Acts 18
1 After these things Paul departed from Athens and came to Corinth.
Después de estas cosas, Pablo partió de Atenas y llegó a Corinto.
2 He found a certain Jew named Aquila, a man of Pontus by race, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome. He came to them,
Encontró a un judío llamado Aquila, de raza del Ponto, que había llegado recientemente de Italia con su mujer Priscila, porque Claudio había ordenado a todos los judíos que salieran de Roma. Llegó a ellos,
3 and because he practised the same trade, he lived with them and worked, for by trade they were tent makers.
y como ejercía el mismo oficio, vivió con ellos y trabajó, pues de oficio eran fabricantes de tiendas.
4 He reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath and persuaded Jews and Greeks.
Todos los sábados razonaba en la sinagoga y persuadía a judíos y griegos.
5 When Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, testifying to the Jews that Yeshua was the Messiah.
Cuando Silas y Timoteo bajaron de Macedonia, Pablo fue impulsado por el Espíritu, testificando a los judíos que Jesús era el Cristo.
6 When they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook out his clothing and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on, I will go to the Gentiles!”
Cuando se opusieron a él y blasfemaron, sacudió su ropa y les dijo: “¡Su sangre caiga sobre sus propias cabezas! Yo estoy limpio. A partir de ahora, iré a los gentiles”.
7 He departed there and went into the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshipped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.
Salió de allí y entró en casa de un hombre llamado Justo, que adoraba a Dios, cuya casa estaba al lado de la sinagoga.
8 Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house. Many of the Corinthians, when they heard, believed and were immersed.
Crispo, el jefe de la sinagoga, creyó en el Señor con toda su casa. Muchos de los corintios, al oírlo, creyeron y se bautizaron.
9 The Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, “Don’t be afraid, but speak and don’t be silent;
El Señor le dijo a Pablo en una visión nocturna: “No tengas miedo, habla y no te calles;
10 for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city.”
porque yo estoy contigo y nadie te atacará para hacerte daño, pues tengo mucha gente en esta ciudad.”
11 He lived there a year and six months, teaching the word of God amongst them.
Vivió allí un año y seis meses, enseñando la palabra de Dios entre ellos.
12 But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgement seat,
Pero cuando Galión era procónsul de Acaya, los judíos, de común acuerdo, se levantaron contra Pablo y lo llevaron ante el tribunal,
13 saying, “This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.”
diciendo: “Este hombre persuade a los hombres a adorar a Dios en contra de la ley.”
14 But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If indeed it were a matter of wrong or of wicked crime, you Jews, it would be reasonable that I should bear with you;
Pero cuando Pablo estaba a punto de abrir la boca, Galión dijo a los judíos: “Si en verdad se tratara de un asunto incorrecto o de un delito inicuo, vosotros los judíos, sería razonable que yo os soportara;
15 but if they are questions about words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves. For I don’t want to be a judge of these matters.”
pero si se trata de cuestiones de palabras y nombres y de vuestra propia ley, miradlo vosotros mismos. Porque no quiero ser juez de estos asuntos”.
16 So he drove them from the judgement seat.
Así que los expulsó del tribunal.
17 Then all the Greeks seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgement seat. Gallio didn’t care about any of these things.
Entonces todos los griegos agarraron a Sóstenes, el jefe de la sinagoga, y lo golpearon ante el tribunal. A Galio no le importó nada de esto.
18 Paul, having stayed after this many more days, took his leave of the brothers, and sailed from there for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had a vow.
Después de esto, Pablo se despidió de los hermanos y se embarcó de allí hacia Siria, junto con Priscila y Aquila. En Cencreas se afeitó la cabeza, pues tenía un voto.
19 He came to Ephesus, and he left them there; but he himself entered into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.
Llegó a Éfeso y los dejó allí; pero él mismo entró en la sinagoga y discutió con los judíos.
20 When they asked him to stay with them a longer time, he declined;
Cuando le pidieron que se quedara con ellos más tiempo, lo rechazó;
21 but taking his leave of them, he said, “I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem, but I will return again to you if God wills.” Then he set sail from Ephesus.
pero despidiéndose de ellos, les dijo: “Tengo que celebrar esta próxima fiesta en Jerusalén, pero volveré de nuevo a vosotros si Dios quiere.” Entonces partió de Éfeso.
22 When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the assembly, and went down to Antioch.
Cuando desembarcó en Cesarea, subió a saludar a la asamblea y bajó a Antioquía.
23 Having spent some time there, he departed and went through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, in order, establishing all the disciples.
Después de pasar algún tiempo allí, partió y recorrió por orden la región de Galacia y Frigia, estableciendo a todos los discípulos.
24 Now a certain Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by race, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus. He was mighty in the Scriptures.
Llegó a Éfeso un judío llamado Apolos, de raza alejandrina, hombre elocuente. Era poderoso en las Escrituras.
25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Yeshua, although he knew only the immersion of Yochanan.
Este hombre había sido instruido en el camino del Señor; y siendo ferviente de espíritu, hablaba y enseñaba con exactitud las cosas relativas a Jesús, aunque sólo conocía el bautismo de Juan.
26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside, and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
Comenzó a hablar con valentía en la sinagoga. Pero cuando Priscila y Aquila le oyeron, le llevaron aparte y le explicaron con más precisión el camino de Dios.
27 When he had determined to pass over into Achaia, the brothers encouraged him; and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he had come, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;
Cuando decidió pasar a Acaya, los hermanos le animaron y escribieron a los discípulos para que le recibieran. Cuando llegó, ayudó mucho a los que habían creído por medio de la gracia;
28 for he powerfully refuted the Jews, publicly showing by the Scriptures that Yeshua was the Messiah.
pues refutó poderosamente a los judíos, mostrando públicamente con las Escrituras que Jesús era el Cristo.
