< Isaiah 28 >

1 Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley of those who are overcome with wine!
Misurtui paquih hoi long kahoih azawn hmuen ah kaom, Ephraim amoekhaih angraeng lumuek, azaem thaih lensawkhaih hoi kranghoihhaih apawk loe khosak bing!
2 Behold, the Lord has one who is mighty and strong. Like a storm of hail, a destroying storm, and like a storm of mighty waters overflowing, he will cast them down to the earth with his hand.
Khenah, sak thaihaih hoi thacak Angraeng mah, qaetui hoi hmuennawk boih amrosak thaih takhi pui baktih, khopui angzoh moe, kalen parai tuinawk baktiah, tha hoi long ah va tih.
3 The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden under foot.
Mu paquih Ephraim kaminawk amoekhaih angraeng lumuek to, khok hoiah cawh pae tih.
4 The fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley, shall be like the first-ripe fig before the summer, which someone picks and eats as soon as he sees it.
Long kahoih azawn ah kaom lensawkhaih hoi kranghoihaih loe azaem tathuk apawk baktih, pakhrikhaih atue pha ai naah kahmin nipui tue ih thingthai baktiah om tih; to thingthai to kami mah hnuk naah pakhrik moe caak roep.
5 In that day, the LORD of Hosts will become a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty to the residue of his people,
To na niah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw loe, kanghmat angmah ih kaminawk hanah, lensawkhaih lumuek hoi kahoih parai lumuek ah om tih.
6 and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgement, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.
Anih loe lokcaek kaminawk khaeah, katoengah lokcaekhaih muithla ah oh moe, misanawk mah vangpui khongkha to muk naah thacakhaih paekkung ah oh.
7 They also reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink. The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink. They are swallowed up by wine. They stagger with strong drink. They err in vision. They stumble in judgement.
Toe to kaminawk doeh misurtui pongah lamcaeh pazae o moe, mu pongah loklam amkhraeng o boeh; tahmaanawk hoi qaimanawk doeh mu pongah lamcaeh pazae o boeh; nihcae loe misurtui mah muek moe, mu pongah loklam amkhraeng o boih boeh; amsoem ai hnuksakhaih to a hnuk o moe, lokcaekhaih bangah amtimh o boeh.
8 For all tables are completely full of filthy vomit and filthiness.
Nihcae ih caboi loe kaciim ahmuen roe om ai, tamlok hoi panuet thok hmuen hoiah ni koi.
9 Whom will he teach knowledge? To whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts?
Anih mah mi maw patuk thai tang tih? Thaih kop hanah anih mah mi khaeah maw lok to thui pae tih? Tahnu amphi nawktanawk khaeah maw? Tahnu nae ai kaminawk khaeah maw thui pae tih?
10 For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little.
Amtukhaih maeto pacoeng maeto, catlang maeto pacoeng maeto, haeah zetta, hoah zetta hoiah amtuk han oh, tiah thuih o.
11 But he will speak to this nation with stammering lips and in another language,
To pongah Angraeng mah prae kalah kaminawk ih lok to patoh ueloe, lok kalah hoiah hae kaminawk hanah lok to thui tih.
12 to whom he said, “This is the resting place. Give rest to the weary,” and “This is the refreshing;” yet they would not hear.
Anih mah to kaminawk khaeah, Hae loe angpho kaminawk anghakhaih ahmuen ah oh; hae loe anghakhaih ahmuen ni, tiah a naa. Toe nihcae mah lok tahngai pae o ai.
13 Therefore the LORD’s word will be to them precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, fall backward, be broken, be snared, and be taken.
To pongah Angraeng ih lok loe nihcae hanah, amtukhaih maeto pacoeng maeto, catlang maeto pacoeng maeto; haeah zetta, hoah zetta ah om pae tih. To pacoengah nihcae loe caeh o ueloe, hnuk bangah amtim o tih; ahmaa caa o ueloe, thaang pongah aman o tih.
14 Therefore hear the LORD’s word, you scoffers, that rule this people in Jerusalem:
To pongah Jerusalem ih kami ukkung, kasae kaminawk, Angraeng ih lok to tahngai oh.
15 “Because you have said, ‘We have made a covenant with death, and we are in agreement with Sheol. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it won’t come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves under falsehood.’” (Sheol h7585)
Duekhaih hoi lokmaihaih to ka sak o boeh, hell hoi doeh palungduehaih ka sak o boeh; tui uemhaih oh naah doeh, kaicae khaeah pha mak ai; kaicae loe amsawnlok pongah ka buep o moe, alinghaih tlim ah kang hawk o boeh, tiah na thuih o. (Sheol h7585)
16 Therefore the Lord GOD says, “Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone of a sure foundation. He who believes shall not act hastily.
To pongah Angraeng Sithaw mah hae tiah thuih; Khenah, Zion ah angdoethaih thlung, tanoek tangcae ih thlung, atho kaom im takii ih thlung, kacakah angdoethaih thlung to ka thling boeh; to thlung oephaih tawn kami loe natuek naah doeh tasoehhaih tawn mak ai.
17 I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the plumb line. The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters will overflow the hiding place.
Katoengah lokcaekhaih to tahhaih qui ah ka patoh moe, toenghaih to qui ah ka patoh han; nihcae mah oep o ih amsawnlok to qaetui mah amrosak boih ueloe, nihcae anghawkhaih ahmuen to tui mah pazawk pae boih tih.
18 Your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through, then you will be trampled down by it. (Sheol h7585)
Duekhaih hoiah na sak o ih lokmaihaih to amro tih; taprong hoiah na sak o ih palungduehaih doeh cak mak ai; tui uemhaih phak naah tui mah nangcae to pazawk tih. (Sheol h7585)
19 As often as it passes through, it will seize you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night; and it will be nothing but terror to understand the message.”
Tui uemhaih phak naah nangcae to pazawk tih; akhawnbang kruek, khoving khodai, tui mah nangcae to pazawk tih; to tamthang to na thaih o naah zithaih to om tih.
20 For the bed is too short to stretch out on, and the blanket is too narrow to wrap oneself in.
Angsonghaih iihkhun loe tak amzueng haih hanah duem tet ueloe, kahni doeh angkhuk hanah thoeng kae tih.
21 For the LORD will rise up as on Mount Perazim. He will be angry as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his unusual work, and bring to pass his act, his extraordinary act.
Angraeng loe angmah ih tok, anghmang kathok tok to sak hanah, a tok sakhaih hoi dawnrai koi kaom a tok sakhaih to pacoeng thai hanah, Perazim mae nuiah anih angthawk baktiah angthawk ueloe, Gibeon azawn ah palungphui ih baktih toengah palungphui tih.
22 Now therefore don’t be scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord, GOD of Hosts, on the whole earth.
To pongah kami pahnui thuihaih to vaihi toeng lai ah; to tih ai nahaeloe nang ih sumqui to caksak aep tih; long pum amrosak hanah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih ih lok to ka thaih boeh.
23 Give ear, and hear my voice! Listen, and hear my speech!
Ka thuih ih lok to thaih kop hanah, naa to patueng ah; ka lok hae tahngai ah loe pakuem ah.
24 Does he who ploughs to sow plough continually? Does he keep turning the soil and breaking the clods?
Laikok sah kami mah cangtii et hanah athun qui long atok maw? Anih mah long to talaih moe, takaeh khing maw?
25 When he has levelled its surface, doesn’t he plant the dill, and scatter the cumin seed, and put in the wheat in rows, the barley in the appointed place, and the spelt in its place?
Long to kangvan ah sak pacoengah na ai maw aanmunawk to patit moe, cungpram muunawk, cangtinawk, barley cang hoi tun muunawk to angmah ih ahmuen ah a haeh?
26 For his God instructs him in right judgement and teaches him.
Sithaw mah anih hanah katoeng lokcaekhaih to paek moe, anih hanah katoeng loklam to thuih pae.
27 For the dill isn’t threshed with a sharp instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned over the cumin; but the dill is beaten out with a stick, and the cumin with a rod.
Hmuihoih aannawk loe khok hoiah atii vai ai, maitaw lakok hoiah doeh atii vai ai; toe hmuihoih aannawk loe cung hoiah boh o moe, cungpramkungnawk doeh thingboeng hoiah ni boh o.
28 Bread flour must be ground; so he will not always be threshing it. Although he drives the wheel of his threshing cart over it, his horses don’t grind it.
Cang loe atit han oh; toe mi mah doeh atii tuektuek mak ai; atithaih hrang lakok khok hoiah atitsak cadoeh, cang to dipsak pung mak ai.
29 This also comes out from the LORD of Hosts, who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in wisdom.
Hae baktih hmuennawk doeh misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng khae hoiah ni angzoh; a thuih ih lok loe dawnrai han oh; palunghahaih doeh anghmang thoh.
