2 Chronicles 25
1 Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jehoaddan, of Jerusalem.
De vinte e cinco anos era Amazias quando começou a reinar, e vinte e nove anos reinou em Jerusalém: o nome de sua mãe foi Jeoadã, de Jerusalém.
2 He did that which was right in the LORD’s eyes, but not with a perfect heart.
Fez ele o que era correto aos olhos do SENHOR ainda que não de coração íntegro.
3 Now when the kingdom was established to him, he killed his servants who had killed his father the king.
E logo que foi confirmado no reino, matou os seus servos que haviam matado o seu pai, o rei;
4 But he didn’t put their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the Torah in the book of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.”
Mas não matou aos filhos deles, segundo o que está escrito na lei no livro de Moisés, de onde o SENHOR mandou, dizendo: Não morrerão os pais pelos filhos, nem os filhos pelos pais; mas cada um morrerá por seu pecado.
5 Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together and ordered them according to their fathers’ houses, under captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, even all Judah and Benjamin. He counted them from twenty years old and upward, and found that there were three hundred thousand chosen men, able to go out to war, who could handle spear and shield.
Juntou logo Amazias a Judá, e com arranjo às famílias pôs-lhes capitães de milhares e comandantes de cem por todo Judá e Benjamim; e tomou-os por lista de vinte anos acima, e foram achados neles trezentos mil escolhidos para sair à guerra, que tinham lança e escudo.
6 He also hired one hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for one hundred talents of silver.
E de Israel contratou a dinheiro cem mil homens valentes, por cem talentos de prata.
7 A man of God came to him, saying, “O king, don’t let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel, with all the children of Ephraim.
Mas um homem de Deus veio a ele, dizendo-lhe: Rei, não vá contigo o exército de Israel; porque o SENHOR não é com Israel, nem com todos os filhos de Efraim.
8 But if you will go, take action, and be strong for the battle. God will overthrow you before the enemy; for God has power to help, and to overthrow.”
Porém se tu vais, se o fazes, e te esforças para lutar, Deus te fará cair diante dos inimigos; porque em Deus está a força, ou para ajudar, ou para derrubar.
9 Amaziah said to the man of God, “But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel?” The man of God answered, “The LORD is able to give you much more than this.”
E Amazias disse ao homem de Deus: Que, pois, se fará de cem talentos que dei ao exército de Israel? E o homem de Deus respondeu: Do SENHOR é dar-te muito mais que isto.
10 Then Amaziah separated them, the army that had come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again. Therefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in fierce anger.
Então Amazias separou o esquadrão da gente que havia vindo a ele de Efraim, para que se fossem a suas casas: e eles se iraram grandemente contra Judá, e voltaram a suas casas encolerizados.
11 Amaziah took courage, and led his people out and went to the Valley of Salt, and struck ten thousand of the children of Seir.
Esforçando-se então Amazias, tirou seu povo, e veio ao vale do sal: e feriu dos filhos de Seir dez mil.
12 The children of Judah carried away ten thousand alive, and brought them to the top of the rock, and threw them down from the top of the rock, so that they all were broken in pieces.
E os filhos de Judá tomaram vivos outros dez mil, os quais levaram ao cume de um penhasco, e dali os atiraram abaixo, e todos se fizeram em pedaços.
13 But the men of the army whom Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell on the cities of Judah from Samaria even to Beth Horon, and struck of them three thousand, and took much plunder.
Porém os do esquadrão que Amazias havia despedido, porque não fossem com ele à guerra, derramaram-se sobre as cidades de Judá, desde Samaria até Bete-Horom, e feriram deles três mil, e tomaram um grande despojo.
14 Now after Amaziah had come from the slaughter of the Edomites, he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them and burnt incense to them.
Regressando logo Amasias da matança dos edomitas, trouxe também consigo os deuses dos filhos de Seir, e os pôs para si por deuses, e encurvou-se diante deles, e queimou-lhes incenso.
15 Therefore the LORD’s anger burnt against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet who said to him, “Why have you sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of your hand?”
Acendeu-se, portanto, o furor do SENHOR contra Amasias, e enviou a ele um profeta, que lhe disse: Por que buscaste os deuses de gente estrangeira, que não livraram a seu povo de tuas mãos?
16 As he talked with him, the king said to him, “Have we made you one of the king’s counsellors? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” Then the prophet stopped, and said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”
E falando-lhe o profeta estas coisas, ele lhe respondeu: Puseram a ti por conselheiro do rei? Deixa-te disso: por que queres que te matem? E ao cessar, o profeta disse logo: Eu sei que Deus decidiu destruir-te, porque fizeste isto, e não obedeceste a meu conselho.
17 Then Amaziah king of Judah consulted his advisers, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come! Let’s look one another in the face.”
E Amazias rei de Judá, havido seu conselho, enviou a dizer a Joás, filho de Jeoacaz filho de Jeú, rei de Israel: Vem, e vejamo-nos face a face.
18 Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, “The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son as his wife. Then a wild animal that was in Lebanon passed by and trampled down the thistle.
Então Joás rei de Israel enviou a dizer a Amazias rei de Judá: O cardo que estava no Líbano, enviou ao cedro que estava no Líbano, dizendo: Da tua filha a meu filho por mulher. E eis que os animais selvagens que estavam no Líbano, passaram, e pisotearam o cardo.
19 You say to yourself that you have struck Edom; and your heart lifts you up to boast. Now stay at home. Why should you meddle with trouble, that you should fall, even you and Judah with you?’”
Tu dizes: Eis que feri a Edom; e teu coração se enaltece para gloriar-te: agora fica-te em tua casa; para que te intrometes em mal, para cair tu e Judá contigo?
20 But Amaziah would not listen; for it was of God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they had sought after the gods of Edom.
Mas Amasias não quis ouvir; porque isto era da parte de Deus, que queria os entregar nas mãos de seus inimigos, porquanto haviam buscado os deuses de Edom.
21 So Joash king of Israel went up, and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah.
Subiu, pois, Joás rei de Israel, e vieram face a face ele e Amazias rei de Judá, em Bete-Semes, a qual é de Judá.
22 Judah was defeated by Israel; so every man fled to his tent.
Porém caiu Judá diante de Israel, e fugiu cada um a sua morada.
23 Joash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth Shemesh and brought him to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
E Joás rei de Israel prendeu em Bete-Semes a Amazias rei de Judá, filho de Joás filho de Jeoacaz, e levou-o a Jerusalém: e derrubou o muro de Jerusalém desde a porta de Efraim até a porta da esquina, quatrocentos côvados.
24 He took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in God’s house with Obed-Edom, and the treasures of the king’s house, and the hostages, and returned to Samaria.
Assim tomou todo o ouro e prata, e todos os vasos que se acharam na casa de Deus em casa de Obede-Edom, e os tesouros da casa do rei, e os filhos dos príncipes, e voltou-se a Samaria.
25 Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived for fifteen years after the death of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.
E viveu Amazias filho de Joás, rei de Judá, quinze anos depois da morte de Joás filho de Jeoacaz rei de Israel.
26 Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, aren’t they written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?
Os demais dos feitos de Amazias, primeiros e últimos, não estão escritos no livro dos reis de Judá e de Israel?
27 Now from the time that Amaziah turned away from following the LORD, they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem. He fled to Lachish, but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.
Desde aquele tempo que Amazias se separou do SENHOR, maquinaram contra ele conspiração em Jerusalém; e havendo ele fugido a Laquis, enviaram atrás ele a Laquis, e ali o mataram;
28 They brought him on horses and buried him with his fathers in the City of Judah.
E trouxeram-no em cavalos, e sepultaram-no com seus pais na cidade de Judá.
