Romans 2
1 Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.
Por lo tanto no tienes excusa, oh hombre, quienquiera que seas, al juzgar; porque en lo que juzgas a otro, a ti mismo te condenas; puesto que tú que juzgas incurres en lo mismo.
2 We know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.
Pues sabemos que el juicio de Dios contra los que practican tales cosas, es según la verdad.
3 Do you think this, O man who judges those who practice such things, and do the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?
¿Piensas tú, oh hombre, que juzgas a los que tales cosas hacen y las practicas tú mismo, que escaparás al juicio de Dios?
4 Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
¿O desprecias la riqueza de su bondad, paciencia y longanimidad, ignorando que la benignidad de Dios te lleva al arrepentimiento?
5 But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God,
Conforme a tu dureza y tu corazón impenitente, te atesoras ira para el día de la cólera y de la revelación del justo juicio de Dios,
6 who “will pay back to everyone according to their works:”
el cual dará a cada uno el pago según sus obras:
7 to those who by perseverance in well-doing seek for glory, honor, and incorruptibility, eternal life; (aiōnios g166)
a los que, perseverando en el bien obrar, buscan gloria y honra e incorruptibilidad, vida eterna; (aiōnios g166)
8 but to those who are self-seeking and don’t obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, will be wrath, indignation,
mas a los rebeldes, y a los que no obedecen a la verdad, pero sí obedecen a la injusticia, ira y enojo.
9 oppression, and anguish on every soul of man who does evil, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Tribulación y angustia para toda alma humana que obra el mal: primero para el judío, y también para el griego;
10 But glory, honor, and peace go to every man who does good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
pero gloria y honra y paz para aquel que obra el bien: primero para el judío, y también para el griego.
11 For there is no partiality with God.
Pues en Dios no hay acepción de personas.
12 For as many as have sinned without the law will also perish without the law. As many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.
Porque cuantos han pecado sin la Ley, sin la Ley también perecerán; y cuantos han pecado bajo la Ley, según la Ley serán juzgados.
13 For it isn’t the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be justified
Pues no los que oyen la Ley son justos ante Dios; sino que serán justificados los que cumplen la Ley.
14 (for when Gentiles who don’t have the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are a law to themselves,
Cuando los gentiles, que no tienen Ley, hacen por la razón natural las cosas de la Ley, ellos, sin tener Ley, son Ley para sí mismos,
15 in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying with them, and their thoughts among themselves accusing or else excusing them)
pues muestran que la obra de la Ley está escrita en sus corazones, por cuanto les da testimonio su conciencia y sus razonamientos, acusándolos o excusándolos recíprocamente.
16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men, according to my Good News, by Jesus Christ.
Así será, pues, en el día en que juzgará Dios por medio de Jesucristo, los secretos de los hombres según mi Evangelio.
17 Indeed you bear the name of a Jew, rest on the law, glory in God,
Pero, si tú que te llamas judío, y descansas sobre la Ley, y te glorías en Dios,
18 know his will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,
y conoces su voluntad, y experimentas las cosas excelentes, siendo amaestrado por la Ley,
19 and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
y presumes de ser guía de ciegos, luz para los que están en tinieblas,
20 a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babies, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.
educador de ignorantes, maestro de niños, teniendo en la Ley la norma del saber y de la verdad,
21 You therefore who teach another, don’t you teach yourself? You who preach that a man shouldn’t steal, do you steal?
tú pues, que enseñas a otro, ¿no te enseñas a ti mismo? Tú que predicas que no se debe hurtar, ¿hurtas?
22 You who say a man shouldn’t commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?
Tú que dices que no se debe adulterar, ¿cometes adulterio? Tú que aborreces a los ídolos, ¿saqueas los templos?
23 You who glory in the law, do you dishonor God by disobeying the law?
Tú que te glorías en la Ley, ¿traspasando la Ley deshonras a Dios?
24 For “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” just as it is written.
“Porque el nombre de Dios es blasfemado por causa de vosotros entre los gentiles”, según está escrito.
25 For circumcision indeed profits, if you are a doer of the law, but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
La circuncisión en verdad aprovecha si cumples la Ley, mas si eres transgresor de la Ley, tu circuncisión se ha hecho incircuncisión.
26 If therefore the uncircumcised keep the ordinances of the law, won’t his uncircumcision be accounted as circumcision?
Si, pues, los incircuncisos guardaren los preceptos de la Ley, ¿no se reputará su incircuncisión por circuncisión?
27 Won’t those who are physically uncircumcised, but fulfill the law, judge you, who with the letter and circumcision are a transgressor of the law?
Y aquellos que en naturaleza son incircuncisos, si cumplieren la Ley, ¿no te juzgarán a ti que, con la letra y la circuncisión, eres transgresor de la Ley?
28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh;
Porque no es judío el que lo es exteriormente, ni es circuncisión la que se hace por fuera en la carne;
29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God.
antes bien es judío el que lo es en lo interior, y es circuncisión la del corazón según el espíritu y no según la letra, cuya alabanza no es de los hombres sino de Dios.
