Isaiah 45
1 The LORD says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held to subdue nations before him and strip kings of their armour, to open the doors before him, and the gates shall not be shut:
わたしはわが受膏者クロスの右の手をとって、もろもろの国をその前に従わせ、もろもろの王の腰を解き、とびらをその前に開かせて、門を閉じさせない、と言われる主はその受膏者クロスにこう言われる、
2 “I will go before you and make the rough places smooth. I will break the doors of bronze in pieces and cut apart the bars of iron.
「わたしはあなたの前に行って、もろもろの山を平らにし、青銅のとびらをこわし、鉄の貫の木を断ち切り、
3 I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that it is I, the LORD, who calls you by your name, even the God of Israel.
あなたに、暗い所にある財宝と、ひそかな所に隠した宝物とを与えて、わたしは主、あなたの名を呼んだイスラエルの神であることをあなたに知らせよう。
4 For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel my chosen, I have called you by your name. I have given you a title, though you have not known me.
わがしもべヤコブのために、わたしの選んだイスラエルのために、わたしはあなたの名を呼んだ。あなたがわたしを知らなくても、わたしはあなたに名を与えた。
5 I am the LORD, and there is no one else. Besides me, there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not known me,
わたしは主である。わたしのほかに神はない、ひとりもない。あなたがわたしを知らなくても、わたしはあなたを強くする。
6 that they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is no one besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no one else.
これは日の出る方から、また西の方から、人々がわたしのほかに神のないことを知るようになるためである。わたしは主である、わたしのほかに神はない。
7 I form the light and create darkness. I make peace and create calamity. I am the LORD, who does all these things.
わたしは光をつくり、また暗きを創造し、繁栄をつくり、またわざわいを創造する。わたしは主である、すべてこれらの事をなす者である。
8 Rain, you heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness. Let the earth open, that it may produce salvation, and let it cause righteousness to spring up with it. I, the LORD, have created it.
天よ、上より水を注げ、雲は義を降らせよ。地は開けて救を生じ、また義をも、生えさせよ。主なるわたしはこれを創造した。
9 Woe to him who strives with his Maker— a clay pot amongst the clay pots of the earth! Shall the clay ask him who fashions it, ‘What are you making?’ or your work, ‘He has no hands’?
陶器が陶器師と争うように、おのれを造った者と争う者はわざわいだ。粘土は陶器師にむかって『あなたは何を造るか』と言い、あるいは『あなたの造った物には手がない』と言うだろうか。
10 Woe to him who says to a father, ‘What have you become the father of?’ or to a mother, ‘What have you given birth to?’”
父にむかって『あなたは、なぜ子をもうけるのか』と言い、あるいは女にむかって『あなたは、なぜ産みの苦しみをするのか』と言う者はわざわいだ」。
11 The LORD, the Holy One of Israel and his Maker says: “You ask me about the things that are to come, concerning my sons, and you command me concerning the work of my hands!
イスラエルの聖者、イスラエルを造られた主はこう言われる、「あなたがたは、わが子らについてわたしに問い、またわが手のわざについてわたしに命ずるのか。
12 I have made the earth, and created man on it. I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens. I have commanded all their army.
わたしは地を造って、その上に人を創造した。わたしは手をもって天をのべ、その万軍を指揮した。
13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will make all his ways straight. He shall build my city, and he shall let my exiles go free, not for price nor reward,” says the LORD of Hosts.
わたしは義をもってクロスを起した。わたしは彼のすべての道をまっすぐにしよう。彼はわが町を建て、わが捕囚を価のためでなく、また報いのためでもなく解き放つ」と万軍の主は言われる。
14 The LORD says: “The labour of Egypt, and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and the Sabeans, men of stature, will come over to you, and they will be yours. They will go after you. They shall come over in chains. They will bow down to you. They will make supplication to you: ‘Surely God is in you; and there is no one else. There is no other god.
主はこう言われる、「エジプトの富と、エチオピヤの商品と、たけの高いセバびととはあなたに来て、あなたのものとなり、あなたに従い、彼らは鎖につながれて来て、あなたの前にひれ伏し、あなたに願って言う、『神はただあなたと共にいまし、このほかに神はなく、ひとりもない』」。
15 Most certainly you are a God who has hidden yourself, God of Israel, the Saviour.’”
イスラエルの神、救主よ、まことに、あなたはご自分を隠しておられる神である。
16 They will be disappointed, yes, confounded, all of them. Those who are makers of idols will go into confusion together.
偶像を造る者は皆恥を負い、はずかしめを受け、ともに、あわてふためいて退く。
17 Israel will be saved by the LORD with an everlasting salvation. You will not be disappointed nor confounded to ages everlasting.
しかし、イスラエルは主に救われて、とこしえの救を得る。あなたがたは世々かぎりなく、恥を負わず、はずかしめを受けない。
18 For the LORD who created the heavens, the God who formed the earth and made it, who established it and didn’t create it a waste, who formed it to be inhabited says: “I am the LORD. There is no other.
天を創造された主、すなわち神であってまた地をも造り成し、これを堅くし、いたずらにこれを創造されず、これを人のすみかに造られた主はこう言われる、「わたしは主である、わたしのほかに神はない。
19 I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness. I didn’t say to the offspring of Jacob, ‘Seek me in vain.’ I, the LORD, speak righteousness. I declare things that are right.
わたしは隠れたところ、地の暗い所で語らず、ヤコブの子孫に『わたしを尋ねるのはむだだ』と言わなかった。主なるわたしは正しい事を語り、まっすぐな事を告げる。
20 “Assemble yourselves and come. Draw near together, you who have escaped from the nations. Those have no knowledge who carry the wood of their engraved image, and pray to a god that can’t save.
もろもろの国からのがれてきた者よ、集まってきて、共に近寄れ。木像をにない、救うことのできない神に祈る者は無知である。
21 Declare and present it. Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has shown this from ancient time? Who has declared it of old? Haven’t I, the LORD? There is no other God besides me, a just God and a Saviour. There is no one besides me.
あなたがたの言い分を持ってきて述べよ。また共に相談せよ。この事をだれがいにしえから示したか。だれが昔から告げたか。わたし、すなわち主ではなかったか。わたしのほかに神はない。わたしは義なる神、救主であって、わたしのほかに神はない。
22 “Look to me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.
地の果なるもろもろの人よ、わたしを仰ぎのぞめ、そうすれば救われる。わたしは神であって、ほかに神はないからだ。
23 I have sworn by myself. The word has gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and will not be revoked, that to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall take an oath.
わたしは自分をさして誓った、わたしの口から出た正しい言葉は帰ることがない、『すべてのひざはわが前にかがみ、すべての舌は誓いをたてる』。
24 They will say of me, ‘There is righteousness and strength only in the LORD.’” Even to him will men come. All those who raged against him will be disappointed.
人はわたしについて言う、『正義と力とは主にのみある』と。人々は主にきたり、主にむかって怒る者は皆恥を受ける。
25 All the offspring of Israel will be justified in the LORD, and will rejoice!
しかしイスラエルの子孫は皆主によって勝ち誇ることができる」。
