2 Kings 16

1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah, Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

El año 17 de Peca, hijo de Remalías, [rey de Israel], comenzó a reinar Acaz, hijo de Jotam, rey de Judá.

2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. He didn’t do that which was right in the LORD his God’s eyes, like David his father.

Acaz tenía 19 años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén 16 años. Pero no hizo lo recto ante Yavé su ʼElohim, como su antepasado David,

3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and even made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.

sino anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel. Incluso hizo pasar a su hijo por el fuego, según las repugnancias de los pueblos que Yavé expulsó de delante de los hijos de Israel.

4 He sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree.

Asimismo sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, sobre las colinas y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

5 Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to wage war. They besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

Entonces Rezín, rey de Siria, y Peca, hijo de Remalías, rey de Israel, subieron a Jerusalén para hacer la guerra. Sitiaron a Acaz, pero no prevalecieron.

6 At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drove the Jews from Elath; and the Syrians came to Elath, and lived there to this day.

En aquel tiempo Rezín, rey de Siria, recuperó Elat para Siria, y expulsó a los judíos de Elat. Los sirios fueron a Elat, donde viven hasta hoy.

7 So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your son. Come up and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who rise up against me.”

Entonces Acaz envió mensajeros a Tiglat-pileser, rey de Asiria, para decirle: Soy tu esclavo y tu hijo. Sube y sálvame de la mano del rey de Siria y del rey de Israel, que se levantaron contra mí.

8 Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the LORD’s house, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

Acaz tomó la plata y el oro que encontró en la Casa de Yavé y en los tesoros de la casa real, y envió un presente al rey de Asiria.

9 The king of Assyria listened to him; and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus and took it, and carried its people captive to Kir, and killed Rezin.

El rey de Asiria lo atendió, subió contra Damasco y la tomó. Llevó cautivos a sus habitantes a Kir, y mató a Rezín.

10 King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and King Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest a drawing of the altar and plans to build it.

Cuando el rey Acaz fue a Damasco a encontrarse con Tiglat-pileser, rey de Asiria, observó el altar que estaba en Damasco. El rey Acaz envió al sacerdote Urías el diseño y el modelo del altar, según toda su hechura.

11 Urijah the priest built an altar. According to all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so Urijah the priest made it for the coming of King Ahaz from Damascus.

El sacerdote Urías construyó el altar según todo lo que envió el rey Acaz desde Damasco. Así lo hizo el sacerdote Urías antes que el rey Acaz regresara de Damasco.

12 When the king had come from Damascus, the king saw the altar; and the king came near to the altar, and offered on it.

Cuando el rey llegó de Damasco y vio el altar, se acercó a él y ofreció sacrificios sobre él.

13 He burnt his burnt offering and his meal offering, poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings on the altar.

Quemó su holocausto y ofrenda, derramó sus libaciones y roció la sangre de sus sacrificios de paz junto al altar.

14 The bronze altar, which was before the LORD, he brought from the front of the house, from between his altar and the LORD’s house, and put it on the north side of his altar.

En cuanto al altar de bronce que estaba delante de Yavé, lo desplazó de delante del Lugar Santísimo, de entre el altar y el Lugar Santísimo de Yavé, y lo puso en el lado norte de su altar.

15 King Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, “On the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, the evening meal offering, the king’s burnt offering and his meal offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, their meal offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle on it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice; but the bronze altar will be for me to enquire by.”

Y el rey Acaz mandó al sacerdote Urías: Quema el holocausto de la mañana y la ofrenda cuando llega la noche, el holocausto del rey y su ofrenda sobre el gran altar. De igual manera quema el holocausto de todo el pueblo de la tierra, su ofrenda y sus libaciones. Rocía sobre él toda la sangre del holocausto y toda la sangre del sacrificio. Pero el altar de bronce será para yo consultar.

16 Urijah the priest did so, according to all that King Ahaz commanded.

El sacerdote Urías hizo según todo lo que el rey Acaz mandó.

17 King Ahaz cut off the panels of the bases, and removed the basin from off them, and took down the sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it, and put it on a pavement of stone.

El rey Acaz cortó además los bordes de las basas y quitó las piletas de encima de ellas. Hizo bajar el mar de sobre los bueyes de bronce que estaban debajo, y lo puso sobre un pavimento de piedra.

18 He removed the covered way for the Sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king’s outer entrance to the LORD’s house, because of the king of Assyria.

Asimismo, a causa del rey de Asiria, quitó el patio cubierto para el sábado que construyeron en la Casa y la entrada exterior del rey.

19 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Los demás hechos de Acaz, ¿no están escritos en el rollo de las Crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

20 Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in David’s city; and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.

Acaz reposó con sus antepasados, y fue sepultado en la Ciudad de David. Reinó en su lugar su hijo Ezequías.
