3 Yochanan 1
1 The elder to Gaius the beloved, whom I love in truth.
Der Aelteste an Gaius, den geliebten, den ich liebe in Wahrheit.
2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.
Geliebter, in allen Stücken wünsche ich daß es dir wohl gehe und du gesund seist, so wie es deiner Seele wohl geht.
3 For I rejoiced greatly when brothers came and testified about your truth, even as you walk in truth.
Denn ich hatte große Freude bei der Ankunft der Brüder, da sie Zeugnis gaben für deine Wahrheit, wie du in der Wahrheit wandelst.
4 I have no greater joy than this: to hear about my children walking in truth.
Eine größere Freude gibt es für mich nicht, als daß ich höre, wie meine Kinder in der Wahrheit wandeln.
5 Beloved, you do a faithful work in whatever you accomplish for those who are brothers and strangers.
Geliebter, treu gethan von dir ist alles, was du den Brüdern zumal den fremden erweisest,
6 They have testified about your love before the assembly. You will do well to send them forward on their journey in a way worthy of God,
die deiner Liebe angesichts der Gemeinde Zeugnis gegeben haben, und die du wohl thun wirst Gottes würdig zu befördern.
7 because for the sake of the Name they went out, taking nothing from the Gentiles.
Denn um des Namens willen sind sie ausgegangen, und nehmen nichts von den Heidnischen.
8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we may be fellow workers for the truth.
Wir sind daher verpflichtet, uns solcher anzunehmen, damit wir Mitarbeiter werden für die Wahrheit.
9 I wrote to the assembly, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first amongst them, doesn’t accept what we say.
Ich habe der Gemeinde etwas geschrieben; aber Diotrephes, der bei ihnen der erste sein will, nimmt uns nicht an.
10 Therefore, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words. Not content with this, he doesn’t receive the brothers himself, and those who would, he forbids and throws out of the assembly.
Darum, wenn ich komme, will ich ihm der Werke gedenken, die er thut, indem er uns mit bösen Worten verdächtigt, und, daran nicht genug, die Brüder selbst nicht annimmt, und noch die verhindert, die es thun wollen, und aus der Gemeinde ausstößt.
11 Beloved, don’t imitate that which is evil, but that which is good. He who does good is of God. He who does evil hasn’t seen God.
Geliebter, ahme nicht das Böse nach, sondern das Gute. Wer Gutes thut, ist von Gott; wer Böses thut, hat Gott nicht gesehen.
12 Demetrius has the testimony of all, and of the truth itself; yes, we also testify, and you know that our testimony is true.
Demetrius hat sein Zeugnis von allen und von der Wahrheit selbst, ja auch wir geben es, und du weißt, daß unser Zeugnis wahr ist.
13 I had many things to write to you, but I am unwilling to write to you with ink and pen;
Ich hätte dir vieles zu schreiben, aber ich mag es nicht mit Tinte und Feder thun.
14 but I hope to see you soon. Then we will speak face to face. Peace be to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.
Ich hoffe dich aber bald zu sehen, dann wollen wir von Mund zu Mund reden. Friede dir. Es grüßen dich die Freunde; grüße die Freunde namentlich.
