Jeremiah 32
1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar.
La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie de la part de Yahweh, la dixième année de Sédécias, roi de Juda. C'était la dix-huitième année de Nabuchodonosor.
2 Now at that time the king of Babylon’s army was besieging Jerusalem. Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard, which was in the king of Judah’s house.
Alors l’armée du roi de Babylone assiégeait Jérusalem, et Jérémie le prophète était enfermé dans la cour de garde qui était dans la maison du roi de Juda.
3 For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, “Why do you prophesy, and say, ‘The LORD says, “Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will take it;
Car Sédécias, roi de Juda, l'avait fait enfermer, en lui disant: " Pourquoi prophétises-tu en ces termes: Ainsi parle Yahweh: Voici que je livre cette ville aux mains du roi de Babylone, et il la prendra;
4 and Zedekiah king of Judah won’t escape out of the hand of the Kasdim, but will surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and will speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes will see his eyes;
et Sédécias, roi de Juda n'échappera pas aux mains des Chaldéens; il sera certainement livré aux mains du roi de Babylone, et il lui parlera bouche à bouche, et ses yeux verront ses yeux.
5 and he will bring Zedekiah to Babylon, and he will be there until I visit him,” says the LORD, “though you fight with the Kasdim, you will not prosper”’?”
Et Nabuchodonosor emmènera Sédécias à Babylone, et il y restera jusqu'à ce que je le visite, — oracle de Yahweh. Si vous combattez contre les Chaldéens, vous ne réussirez point. "
6 Jeremiah said, “The LORD’s word came to me, saying,
Et Jérémie dit: La parole de Yahweh m'a été adressée en ces termes:
7 ‘Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you, saying, “Buy my field that is in Anathoth; for the right of redemption is yours to buy it.”’”
Voici Hanaméel, fils de Sellum, ton oncle, qui vient vers toi pour te dire: " Achète-toi mon champ qui est à Anathoth, car tu as le droit de rachat pour l'acheter. "
8 “So Hanamel my uncle’s son came to me in the court of the guard according to the LORD’s word, and said to me, ‘Please buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is yours, and the redemption is yours. Buy it for yourself.’ “Then I knew that this was the LORD’s word.
Et Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, vint vers moi selon la parole de Yahweh, dans la cour de garde, et il me dit: " Achète donc mon champ qui est à Anathoth, dans le pays de Benjamin, car tu as le droit d'héritage et le droit de rachat; achète-le donc! " Alors je connus que c'était là une parole de Yahweh.
9 I bought the field that was in Anathoth of Hanamel my uncle’s son, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.
Et j'achetai de Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, le champ qui est à Anathoth, et je lui pesais l'argent, dix-sept sicles d'argent.
10 I signed the deed, sealed it, called witnesses, and weighed the money in the balances to him.
Puis je passai l'acte et je le scellai; je pris des témoins et je pesai l'argent dans la balance.
11 So I took the deed of the purchase, both that which was sealed, containing the terms and conditions, and that which was open;
Ensuite je pris l'acte d'acquisition, celui qui était scellé, renfermant les stipulations et les clauses, et celui qui était ouvert.
12 and I delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my uncle’s son, and in the presence of the witnesses who signed the deed of the purchase, before all the Jews who sat in the court of the guard.
Et je remis l'acte d'acquisition à Baruch, fils de Néri, fils de Maasias, en présence de Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, et en présence des témoins qui avaient signé l'acte d'acquisition, et en présence de tous les Juifs qui étaient assis dans la cour de garde.
13 “I commanded Baruch before them, saying,
Et je donnai devant eux cet ordre à Baruch:
14 the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Take these deeds, this deed of the purchase which is sealed, and this deed which is open, and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may last many days.’
Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées, Dieu d'Israël: Prends ces actes, cet acte d'acquisition qui est scellé, et cet acte qui est ouvert, et mets-les dans un vase de terre pour qu'ils se conservent longtemps.
15 For the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel says: ‘Houses and fields and vineyards will yet again be bought in this land.’
Car ainsi parle Yahweh des armées, Dieu d'Israël: On achètera encore des maisons, des champs et des vignes en ce pays.
16 Now after I had delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to the LORD, saying,
Après que j'eus remis l'acte d'acquisition à Baruch, fils de Néri, j'adressai cette prière à Yahweh:
17 “Ah Lord GOD! Behold, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for you.
Ah! Seigneur Yahweh, c'est toi qui as fait le ciel et la terre par ta grande puissance et ton bras étendu; rien ne te sera impossible.
18 You show loving kindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them. The great, the mighty God, the LORD of Hosts is your name:
C'est toi qui fais miséricorde à des milliers, et qui paies le salaire de l'iniquité des pères dans le sein de leurs enfants, après eux; Dieu grand et fort, dont le nom est Yahweh des armées;
19 great in counsel, and mighty in work; whose eyes are open to all the ways of the children of men, to give everyone according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings;
grand en conseil et puissant en action, dont les yeux sont ouverts sur toutes les voies des enfants d'Adam, pour rendre à chacun selon ses voies, et selon le fruit de ses œuvres.
20 who performed signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even to this day, both in Israel and amongst other men; and made yourself a name, as it is today;
C'est toi qui as fait des signes et des prodiges dans le pays d'Egypte, et jusqu'à ce jour, en Israël et parmi les hommes, et qui t'es fait un nom tel que nous le voyons aujourd'hui;
21 and brought your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, with wonders, with a strong hand, with an outstretched arm, and with great terror;
c'est toi qui as tiré Israël, ton peuple, du pays d'Egypte, avec des signes et des prodiges, par ta main puissante et ton bras étendu, et en répandant une grande terreur;
22 and gave them this land, which you swore to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.
et tu leur as donné ce pays, que tu avais juré à leurs pères de leur donner, un pays où coulent le lait et le miel.
23 They came in and possessed it, but they didn’t obey your voice and didn’t walk in your law. They have done nothing of all that you commanded them to do. Therefore you have caused all this evil to come upon them.
Ils y sont entrés, ils en ont pris possession; mais ils n'ont pas écouté ta voix, ils n'ont pas marché dans ta loi; et tout ce que tu leur avais commandé de faire, ils ne l'ont pas fait; et tu as amené sur eux tous ces malheurs.
24 “Behold, siege ramps have been built against the city to take it. The city is given into the hand of the Kasdim who fight against it, because of the sword, of the famine, and of the pestilence. What you have spoken has happened. Behold, you see it.
Voici que des terrasses atteignent la ville, pour la prendre; et la ville va être livrée aux mains des Chaldéens qui l'attaquent, par l'épée, la famine et la peste; ce que tu as dit arrive, et tu le vois.
25 You have said to me, Lord GOD, ‘Buy the field for money, and call witnesses;’ whereas the city is given into the hand of the Kasdim.”
Et toi, Seigneur Yahweh, tu m'as dit: " Achète-toi ce champ à prix d'argent, et prends des témoins "; et la ville est livrée aux mains des Chaldéens!...
26 Then the LORD’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,
La parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Jérémie en ces termes:
27 “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?
Je suis Yahweh, le Dieu de toute chair; y aurait-il une chose impossible pour moi?
28 Therefore the LORD says: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Kasdim, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will take it.
C'est pourquoi ainsi parle Yahweh: Voici que je vais livrer cette ville aux mains des Chaldéens et aux mains de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, et il la prendra.
29 The Kasdim, who fight against this city, will come and set this city on fire, and burn it with the houses on whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal, and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke me to anger.
Les Chaldéens qui attaquent cette ville y entreront; ils mettront le feu à cette ville, et ils la brûleront, ainsi que les maisons sur les toits desquelles on a offert de l'encens à Baal, et fait des libations à d'autres dieux, afin de m'irriter.
30 “For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done only that which was evil in my sight from their youth; for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, says the LORD.
Car les enfants d'Israël et les enfants de Juda, n'ont fait dès leur jeunesse que ce qui est mal à mes yeux; et les enfants d'Israël n’ont fait que m'irriter par l'œuvre de leurs mains, — oracle de Yahweh.
31 For this city has been to me a provocation of my anger and of my wrath from the day that they built it even to this day, so that I should remove it from before my face,
Car cette ville n'a fait qu'exciter ma colère et ma fureur, depuis le jour où ils l'ont bâtie jusqu'à ce jour afin que je la fasse disparaître de devant ma face,
32 because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger—they, their kings, their princes, their priests, their prophets, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
à cause de tout le mal que les enfants d'Israël et les enfants de Juda ont fait pour m'irriter, eux, leurs rois, leurs chefs, leurs prêtres et leurs prophètes, les hommes de Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem.
33 They have turned their backs to me, and not their faces. Although I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction.
Ils m'ont tourné le dos et non pas la face, et, quand je les ai instruits, les instruisant dès le matin, ils n'ont pas écouté pour recevoir l'instruction.
34 But they set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.
Et ils ont mis leurs abominations dans la maison sur laquelle mon nom est invoqué, pour la souiller.
35 They built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through fire to Molech, which I didn’t command them. It didn’t even come into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.”
Ils ont bâti les hauts lieux de Baal dans la vallée du fils de Hinnom, faisant passer par le feu leurs fils et leurs filles pour Moloch: ce que je ne leur avais pas commandé, et ce qui ne m'était pas venu à la pensée, faisant cette abomination pour faire pêcher Juda.
36 Now therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, says concerning this city, about which you say, “It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:”
Maintenant donc, ainsi parle Yahweh, Dieu d'Israël, touchant cette ville dont vous dites: " Elle sera livrée aux mains du roi de Balylone, par l'épée, la famine et la peste: "
37 “Behold, I will gather them out of all the countries where I have driven them in my anger, and in my wrath, and in great indignation; and I will bring them again to this place. I will cause them to dwell safely.
Voici que je les rassemblerai de tous les pays où je les aurai chassés dans ma colère, dans mon indignation et dans mon grand courroux; je les ramènerai dans ce lieu et je les y ferai habiter en sécurité.
38 Then they will be my people, and I will be their God.
Ils seront mon peuple, et moi je serai leur Dieu.
39 I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their good and the good of their children after them.
Je leur donnerai un même cœur et je leur ferai suivre une même voie, afin qu'ils me craignent toujours, pour leur bonheur et celui de leurs enfants après eux.
40 I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from following them, to do them good. I will put my fear in their hearts, that they may not depart from me.
Je conclurai avec eux une alliance éternelle, pour ne pas me détourner d'eux, en cessant de leur faire du bien; et je mettrai ma crainte dans leur cœur pour qu'ils ne se détournent pas de moi.
41 Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.”
Je mettrai ma joie à leur faire du bien, et je les planterai fidèlement sur cette terre, de tout mon cœur et de toute mon âme.
42 For the LORD says: “Just as I have brought all this great evil on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.
Car ainsi parle Yahweh: De même que j'ai fait venir sur ce peuple tous ces grands malheurs, de même je ferai venir sur eux tous ces biens dont je parle à leur sujet.
43 Fields will be bought in this land, about which you say, ‘It is desolate, without man or animal. It is given into the hand of the Kasdim.’
Et on achètera des champs dans ce pays dont vous dites: " C'est un pays dévasté, où il n'y a plus ni homme ni bête; il est livré aux mains des Chaldéens. "
44 Men will buy fields for money, sign the deeds, seal them, and call witnesses, in the land of Benjamin, and in the places around Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South; for I will cause their captivity to be reversed,” says the LORD.
On achètera des champs à prix d'argent, on en passera les actes, on les scellera et l'on prendra des témoins, dans le pays de Benjamin, et dans les environs de Jérusalem et dans les villes de Juda, dans les villes de la montagne, dans les villes de la sephélah, et dans les villes du négéb; car je ferai revenir les captifs, — oracle de Yahweh.
