Yochanan 5

1 After these things, there was a Jewish festival, and Yeshua went up to Jerusalem.

Después de estas cosas, hubo una fiesta de los judíos, y Jesús subió a Jerusalén.

2 Now in Jerusalem by the sheep gate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew, “Bethesda”, having five porches.

En Jerusalén, junto a la puerta de las ovejas, hay un estanque llamado en hebreo “Betesda”, que tiene cinco pórticos.

3 In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, or paralysed, waiting for the moving of the water;

En ellos yacía una gran multitud de enfermos, ciegos, cojos o paralíticos, esperando que se moviera el agua;

4 for an angel went down at certain times into the pool and stirred up the water. Whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was healed of whatever disease he had.

porque un ángel bajaba a ciertas horas al estanque y agitaba el agua. El que entraba primero después de agitar el agua quedaba curado de cualquier enfermedad que tuviera.

5 A certain man was there who had been sick for thirty-eight years.

Estaba allí un hombre que llevaba treinta y ocho años enfermo.

6 When Yeshua saw him lying there, and knew that he had been sick for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to be made well?”

Cuando Jesús lo vio allí tendido, y supo que llevaba mucho tiempo enfermo, le preguntó: “¿Quieres ser sano?”

7 The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I’m coming, another steps down before me.”

El enfermo le respondió: “Señor, no tengo a nadie que me meta en la piscina cuando se agita el agua, pero mientras vengo, otro baja antes que yo.”

8 Yeshua said to him, “Arise, take up your mat, and walk.”

Jesús le dijo: “Levántate, toma tu lecho y anda”.

9 Immediately, the man was made well, and took up his mat and walked. Now that day was a Sabbath.

Al instante, el hombre quedó sano, tomó su estera y caminó. Ese día era sábado.

10 So the Judeans said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath. It is not lawful for you to carry the mat.”

Así que los judíos le dijeron al que fue sanado: “Es sábado. No te es lícito llevar el lecho”.

11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your mat and walk.’”

Él les contestó: “El que me sanó me dijo: “Toma tu lecho y camina””.

12 Then they asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your mat and walk’?”

Entonces le preguntaron: “¿Quién es el hombre que te ha dicho: “Toma tu lecho y anda”?”

13 But he who was healed didn’t know who it was, for Yeshua had withdrawn, a crowd being in the place.

Pero el que había sido sanado no sabía quién era, porque Jesús se había retirado, ya que había una multitud en el lugar.

14 Afterward Yeshua found him in the temple and said to him, “Behold, you are made well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you.”

Después, Jesús lo encontró en el templo y le dijo: “Mira, has sido sanado. No peques más, para que no te ocurra nada peor”.

15 The man went away, and told the Judeans that it was Yeshua who had made him well.

El hombre se fue y contó a los judíos que era Jesús quien lo había curado.

16 For this cause the Judeans persecuted Yeshua and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath.

Por eso los judíos perseguían a Jesús y trataban de matarlo, porque hacía estas cosas en sábado.

17 But Yeshua answered them, “My Father is still working, so I am working, too.”

Pero Jesús les respondió: “Mi Padre sigue trabajando, así que yo también trabajo”.

18 For this cause therefore the Judeans sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

Por eso los judíos procuraban matarlo aún más, porque no sólo quebrantaba el sábado, sino que llamaba a Dios su propio Padre, haciéndose igual a Dios.

19 Yeshua therefore answered them, “Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise.

Entonces Jesús les respondió: “Os aseguro que el Hijo no puede hacer nada por sí mismo, sino lo que ve hacer al Padre. Porque todo lo que él hace, también lo hace el Hijo.

20 For the Father has affection for the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does. He will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel.

Porque el Padre tiene afecto por el Hijo, y le muestra todas las cosas que él mismo hace. Le mostrará obras mayores que éstas, para que os maravilléis.

21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires.

Porque como el Padre resucita a los muertos y les da vida, así también el Hijo da vida a quien quiere.

22 For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgement to the Son,

Porque el Padre no juzga a nadie, sino que ha dado todo el juicio al Hijo,

23 that all may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He who doesn’t honour the Son doesn’t honour the Father who sent him.

para que todos honren al Hijo como honran al Padre. El que no honra al Hijo no honra al Padre que lo envió.

24 “Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgement, but has passed out of death into life. (aiōnios g166)

“De cierto os digo que el que oye mi palabra y cree al que me ha enviado tiene vida eterna, y no viene a juicio, sino que ha pasado de la muerte a la vida. (aiōnios g166)

25 Most certainly I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God’s voice; and those who hear will live.

De cierto os digo que viene la hora, y ya es, en que los muertos oirán la voz del Hijo de Dios, y los que la oigan vivirán.

26 For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself.

Porque como el Padre tiene vida en sí mismo, así también le dio al Hijo que tenga vida en sí mismo.

27 He also gave him authority to execute judgement, because he is a son of man.

También le dio autoridad para ejecutar juicio, porque es el Hijo del hombre.

28 Don’t marvel at this, for the hour comes in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice

No os maravilléis de esto, porque viene la hora en que todos los que están en los sepulcros oirán su voz

29 and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgement.

y saldrán; los que han hecho el bien, a la resurrección de la vida; y los que han hecho el mal, a la resurrección del juicio.

30 I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgement is righteous, because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.

Yo no puedo hacer nada por mí mismo. Según oigo, juzgo; y mi juicio es justo, porque no busco mi propia voluntad, sino la voluntad de mi Padre que me ha enviado.

31 “If I testify about myself, my witness is not valid.

“Si yo testifico de mí mismo, mi testimonio no es válido.

32 It is another who testifies about me. I know that the testimony which he testifies about me is true.

Es otro el que testifica de mí. Sé que el testimonio que da sobre mí es verdadero.

33 You have sent to Yochanan, and he has testified to the truth.

Vosotros habéis enviado a Juan, y él ha dado testimonio de la verdad.

34 But the testimony which I receive is not from man. However, I say these things that you may be saved.

Pero el testimonio que yo recibo no proviene de hombre. Sin embargo, digo estas cosas para que seáis salvo.

35 He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.

Él era la lámpara que ardía y brillaba, y vosotros quisisteis regocijaros por un tiempo en su luz.

36 But the testimony which I have is greater than that of Yochanan; for the works which the Father gave me to accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father has sent me.

Pero el testimonio que yo tengo es mayor que el de Juan; porque las obras que el Padre me dio para realizar, las mismas obras que yo hago, dan testimonio de mí, de que el Padre me ha enviado.

37 The Father himself, who sent me, has testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.

El Padre mismo, que me ha enviado, ha dado testimonio de mí. Vosotros nunca habéis oído su voz, ni habéis visto su forma.

38 You don’t have his word living in you, because you don’t believe him whom he sent.

No tenéis su palabra viviendo en vosotros, porque no creéis al que él ha enviado.

39 “You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me. (aiōnios g166)

“Escudriñáis las Escrituras, porque pensáis que en ellas tenéis la vida eterna; y éstas son las que dan testimonio de mí. (aiōnios g166)

40 Yet you will not come to me, that you may have life.

Pero no queréis venir a mí para que tengáis vida.

41 I don’t receive glory from men.

Yo no recibo la gloria de los hombres.

42 But I know you, that you don’t have God’s love in yourselves.

Pero yo os conozco, que no tenéis el amor de Dios en vosotros mismos.

43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you don’t receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.

Yo he venido en nombre de mi Padre, y no me recibís. Si otro viene en su propio nombre, lo recibiréis.

44 How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God?

¿Cómo podéis creer, pues recibís la gloria unos de otros, y no buscáis la gloria que viene del único Dios?

45 “Don’t think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you, even Moses, on whom you have set your hope.

“No penséis que os voy a acusar ante el Padre. Hay uno que os acusa, Moisés, en quien habéis puesto vuestra esperanza.

46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote about me.

Porque si creyerais a Moisés, me creeríais a mí, pues él escribió sobre mí.

47 But if you don’t believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”

Pero si no creéis en sus escritos, ¿cómo vais a creer en mis palabras?”
