Job 33
1 “However, Job, please hear my speech, and listen to all my words.
Portanto, Jó, ouve, por favor, meus dizeres, e dá ouvidos a todas as minhas palavras.
2 See now, I have opened my mouth. My tongue has spoken in my mouth.
Eis que já abri minha boca; minha língua já fala debaixo do meu céu da boca.
3 My words will utter the uprightness of my heart. That which my lips know they will speak sincerely.
Meus dizeres pronunciarão a integridade do meu coração, e o puro conhecimento dos meus lábios.
4 The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
O Espírito de Deus me fez, e o sopro do Todo-Poderoso me deu vida.
5 If you can, answer me. Set your words in order before me, and stand up.
Se puderes, responde-me; dispõe-te perante mim, e persiste.
6 Behold, I am towards God even as you are. I am also formed out of the clay.
Eis que para Deus eu sou como tu; do barro também eu fui formado.
7 Behold, my terror will not make you afraid, neither will my pressure be heavy on you.
Eis que meu terror não te espantará, nem minha mão será pesada sobre ti.
8 “Surely you have spoken in my hearing, I have heard the voice of your words, saying,
Certamente tu disseste a meus ouvidos, e eu ouvi a voz de tuas palavras,
9 ‘I am clean, without disobedience. I am innocent, neither is there iniquity in me.
[Que diziam]: Eu sou limpo e sem transgressão; sou inocente, e não tenho culpa.
10 Behold, he finds occasions against me. He counts me for his enemy.
Eis que [Deus] buscou pretextos contra mim, [e] me tem por seu inimigo.
11 He puts my feet in the stocks. He marks all my paths.’
Ele pôs meus pés no tronco, e observa todas as minhas veredas.
12 “Behold, I will answer you. In this you are not just, for God is greater than man.
Eis que nisto não foste justo, eu te respondo; pois Deus é maior que o ser humano.
13 Why do you strive against him, because he doesn’t give account of any of his matters?
Por que razão brigas contra ele por não dar resposta às palavras do ser humano?
14 For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention.
Contudo Deus fala uma ou duas vezes, ainda que [o ser humano] não entenda.
15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed,
Em sonho [ou em] visão noturna, quando o sono profundo cai sobre as pessoas, [e] adormecem na cama.
16 then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction,
Então o revela ao ouvido das pessoas, e os sela com advertências;
17 that he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
Para desviar ao ser humano de sua obra, e do homem a soberba.
18 He keeps back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
Para desviar a sua alma da perdição, e sua vida de passar pela espada.
19 “He is chastened also with pain on his bed, with continual strife in his bones,
Também em sua cama é castigado com dores, com luta constante em seus ossos,
20 so that his life abhors bread, and his soul dainty food.
De modo que sua vida detesta [até] o pão, e sua alma a comida deliciosa.
21 His flesh is so consumed away that it can’t be seen. His bones that were not seen stick out.
Sua carne desaparece da vista, e seus ossos, que antes não se viam, aparecem.
22 Yes, his soul draws near to the pit, and his life to the destroyers.
Sua alma se aproxima da cova, e sua vida dos que causam a morte.
23 “If there is beside him an angel, an interpreter, one amongst a thousand, to show to man what is right for him,
Se com ele, pois, houver algum anjo, algum intérprete; um dentre mil, para anunciar ao ser humano o que lhe é correto,
24 then God is gracious to him, and says, ‘Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom.’
Então [Deus] terá misericórdia dele, e [lhe] dirá: Livra-o, para que não desça à perdição; [já] achei o resgate.
25 His flesh will be fresher than a child’s. He returns to the days of his youth.
Sua carne se rejuvenescerá mais do que era na infância, [e] voltará aos dias de sua juventude.
26 He prays to God, and he is favourable to him, so that he sees his face with joy. He restores to man his righteousness.
Ele orará a Deus, que se agradará dele; e verá sua face com júbilo, porque ele restituirá ao ser humano sua justiça.
27 He sings before men, and says, ‘I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it didn’t profit me.
Ele olhará para as pessoas, e dirá: Pequei, e perverti o [que era] correto, o que de nada me aproveitou.
28 He has redeemed my soul from going into the pit. My life will see the light.’
[Porém] Deus livrou minha alma para que eu não passasse à cova, e [agora] minha vida vê a luz!
29 “Behold, God does all these things, twice, yes three times, with a man,
Eis que Deus faz tudo isto duas [ou] três vezes com o ser humano,
30 to bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of the living.
Para desviar sua alma da perdição, e o iluminar com a luz dos viventes.
31 Mark well, Job, and listen to me. Hold your peace, and I will speak.
Presta atenção, Jó, e ouve-me; cala-te, e eu falarei.
32 If you have anything to say, answer me. Speak, for I desire to justify you.
Se tiveres o que dizer, responde-me; fala, porque eu quero te justificar.
33 If not, listen to me. Hold your peace, and I will teach you wisdom.”
E se não, escuta-me; cala-te, e eu ensinarei sabedoria.
