1 Samuel 13
1 Saul was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned over Israel forty-two years.
| شائول سی ساله بود که پادشاه شد و چهل و دو سال بر اسرائیل سلطنت کرد. |
2 Saul chose for himself three thousand men of Israel, of which two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in the Mount of Bethel, and one thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin. He sent the rest of the people to their own tents.
| شائول سه هزار نفر از مردان اسرائیلی را برگزید و از ایشان دو هزار نفر را با خود برداشته، به مخماس و کوه بیت‌ئیل برد و هزار نفر دیگر را نزد پسرش یوناتان در جِبعه واقع در ملک بنیامین گذاشت و بقیه را به خانه‌هایشان فرستاد. |
3 Jonathan struck the garrison of the Philistines that was in Geba, and the Philistines heard of it. Saul blew the shofar throughout all the land, saying, “Let the Hebrews hear!”
| یوناتان به قرارگاه فلسطینی‌ها در جِبَع حمله کرد و افراد آنجا را از پای درآورد و این خبر فوری به گوش فلسطینیان رسید. شائول با نواختن کرنا به سراسر اسرائیل پیغام فرستاد که برای جنگ آماده شوند. |
4 All Israel heard that Saul had struck the garrison of the Philistines, and also that Israel was considered an abomination to the Philistines. The people were gathered together after Saul to Gilgal.
| وقتی بنی‌اسرائیل شنیدند که شائول به قرارگاه فلسطینی‌ها حمله کرده است و اینکه اسرائیلی‌ها مورد نفرت فلسطینی‌ها قرار گرفته‌اند، در جِلجال نزد شائول گرد آمدند. |
5 The Philistines assembled themselves together to fight with Israel: thirty thousand chariots, six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the seashore in multitude. They came up and encamped in Michmash, eastward of Beth Aven.
| فلسطینی‌ها لشکر عظیمی که شامل سه هزار ارابه، شش هزار سرباز سواره و عدهٔ بی‌شماری سرباز پیاده بود، فراهم نمودند. آنها در مخماس واقع در سمت شرقی بیت‌آون اردو زدند. |
6 When the men of Israel saw that they were in trouble (for the people were distressed), then the people hid themselves in caves, in thickets, in rocks, in tombs, and in pits.
| اسرائیلی‌ها، چون چشمشان به لشکر عظیم دشمن افتاد، روحیهٔ خود را باختند و سعی کردند در غارها و بیشه‌ها، چاهها و حفره‌ها، و در میان صخره‌ها خود را پنهان کنند. |
7 Now some of the Hebrews had gone over the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead; but as for Saul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling.
| بعضی از ایشان نیز از رود اردن گذشته، به سرزمین جاد و جلعاد گریختند. ولی شائول در جلجال ماند و همراهانش از شدت ترس می‌لرزیدند. |
8 He stayed seven days, according to the time set by Samuel; but Samuel didn’t come to Gilgal, and the people were scattering from him.
| سموئیل به شائول گفته بود که پس از هفت روز می‌آید، ولی از او خبری نبود و سربازان شائول به تدریج پراکنده می‌شدند. |
9 Saul said, “Bring the burnt offering to me here, and the peace offerings.” He offered the burnt offering.
| پس شائول تصمیم گرفت خود، مراسم تقدیم قربانیهای سوختنی و سلامتی را اجرا کند. |
10 It came to pass that as soon as he had finished offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might greet him.
| درست در پایان مراسم تقدیم قربانی سوختنی، سموئیل از راه رسید و شائول به استقبال وی شتافت. |
11 Samuel said, “What have you done?” Saul said, “Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that you didn’t come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines assembled themselves together at Michmash,
| اما سموئیل به او گفت: «این چه کاری بود که کردی؟» شائول پاسخ داد: «چون دیدم سربازان من پراکنده می‌شوند و تو نیز به موقع نمی‌آیی و فلسطینی‌ها هم در مخماس آمادهٔ جنگ هستند، |
12 therefore I said, ‘Now the Philistines will come down on me to Gilgal, and I haven’t entreated the favour of the LORD.’ I forced myself therefore, and offered the burnt offering.”
| به خود گفتم که فلسطینی‌ها هر آن ممکن است در جِلجال به ما حمله کنند و من حتی فرصت پیدا نکرده‌ام از خداوند کمک بخواهم. پس مجبور شدم خودم قربانی سوختنی را تقدیم کنم.» |
13 Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which he commanded you; for now the LORD would have established your kingdom on Israel forever.
| سموئیل به شائول گفت: «کار احمقانه‌ای کردی، زیرا از فرمان خداوند، خدایت سرپیچی نمودی. اگر اطاعت می‌کردی خداوند اجازه می‌داد تو و نسل تو همیشه بر اسرائیل سلطنت کنید، |
14 But now your kingdom will not continue. The LORD has sought for himself a man after his own heart, and the LORD has appointed him to be prince over his people, because you have not kept that which the LORD commanded you.”
| اما اینک سلطنت تو دیگر ادامه نخواهد یافت. خداوند مرد دلخواه خود را پیدا خواهد کرد تا او را رهبر قومش سازد، زیرا فرمان خداوند را نگاه نداشتی.» |
15 Samuel arose, and went from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin. Saul counted the people who were present with him, about six hundred men.
| سموئیل از جلجال به جِبعه که در سرزمین بنیامین بود، رفت. شائول سربازانی را که نزد وی باقی مانده بودند شمرد. تعداد آنها ششصد نفر بود. |
16 Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people who were present with them, stayed in Geba of Benjamin; but the Philistines encamped in Michmash.
| شائول و یوناتان با این ششصد نفر در جِبعۀ بنیامین اردو زدند. فلسطینی‌ها هنوز در مخماس بودند. |
17 The raiders came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies: one company turned to the way that leads to Ophrah, to the land of Shual;
| طولی نکشید که سه دسته از اردوگاه فلسطینی‌ها بیرون آمدند، یک دسته به عُفره که در سرزمین شوعال واقع شده بود رفت، |
18 another company turned the way to Beth Horon; and another company turned the way of the border that looks down on the valley of Zeboim towards the wilderness.
| دستۀ دیگر به بیت‌حورون شتافت و سومی به طرف مرز بالای درۀ صبوئیم که مشرف به بیابان بود، حرکت کرد. |
19 Now there was no blacksmith found throughout all Eretz-Israel, for the Philistines said, “Lest the Hebrews make themselves swords or spears”;
| در آن روزها در اسرائیل آهنگری یافت نمی‌شد، چون فلسطینی‌ها می‌ترسیدند عبرانی‌ها برای خود شمشیر و نیزه بسازند، پس اجازه نمی‌دادند پای هیچ آهنگری به اسرائیل برسد. |
20 but all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, each man to sharpen his own ploughshare, mattock, axe, and sickle.
| بنابراین هر وقت اسرائیلی‌ها می‌خواستند گاوآهن، بیل، تبر، و داس خود را تیز کنند آنها را به فلسطین می‌بردند. |
21 The price was one payim each to sharpen mattocks, ploughshares, pitchforks, axes, and goads.
| (اجرت تیز کردن گاوآهن و بیل، هشت گرم نقره و اجرت تیز کردن تبر و چنگال سه دندانه و داس، چهار گرم نقره بود.) |
22 So it came to pass in the day of battle that neither sword nor spear was found in the hand of any of the people who were with Saul and Jonathan; but Saul and Jonathan his son had them.
| به این ترتیب در آن موقع سربازان اسرائیلی شمشیر یا نیزه نداشتند، ولی شائول و یوناتان داشتند. |
23 The garrison of the Philistines went out to the pass of Michmash.
| فلسطینی‌ها یک دسته از سربازان خود را اعزام کردند تا از گذرگاه مخماس دفاع کنند. |
