< Isaiah 9 >

1 But there shall be no more gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time, he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali; but in the latter time he has made it glorious, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
Toe raihaih tongh kaminawk loe hnukkhuem ah vinghaih hoiah om o mak ai; canghnii ah Zebulun hoi Naptali prae to anih mah raihaih paek, toe hmabang ah loe tuipui caehhaih loklam, Jordan vapui taeng, Galilee prae ah kaom Gentelnawk to pakoeh ah om tih boeh.
2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. The light has shined on those who lived in the land of the shadow of death.
Vinghaih thungah paqai kaminawk loe kalen parai aanghaih to hnuk o boeh; duekhaih tahlip thungah kaom kaminawk nuiah, aanghaih to phak boeh.
3 You have multiplied the nation. You have increased their joy. They rejoice before you according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the plunder.
Acaeng kaminawk to na pungsak moe, nihcae anghoehaih to na pungsak boeh; cang aahhaih tue ah kaminawk anghoe o baktih, lomh ih hmuen amzet o naah kaminawk anghoe o baktih toengah, nihcae loe na hmaa ah anghoe o boeh.
4 For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as in the day of Midian.
Midian kaminawk ukhaih thungah oh o naah sak ih baktih toengah, nihcae mah phawh o ih kazit hmuen, palaeng ah aput o ih hmuen hoi pacaekthlaek ah kaom kami ih cunghet to Angraeng mah khaeh pae boih boeh.
5 For all the armour of the armed man in the noisy battle, and the garments rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire.
Misatuh kaminawk mah misatuk haih khokpanai hoi athii kangnok khukbuennawk loe hmaiqoeng han koi hmuen ah ni om tih.
6 For a child is born to us. A son is given to us; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Aicae hanah nawkta maeto tapen boeh, aicae hanah capa maeto ang paek boeh; prae ukhaih loe anih ih palaeng nuiah om tih; anih ih ahmin loe Dawnrai, Lokthuih bomkung, Thacak Sithaw, Dungzan Ampa, Angdaehhaih Angraeng, tiah kawk tih.
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on David’s throne, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will perform this.
Anih ukhaih hoi angdaehhaih loe boenghaih om mak ai, David ih angraeng tangkhang hoi a ukhaih prae nuiah pung tahang tih; toenghaih hoi a patuk ih lok baktiah lok to caek tih, a ukhaih loe vaihi hoi kamtong dungzan khoek to cak poe tih. Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng thacakhaih hoiah hae hmuen hae akoepsak tih.
8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it falls on Israel.
Angraeng mah Jakob khaeah lok to patoeh moe, Israel nuiah phaksak.
9 All the people will know, including Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart,
Ephraim hoi Samaria ah kaom kaminawk boih mah to lok to panoek o tih, poeksanghaih hoi amoekhaih hoiah,
10 “The bricks have fallen, but we will build with cut stone. The sycamore fig trees have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.”
amlai long hoi sak ih im to amtimh cadoeh, kamtak thlung hoiah ka sak o let han; thaiduetkungnawk to pakhruh o cadoeh, a zuengah sidar thingnawk ka thling o let han, tiah lokthui kaminawk mah doeh panoek o tih.
11 Therefore the LORD will set up on high against him the adversaries of Rezin, and will stir up his enemies,
To pongah Angraeng mah nihcae tuk hanah Rezin ih misanawk to pahruek moe, Ephraim ih misanawk to angthawksak boeh;
12 The Syrians in front, and the Philistines behind; and they will devour Israel with open mouth. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Syria kaminawk mah ni angyae bang hoiah pakha aangh o thuih moe, Philistin kaminawk mah niduem bang hoiah pakha aangh o thuih pongah, Israel to paaeh o boeh. Hae tiah oh pacoengah doeh, anih palungphuihaih dii ai, a ban phok toengtoeng vop.
13 Yet the people have not turned to him who struck them, neither have they sought the LORD of Hosts.
Toe kaminawk loe nihcae bopkung khaeah amlaem o ai, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng doeh pakrong o ai toengtoeng vop.
14 Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, palm branch and reed, in one day.
To pongah Angraeng mah Israel to lu hoi tamai salakah takroek pat ueloe, tanghang hoi akung to nito thungah takroek tih.
15 The elder and the honourable man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail.
Kacoehtanawk hoi khingya koi kaom kaminawk loe lu ah oh o, amsawnlok patuk tahmaa loe tamai ah om tih.
16 For those who lead this people lead them astray; and those who are led by them are destroyed.
Hae kami zaehoikungnawk loe kaminawk to loklam caeh pazaesak moe, kaminawk to amrosak boeh.
17 Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is profane and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
To pongah Angraeng loe nihcae ih thendoengnawk nuiah anghoehaih tawn ai, ampa tawn ai kaminawk hoi lamhmainawk nuiah doeh tahmenhaih tawn mak ai; nihcae loe angsah cop kami, kahoih ai hmuen sah kami ah oh o moe, amthuhaih lok to apaeh o. To tiah oh pacoengah doeh, anih palungphuihaih to dii ai, a ban phok toengtoeng vop.
18 For wickedness burns like a fire. It devours the briers and thorns; yes, it kindles in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.
Sethaih loe hmai baktiah kangh; kapring hoi soekhringnawk doeh hmai mah kangh ueloe, kathah taw doeh hmai mah kangh tih, thingnawk loe van ah angtoeng tahang hmaikhue baktiah om o tih.
19 Through the LORD of Hosts’ wrath, the land is burnt up; and the people are the fuel for the fire. No one spares his brother.
Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng palungphui pongah, prae loe khoving tih; kaminawk loe hmai ah tik koi thing baktiah ni om o tih; mi mah doeh angmah ih nawkamya to paquem mak ai.
20 One will devour on the right hand, and be hungry; and he will eat on the left hand, and they will not be satisfied. Everyone will eat the flesh of his own arm:
Anih mah bantang ban hoi paaeh tih, toe zok amthlam toengtoeng vop tih; banqoi ban hoiah caa tih, toe zok amhah mak ai; kami maeto boih mah angmah ih ban tampawk moi to caa o tih;
21 Manasseh eating Ephraim and Ephraim eating Manasseh, and they together will be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Manasseh acaeng mah Ephraim acaeng to caa ueloe, Ephraim acaeng mah doeh Manasseh acaeng to caa tih: nihnik angbom hoi ueloe Judah to tuh hoi tih. To tiah oh pacoengah doeh anih palungphuihaih dii mak ai, a ban phok toengtoeng vop tih.
