< Jeremiah 3 >

1 “They say, ‘If a man puts away his wife, and she goes from him, and becomes another man’s, should he return to her again?’ Wouldn’t that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the prostitute with many lovers; yet return again to me,” says the LORD.
Kami maeto mah zu to pakhrak, nongpata loe anih khae hoi tacawt moe, minawk ih zu ah oh pacoengah, anih loe nongpata khaeah amlaem let vop tih maw? To tiah om nahaeloe prae to amhnongsak mak ai maw? Toe nang loe pop parai tlangainawk hoiah tangzat to na zawh; toe Angraeng mah kai khaeah amlaem let ah, tiah ang naa.
2 “Lift up your eyes to the bare heights, and see! Where have you not been lain with? You have sat waiting for them by the road, as an Arabian in the wilderness. You have polluted the land with your prostitution and with your wickedness.
Hmuensang bangah doing ah loe tangzat na zaw ai ih ahmuen to pakrong noek ah. Arab kami mah praezaek ah zing ih baktih toengah, nang doeh loklamnawk ah na zing; tangzat na zawhhaih hoi na sethaih mah prae to amhnongsak boeh.
3 Therefore the showers have been withheld and there has been no latter rain; yet you have had a prostitute’s forehead and you refused to be ashamed.
To pongah kho angzo ai boeh moe, nipui amtonghaih khotui doeh krah ai boeh; na lupataeh loe tangzat zaw kami lupataeh hoiah anghmong pongah, azathaih roe na tawn ai.
4 Will you not from this time cry to me, ‘My Father, you are the guide of my youth!’?
Vaihi hoi kamtong kai khaeah, Kampa, nang loe ka qoeng li nathuem hoiah kai han loklam patuekkung ah na ai maw na oh?
5 “‘Will he retain his anger forever? Will he keep it to the end?’ Behold, you have spoken and have done evil things, and have had your way.”
Anih loe dungzan khoek to palungphui poe tih maw? Boeng khoek to palungphui vop tih maw? tiah na thui. To tiah lok na thuih e, na sak thaih ih hmuen kasae to na sak, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
6 Moreover, the LORD said to me in the days of Josiah the king, “Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and has played the prostitute there.
Josiah siangpahrang ah oh nathung, Angraeng mah kai khaeah, loklam amkhraeng Israel kaminawk mah sak ih hmuen to na hnuk maw? Anih loe maesang boih ah dawh moe, aqam kahing thingkung tlim boih ah, tangzat a zawh boeh.
7 I said after she had done all these things, ‘She will return to me;’ but she didn’t return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
Hae baktih hmuennawk a sak pacoengah doeh kai khae amlaem let hanah ka thuih. Toe anih loe amlaem let ai. To tiah a sak ih hmuen to oep kaom ai amnawk nongpata Judah mah hnuk.
8 I saw when, for this very cause, that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, had no fear, but she also went and played the prostitute.
Lam amkhraeng Israel loe zu sava laep ah nongpa nongpata zaehaih to sak pongah, ampraekhaih ca to ka paek moe, anih to ka pakhrak; oep kaom ai amnawk nongpata Judah doeh zithaih tawn ai ah a caeh moe, tangzat a zawh toeng, tiah ka hnuk.
9 Because she took her prostitution lightly, the land was polluted, and she committed adultery with stones and with wood.
Anih loe tangzat zawhhaih hoiah prae to amhnongsak, thlung hoiah zaehaih a sak moe, thing hoiah doeh zaehaih to a sak.
10 Yet for all this her treacherous sister, Judah, has not returned to me with her whole heart, but only in pretence,” says the LORD.
To tiah zaehaih to a tawnh, toe oep kaom ai amnawk nongpata Judah loe kai khaeah palung tang hoi amlaem ai, angsak cophaih hoiah ni amlaem, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
11 The LORD said to me, “Backsliding Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.
Angraeng mah kai khaeah, lam amkhraeng Israel loe oep kaom ai Judah pongah toeng kue, tiah thuih.
12 Go, and proclaim these words towards the north, and say, ‘Return, you backsliding Israel,’ says the LORD; ‘I will not look in anger on you, for I am merciful,’ says the LORD. ‘I will not keep anger forever.
Caeh ah loe, hae lok hae aluek bangah taphong ah, nihcae khaeah, Lam amkhraeng Israel amlaem lai ah, tiah Angraeng mah thuih. Na nuiah palungphuihaih ka krahsak mak ai, kai loe palungnathaih hoiah ka koi pongah, palung ka phui poe mak ai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih, tiah thui paeh, tiah ang naa.
13 Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against the LORD your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice,’” says the LORD.
Nang loe ka lok na tahngai ai, na Angraeng Sithaw nuiah zaehaih na sak moe, aqam kahing thingkung tlim boih ah, kaminawk to na zoek, to tiah zaehaih na sak pongah, zaehaih ka tawnh boeh, tiah panoek ah, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
14 “Return, backsliding children,” says the LORD, “for I am a husband to you. I will take one of you from a city, and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.
Lam amkhraeng kaminawk, amlaem o lai ah, tiah Angraeng mah thuih; kai loe nangcae ih sava ah ka oh; vangpui maeto thung hoiah kami maeto ka lak han, imthong maeto thung hoiah kami hnetto ka lak moe, Zion ah kang caeh haih han.
15 I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.
Ka koeh ih tuutoep kaminawk to kang paek han, nihcae mah palunghahaih hoi panoekhaih hoiah na zaehoi o tih.
16 It will come to pass, when you are multiplied and increased in the land in those days,” says the LORD, “they will no longer say, ‘the ark of the LORD’s covenant!’ It will not come to mind. They won’t remember it. They won’t miss it, nor will another be made.
To na niah loe prae thungah pop parai ah nang pung o tih, to naah loe kaminawk mah, Angraeng Lokkamhaih thingkhong, tiah thui o mak ai boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih; to thingkhong to panoek o mak ai; poek o mak ai; dawn o mak ai; sah doeh sah o let mak ai boeh.
17 At that time they will call Jerusalem ‘The LORD’s Throne;’ and all the nations will be gathered to it, to the LORD’s name, to Jerusalem. They will no longer walk after the stubbornness of their evil heart.
To naah Jerusalem loe Angraeng anghnuthaih tangkhang, tiah kawk o tih; prae kaminawk boih, Jerusalem ah, Angraeng ih ahmin to saphaw hanah amkhueng o tih; angmacae kasae poekhaih palungthin hnukah doeh pazui o mak ai boeh.
18 In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and they will come together out of the land of the north to the land that I gave for an inheritance to your fathers.
To na niah loe Judah imthung takoh hoi Israel imthung takoh loe nawnto angkom hoi tih boeh, aluek bang prae hoiah nawnto angzo hoi ueloe, nam panawk khaeah qawk ah ka paek ih prae thungah caeh hoi tih.
19 “But I said, ‘How I desire to put you amongst the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the armies of the nations!’ and I said, ‘You shall call me “My Father”, and shall not turn away from following me.’
Kaimah, Nangcae to caa baktiah kang suek o pongah, koeh koi kaom prae, praenawk boih thungah kahoih koek qawktoephaih to kang paek o na ai maw? tiah ka thuih: Kai mah, Kai hae Kam Pa, tiah nang kawk o ueloe, kai khae hoiah nam khraeng o ving mak ai boeh, tiah ka thuih.
20 “Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so you have dealt treacherously with me, house of Israel,” says the LORD.
Aw Israel imthung takoh, sava nuiah oep kaom ai nongpata baktiah, nangcae doeh ka nuiah oep na om o ai boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
21 A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping and the petitions of the children of Israel; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten the LORD their God.
Israel kaminawk qahhaih hoi hnikhaih lok to hmuensang hoiah ka thaih boeh; nihcae loe loklam amkhraeng o moe, angmacae ih Angraeng Sithaw to pahnet o ving boeh.
22 Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backsliding. “Behold, we have come to you; for you are the LORD our God.
Lam amkhraeng kaminawk, amlaem oh; loklam nam khraeng o haih to kang pakhraih pae han. Nihcae mah doeh khenah, nang khaeah kang zoh o; nang loe kaicae Angraeng Sithaw ah na oh.
23 Truly help from the hills, the tumult on the mountains, is in vain. Truly the salvation of Israel is in the LORD our God.
Maesomnawk, maenawk bang hoiah pahlonghaih to angzo tih, tiah zinghaih loe azom pui ni; Israel pahlong tangtang haih loe aicae ih Angraeng Sithaw hae ni.
24 But the shameful thing has devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
Aicae ampanawk mah toksak ih thingthainawk, tuunawk hoi im ah pacah ih moinawk, a capanawk hoi a canunawk loe a qoeng o li nathuem hoi boeh ni azathaih mah caak boih boeh.
25 Let us lie down in our shame, and let our confusion cover us; for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day. We have not obeyed the LORD our God’s voice.”
Aicae loe azathaih hoiah angsong o boeh moe, ahminsethaih mah khuk khoep boeh; aicae loe aimacae Agraeng Sithaw nuiah a zae o boeh, aicae hoi aicae ampanawk loe a qoeng o li nathuem hoi vaihni ni khoek to, aimacae Angraeng Sithaw ih lok to a tahngai o ai boeh.
