< Ezra 5 >

1 Now the prophets, Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem. They prophesied to them in the name of the God of Israel.
To naah tahmaa Haggai hoi Iddo ih caa maeto tahmaa Zekariah mah Judah prae ah kaom Judah kaminawk hoi Jerusalem ah kaom kaminawk khaeah, Israel Sithaw ih ahmin hoiah lokthuih.
2 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Yeshua the son of Jozadak rose up and began to build God’s house which is at Jerusalem; and with them were the prophets of God, helping them.
To pacoengah Shealtiel capa Zerubbabel hoi Jozadak capa Jeshua mah, Jerusalem ih Sithaw im to sak amtong hoi let; Sithaw ih tahmaanawk mah nihcae to abomh o.
3 At the same time Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, came to them, with Shetharbozenai and their companions, and asked them, “Who gave you a decree to build this house and to finish this wall?”
To naah vapui yaeh ukkung Tatnai, Shethar-Boznai hoi angmacae ih ampuinawk loe caeh o moe, hae ih im sak let thaihaih akaa mi mah maw ang paek? tiah a naa o.
4 They also asked for the names of the men who were making this building.
To im sah kaminawk ih ahmin loe mi cae maw? tiah kaicae khaeah ang dueng o.
5 But the eye of their God was on the Jewish elders, and they didn’t make them cease until the matter should come to Darius, and an answer should be returned by letter concerning it.
Toe Judah kacoehtanawk nuiah Sithaw ih mik to oh pongah, Darius khaeah ca tarik ih pathimhaih pha ai karoek to, nihcae loe toksah ai ah om o sut ai.
6 The copy of the letter that Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, and Shetharbozenai, and his companions the Apharsachites who were beyond the River, sent to Darius the king follows.
Vapui yaeh ukkung Tatnai, Shethar-Boznai hoi nihcae ih ampuinawk, vapui yaeh ah kaom angraengnawk mah ca tarik o moe, Darius siangpahrang khaeah pat pae o.
7 They sent a letter to him, in which was written: To Darius the king, all peace.
Anih khaeah tarik ih ca pongah, Darius siangpahrang, monghaih om nasoe.
8 Be it known to the king that we went into the province of Judah, to the house of the great God, which is being built with great stones and timber is laid in the walls. This work goes on with diligence and prospers in their hands.
Kaicae loe Judah prae ih, kalensawk Sithaw im ah ka caeh o naah, to kaminawk loe im to kalen parai thlung hoiah a sak o moe, sipae nuiah doeh thingnawk to a koeng o boeh; nihcae loe karangah tok a sak o moe, a sak o ih tok loe paroeai hmacawn boeh, tiah panoek ah.
9 Then we asked those elders, and said to them thus, “Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?”
Kacoehtanawk khaeah, Hae ih im hoi sipaenawk sak let hanah mi mah maw sak thaihaih akaa ang paek? tiah lok ka dueng o.
10 We asked them their names also, to inform you that we might write the names of the men who were at their head.
Na panoek thaih moe, zaehoikung kacoehtanawk ih ahmin tarik hanah, nihcae ih ahmin to ka dueng o.
11 Thus they returned us answer, saying, “We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth and are building the house that was built these many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and finished.
To naah nihcae mah hae tiah ang thuih o; Kaicae loe van hoi long Sithaw ih tamna ah ka oh o; canghniah kalensawk Israel siangpahrang mah sak ih im to ni ka sak o let.
12 But after our fathers had provoked the God of heaven to wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Kasdian, who destroyed this house and carried the people away into Babylon.
Kam panawk mah van Sithaw to palungphui o sak pongah, nihcae to Khaldea kami, Nebukhadnezzar Babylon siangpahrang ban ah paek; anih mah hae im hae a phraek moe, kaminawk to Babylon prae ah a caeh haih.
13 But in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, Cyrus the king made a decree to build this house of God.
Toe Babylon siangpahrang Sairas mah siangpahrang ah oh amtong tangsuekhaih saning ah, hae Sithaw im hae sak let hanah lok a paek.
14 The gold and silver vessels of God’s house, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem and brought into the temple of Babylon, those Cyrus the king also took out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered to one whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor.
Nebukhadnezzar mah Jerusalem im thung hoi Sithaw im ih laom sabaenawk to lak moe, Babylon tempul thungah a suek; to tiah a suek ih sui, sumkanglung hoiah sak ih laom sabaenawk to, Sairas siangpahrang mah Babylon tempul thung hoiah lak moe, prae ukkung ah a suek ih, Sheshbazzar khaeah paek let;
15 He said to him, ‘Take these vessels, go, put them in the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let God’s house be built in its place.’
anih khaeah, Hae hmuennawk hae sin ah loe, Jerusalem im thungah suem let ah; Sithaw im to a ohhaih ahmuen ah sah let ah, tiah a naa.
16 Then the same Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundations of God’s house which is in Jerusalem. Since that time even until now it has been being built, and yet it is not completed.
To pongah Sheshbazzar mah caeh moe, Jerusalem ih Sithaw im ahmuen to sak let; to na ni hoi kamtong vaihni ni khoek to im to ka sak o, toe ka pacoeng o thai ai vop, tiah ang naa o.
17 Now therefore, if it seems good to the king, let a search be made in the king’s treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it is so that a decree was made by Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem; and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.”
Vaihi siangpahrang koehhaih baktiah om nahaeloe, Babylon siangpahrang ih hmuenmae pakuemhaih cabu pongah, Jerusalem ah Sithaw im sak let hanah Sairas siangpahrang ih lok takroekhaih oh tangtang maw, tito pakrong ah loe, siangpahrang koehhaih dan kaicae khaeah ca nang pat let nahaeloe hoi tih, tiah ca tarik o.
