Deuteronomy 11
1 Therefore you shall love the LORD your God, and keep his instructions, his statutes, his ordinances, and his commandments, always.
Amarás a Yavé tu ʼElohim y guardarás siempre sus Preceptos, Estatutos, Ordenanzas y Mandamientos.
2 Know this day—for I don’t speak with your children who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, his outstretched arm,
Consideren hoy (no [hablo] con sus hijos, quienes no conocieron ni vieron) la disciplina de Yavé su ʼElohim: su grandeza, su mano fuerte y su brazo extendido,
3 his signs, and his works, which he did in the middle of Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to all his land;
sus señales y sus hazañas que hizo en medio de Egipto con respecto a Faraón, rey de Egipto, y a toda su tierra;
4 and what he did to the army of Egypt, to their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Sea of Suf to overflow them as they pursued you, and how the LORD has destroyed them to this day;
lo que hizo al ejército de Egipto, a sus caballos y carruajes, sobre los cuales precipitó las aguas del mar Rojo mientras ellos los perseguían, y Yavé los destruyó hasta hoy;
5 and what he did to you in the wilderness until you came to this place;
lo que hizo con ustedes en el desierto, hasta cuando llegaron a este lugar;
6 and what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben—how the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households, their tents, and every living thing that followed them, in the middle of all Israel;
y lo que hizo con Datán y Abiram, hijos de Eliab, hijo de Rubén, cómo, en medio de todo Israel, la tierra abrió su boca y los tragó a ellos, sus familias, sus tiendas y todo su ganado,
7 but your eyes have seen all of the LORD’s great work which he did.
pero sus ojos vieron toda la gran obra que hizo Yavé.
8 Therefore you shall keep the entire commandment which I command you today, that you may be strong, and go in and possess the land that you go over to possess;
Por tanto, guarden todos los Mandamientos que yo les ordeno hoy para que sean fuertes, y entren y ocupen la tierra a la cual pasan para poseerla,
9 and that you may prolong your days in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give to them and to their offspring, a land flowing with milk and honey.
a fin de que prolonguen sus días sobre la tierra que Yavé juró a sus antepasados que les daría a ellos y a su descendencia, tierra que fluye leche y miel.
10 For the land, where you go in to possess isn’t like the land of Egypt that you came out of, where you sowed your seed and watered it with your foot, as a garden of herbs;
La tierra a la cual entras para tomarla no es como la tierra de Egipto de donde salieron, donde sembrabas tu semilla y regabas con tu pie, como un huerto de hortaliza.
11 but the land that you go over to possess is a land of hills and valleys which drinks water from the rain of the sky,
Pero la tierra a la cual están a punto de pasar para poseerla es una tierra de montañas y valles, que bebe el agua de la lluvia del cielo.
12 a land which the LORD your God cares for. The LORD your God’s eyes are always on it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year.
Es una tierra que Yavé tu ʼElohim cuida. Los ojos de Yavé tu ʼElohim están siempre sobre ella desde el principio hasta el fin del año.
13 It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to my commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
Sucederá que, si obedecen sinceramente mis Mandamientos que les ordeno hoy, aman a Yavé su ʼElohim, y le sirven con todo su corazón y con toda su alma,
14 that I will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil.
Él también dará la lluvia a su tierra en su tiempo, la temprana y la tardía, y recogerás tu grano, tu mosto y tu aceite.
15 I will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be full.
Dará también hierba en tu campo para tu ganado. Comerás y quedarás satisfecho.
16 Be careful, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn away to serve other gods and worship them;
Guárdense para que sus corazones no sean engañados, y que ustedes no se aparten, sirvan a otros ʼelohim y los adoren,
17 and the LORD’s anger be kindled against you, and he shut up the sky so that there is no rain, and the land doesn’t yield its fruit; and you perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD gives you.
porque entonces la ira de Yavé se encenderá contra ustedes. Cerrará el cielo y no habrá lluvia. La tierra no dará su fruto, y pronto perecerán en la buena tierra que Yavé les da.
18 Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul. You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.
Por tanto, pondrán estas palabras mías en su corazón y en su alma. Las atarán como señal en su mano, y serán como frontales entre sus ojos.
19 You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
Las enseñarán a sus hijos, hablarán de ellas cuando se sienten en su casa, cuando anden por el camino, cuando se acuesten y cuando se levanten.
20 You shall write them on the door posts of your house and on your gates;
Las escribirán en las jambas de tu casa y en sus puertas,
21 that your days and your children’s days may be multiplied in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.
para que sus días y los días de sus hijos se multipliquen como los días de los cielos sobre la tierra, en la tierra que Yavé juró a sus antepasados que les daría.
22 For if you shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you—to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cling to him—
Porque si guardan diligentemente todos estos Mandamientos que yo les ordeno para que los cumplan, si aman a Yavé su ʼElohim, andan en todos sus caminos y se aferran a Él,
23 then the LORD will drive out all these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.
Yavé expulsará a todas estas naciones de delante de ustedes, y desposeerán a naciones más grandes y más fuertes que ustedes.
24 Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even to the western sea shall be your border.
Todo lugar que pise la planta de su pie será suyo desde el desierto y el Líbano, y desde el río Éufrates hasta el mar Occidental.
25 No man will be able to stand before you. The LORD your God will lay the fear of you and the dread of you on all the land that you tread on, as he has spoken to you.
Nadie prevalecerá delante de ustedes. Yavé su ʼElohim pondrá el temor y el pavor delante de ustedes sobre toda la tierra que pisen, como Él les habló.
26 Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse:
Miren, hoy pongo delante de ustedes la bendición y la maldición:
27 the blessing, if you listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today;
La bendición, si escuchan los Mandamientos de Yavé su ʼElohim que yo les ordeno hoy,
28 and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn away out of the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.
y la maldición, si no escuchan los Mandamientos de Yavé su ʼElohim, sino se apartan del camino que yo les ordeno hoy para seguir a otros ʼelohim que no conocieron.
29 It shall happen, when the LORD your God brings you into the land that you go to possess, that you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim, and the curse on Mount Ebal.
Acontecerá que cuando Yavé tu ʼElohim te introduzca en la tierra a la cual entras para poseerla, pondrás la bendición sobre la montaña Gerizim, y la maldición sobre la montaña Ebal.
30 Aren’t they beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites who dwell in the Arabah near Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?
¿No están éstas al otro lado del Jordán, al occidente, en la tierra del cananeo que habita en el Arabá, junto al robledal de Moré frente a Gilgal?
31 For you are to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God gives you, and you shall possess it and dwell in it.
Porque están a punto de pasar el Jordán a fin de entrar a poseer la tierra que Yavé su ʼElohim les da. La poseerán y vivirán en ella.
32 You shall observe to do all the statutes and the ordinances which I set before you today.
Ustedes tendrán el cuidado de observar todos los Estatutos y Ordenanzas que hoy presento delante de ustedes.
