでしょう。
8 For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
というのも，わたしも権威の下に置かれた者ですが，わたしの下にも兵士たちがいます。わたしがある者に『行け！』と言えば行きますし，別の者に『来い！』と言えば来ます。またわたしの召使いに『これをしろ』と言えばそれをします」。
9 When Yeshua heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned and said to the multitude who followed him, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel.”
イエスはこれらの事柄を聞くと，彼について驚嘆し，自分に従っている者たちに言った，「あなた方に告げるが，イスラエルにおいて，わたしはこれほどの信仰を見いだしたことがない」 。
10 Those who were sent, returning to the house, found that the servant who had been sick was well.
遣わされた者たちがその家に戻ってくると，病気であった召使いがよくなっているのを見た。
11 Soon afterwards, he went to a city called Nain. Many of his disciples, along with a great multitude, went with him.
その後すぐ，彼はナインと呼ばれる町に行った。大勢の弟子たちと大群衆が彼に伴っていた。
12 Now when he came near to the gate of the city, behold, one who was dead was carried out, the only born son of his mother, and she was a widow. Many people of the city were with her.
彼が町の門に近づくと，見よ，死んだ者が運び出されるところであった。それは，やもめである母親の一人息子であった。大勢の町の人々が彼女と共にいた。
13 When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Don’t cry.”
主は彼女を見ると，彼女に対して哀れみを抱き，彼女に言った， 「泣いてはいけない」。
14 He came near and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I tell you, arise!”
近づいてひつぎに触れると，運んでいる者たちは立ち止まった。彼は言った，「若者よ，あなたに告げる，起きなさい！」
15 He who was dead sat up and began to speak. Then he gave him to his mother.
死んでいた者は起き直り，ものを言い始めた。そしてイエスは彼をその母に渡した。
16 Fear took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen amongst us!” and, “God has visited his people!”
みんなは恐れを抱き，神に栄光をささげて言った，「偉大な預言者がわたしたちの間に起こされた！」 また，「神はその民に目を向けてくださった！」
17 This report went out concerning him in the whole of Judea and in all the surrounding region.
彼に関するこの知らせは，ユダヤ全土および周囲の全地域に出て行った。
18 The disciples of Yochanan told him about all these things.
ヨハネの弟子たちは，これらすべてのことについてヨハネに告げた。
19 Yochanan, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to Yeshua, saying, “Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for another?”
ヨハネは自分の弟子のうちの二人を呼び寄せ，彼らをイエスのもとに遣わして，「あなたが来たるべき方なのですか。それとも，わたしたちはほかの方を待つべきでしょうか」と言わせた。
20 When the men had come to him, they said, “Yochanan the Immerser has sent us to you, saying, ‘Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?’”
その者たちはイエスのもとに来て言った，「バプテスマを施す人ヨハネがわたしたちをあなたのもとに遣わして，『あなたが来たるべき方なのですか。それとも，わたしたちはほかの方を待つべきでしょうか』と申しました」。
21 In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight.
その時に，彼は疾患や伝染病や悪い霊から多くの人をいやし，目の見えない多くの人に視力を与えていた。
22 Yeshua answered them, “Go and tell Yochanan the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.
イエスは彼らに答えた，「行って，あなた方が見聞きしている事柄をヨハネに告げなさい。目の見えない人たちは見えるようになり，足の不自由な人たちは歩き，らい病の人たちは清められ，耳の聞こえない人たちは聞き，死んだ人たちは生き返らされ，貧しい人たちには良いたよりが宣教されている。
23 Blessed is he who finds no occasion for stumbling in me.”
わたしに背かない者は幸いだ」 。
24 When Yochanan’s messengers had departed, he began to tell the multitudes about Yochanan, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
ヨハネの使いの者たちが去って行くと，彼は群衆にヨハネについてこう告げ始めた。「あなた方は何を見るために荒野へ出て行ったのか。風に揺れるアシか。
25 But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are gorgeously dressed and live delicately are in kings’ courts.
そうでなければ，何を見るために出て行ったのか。柔らかな衣を着た人か。見よ，豪華に装って優美に暮らしている者たちなら王たちの家にいる。
26 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.
そうでなければ，なぜ出て行ったのか。預言者か。そうだ，あなた方に言うが，預言者よりはるかに優れた者だ。
27 This is he of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’
この者こそ，このように書かれている者だ。 『見よ，わたしはあなたの面前にわたしの使者を遣わす。その者はあなたの前に道を整えるだろう』。
28 “For I tell you, amongst those who are born of women there is not a greater prophet than Yochanan the Immerser; yet he who is least in God’s Kingdom is greater than he.”
「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。女から生まれた者の中で，バプテスマを施す人ヨハネより偉大な者はいない。だが，神の王国で最も小さな者も，彼よりは偉大だ」。
29 When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they declared God to be just, having been immersed with Yochanan’s immersion.
すべての民と徴税人たちがそれを聞いた時，彼らは，ヨハネのバプテスマを受けることにより，神の正しさを宣言した。
30 But the Pharisees and the Torah scholars rejected the counsel of God, not being immersed by him themselves.
しかし，ファリサイ人たちと律法の専門家たちは，彼からバプテスマを受けないことにより，神の勧めをはねのけた。
31 “To what then should I compare the people of this generation? What are they like?
しかし主は言った，「わたしはこの世代の人々を何にたとえようか。彼らは何に似ているだろうか。
32 They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another, saying, ‘We piped to you, and you didn’t dance. We mourned, and you didn’t weep.’
彼らは，市場に座って，互いに叫び合っている子供たちに似ている。こう言うのだ，『君たちのために笛を吹いたのに，踊ってくれなかった。君たちのために悲しんだのに，泣いてくれなかった』。
33 For Yochanan the Immerser came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’
というのも，バプテスマを施す人ヨハネがやって来て，パンを食べもせず，ぶどう酒を飲みもしないと，あなた方は，『彼には悪霊がいる』と言う。
34 The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
人の子がやって来て食べたり飲んだりすると，あなた方は，『見ろ，大食いの大酒飲み，徴税人たちや罪人たちの友！』と言う。
35 Wisdom is justified by all her children.”
知恵はその実によって，正しいことが証明されるのだ」。
36 One of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered into the Pharisee’s house and sat at the table.
ファリサイ人たちのうちのある者が，一緒に食事をするよう彼を招いた。彼はそのファリサイ人の家に入り，食卓に着いた。
37 Behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that he was reclining in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster jar of ointment.
見よ，罪人である一人の女がその町にいたが，彼がファリサイ人の家で横になっていると知ると，香油の入った雪花石こうのつぼを持って来た。
38 Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
泣きながら後ろから彼の足もとに進み寄り，自分の涙で彼の両足をぬらし始め，自分の髪でそれらをぬぐい，その両足に口づけし，それらに香油を塗った。
39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner.”
彼を招待したファリサイ人はこれを見て，自分の中で言った，「この人がもし預言者なら，自分に触っているこの者がだれで，どんな女なのか分かるはずだ。罪人だということを」。
40 Yeshua answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” He said, “Rabbi, say on.”
イエスは彼に答えた，「シモン，あなたに言うことがある」 。 彼は言った，「先生，おっしゃってください」。
41 “A certain lender had two debtors. The one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
「ある貸し主に二人の借り主がいた。一人は五百デナリ，もう一人は五十デナリを借りていた。
42 When they couldn’t pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?”
彼らが返済できないので，彼は彼ら両方の借金を帳消しにしてやった。それで，彼らのうちどちらが彼をいちばん多く愛するだろうか」。
43 Simon answered, “He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most.” He said to him, “You have judged correctly.”
シモンは答えた，「いちばん多く許されたほうだと思います」。 イエスは彼に言った，「あなたは正しく判断した」 。
44 Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.
その女のほうを向いて，シモンに言った，「あなたはこの女が目に入るか。わたしがあなたの家に入っても，あなたは足を洗う水をくれなかったが，彼女はわたしの両足をその涙でぬらし，それらをその髪でぬぐった。
45 You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.
あなたはわたしに口づけしてくれなかったが，彼女は，わたしが入って来た時から，わたしの両足に口づけしてやまなかった。
46 You didn’t anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.
あなたはわたしの頭に油を塗ってくれなかったが，彼女はわたしの両足に香油を塗った。
47 Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.”
だから，あなたに告げるが，彼女の多くある罪は許されている。彼女が多く愛したからだ。だが，少ししか許されていない者は，少ししか愛さないのだ」 。
48 He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
彼は彼女に言った，「あなたの罪は許されている」 。
49 Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
彼と共に食卓に着いていた者たちは自分の中で言い始めた，「罪さえ許すこの人はいったいだれなのだろう」。
50 He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”
彼はその女に言った，「あなたの信仰があなたを救ったのだ。平安のうちに行きなさい」 。
