Revelation 18
1 After these things, I saw another angel coming down out of the sky, having great authority. The earth was illuminated with his glory.
Nach diesem sah ich einen anderen Engel herabkommen vom Himmel mit großer Gewalt, und die Erde ward erleuchtet von seiner Herrlichkeit.
2 He cried with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and she has become a habitation of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hated bird!
Und er rief mit starker Stimme: gefallen, gefallen ist die große Babylon, und ward eine Behausung für Dämonen und ein Gefängnis aller unreinen Geister und Gefängnis aller unreinen und verhaßten Vögel,
3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality, the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from the abundance of her luxury.”
denn aus dem Zornwein ihrer Unzucht haben alle Nationen getrunken, und die Könige der Erde haben mit ihr Unzucht getrieben, und die Kaufleute der Erde sind von der Gewalt ihrer Ueppigkeit reich geworden.
4 I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, that you have no participation in her sins, and that you don’t receive of her plagues,
Und ich hörte eine andere Stimme vom Himmel: gehet hinaus ihr mein Volk von ihr, damit ihr nicht Teil nehmet an ihren Sünden, und von ihren Plagen, daß ihr sie nicht empfanget;
5 for her sins have reached to the sky, and God has remembered her iniquities.
denn ihre Sünden reichten bis zum Himmel, und Gott hat ihrer Frevelthaten gedacht.
6 Return to her just as she returned, and repay her double as she did, and according to her works. In the cup which she mixed, mix to her double.
Vergeltet ihr wie sie gethan, und verdoppelt es gegen ihre Thaten; mit dem Becher, den sie gemischt, mischet ihr zwiefach;
7 However much she glorified herself and grew wanton, so much give her of torment and mourning. For she says in her heart, ‘I sit a queen, and am no widow, and will in no way see mourning.’
wie sie sich selbst verherrlicht und Ueppigkeit gepflegt hat, in dem Maße gebt ihr Qual und Leid, weil sie in ihrem Herzen spricht: ich sitze als Königin und bin nicht Witwe, und werde nimmermehr Trauer sehen.
8 Therefore in one day her plagues will come: death, mourning, and famine; and she will be utterly burned with fire, for the Lord God who has judged her is strong.
Darum werden ihre Plagen kommen an einem Tage, Tod und Trauer und Hunger, und sie soll im Feuer verbrannt werden; denn stark ist der Herr Gott, der sie gerichtet.
9 The kings of the earth who committed sexual immorality and lived wantonly with her will weep and wail over her, when they look at the smoke of her burning,
Und es werden heulen und wehklagen über sie die Könige der Erde, die mit ihr Unzucht und Ueppigkeit getrieben, wenn sie sehen den Rauch von ihrem Brand,
10 standing far away for the fear of her torment, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For your judgment has come in one hour.’
von ferne stehend aus Furcht vor ihrer Qual, und rufend: wehe, wehe, du große Stadt Babylon, du starke Stadt, daß in Einer Stunde dein Gericht gekommen ist.
11 The merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise any more:
Und die Kaufleute der Erde heulen und trauern über sie, weil niemand mehr ihre Waare kauft,
12 merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple, silk, scarlet, all expensive wood, every vessel of ivory, every vessel made of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble;
Waaren von Gold, Silber, Edelstein, Perlen, Linnenzeug, Purpur, Seide, Scharlachstoff, all das Thujaholz, die Geräte alle von Elfenbein, die von kostbaren Hölzern, von Erz, Eisen, Marmor,
13 and cinnamon, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, chariots, and people’s bodies and souls.
auch Zimmt, Amomsalbe, Räucherwerk, Myrrhe, Weihrauch, Wein, Oel, Feinmehl, Weizen, Hornvieh, Schafe, Pferde, Wagen und Knechte, und Menschenseelen.
14 The fruits which your soul lusted after have been lost to you. All things that were dainty and sumptuous have perished from you, and you will find them no more at all.
Und die Sommerfrucht für deiner Seele Lust ist von dir gewichen, und all der Glanz und Flitter ist dir verloren und nicht mehr zu finden.
15 The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, will stand far away for the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning,
Die Händler dieser Dinge, die an ihr reich geworden, werden von ferne stehen aus Furcht vor ihrer Qual, heulend und trauernd
16 saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls!
und rufend: wehe, wehe, du große Stadt, die du gekleidet warst in Leinen und Purpur und Scharlach, und vergoldet mit Gold, Edelsteinen und Perlen; denn in Einer Stunde ist all dieser Reichtum verödet.
17 For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.’ Every ship master, and everyone who sails anywhere, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood far away,
Und all die Steuerleute und Küstenfahrer und Schiffsleute und was auf dem Meer arbeitet, standen von ferne
18 and cried out as they looked at the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like the great city?’
und schrien, da sie den Rauch von ihrem Brande sahen: wo ist eine Stadt so groß wie diese?
19 They cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had their ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her great wealth!’ For she is made desolate in one hour.
Und sie warfen Staub auf ihre Köpfe, und schrien unter Heulen und Wehklagen: wehe, wehe, du große Stadt, in welcher reich geworden sind die Besitzer der Schiffe auf der See durch ihren Wohlstand; denn sie ist verödet in Einer Stunde.
20 “Rejoice over her, O heaven, you saints, apostles, and prophets, for God has judged your judgment on her.”
Freue dich über ihr, du Himmel, und ihr Heilige und Apostel und Propheten, denn Gott hat für euch Gericht gehalten an ihr.
21 A mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying, “Thus with violence will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down, and will be found no more at all.
Und ein starker Engel hob einen Stein wie einen großen Mühlstein, und warf ihn ins Meer mit den Worten: so wird mit einem Schwung Babylon die große Stadt dahingeworfen und nicht mehr gefunden werden.
22 The voice of harpists, minstrels, flute players, and trumpeters will be heard no more at all in you. No craftsman of whatever craft will be found any more at all in you. The sound of a mill will be heard no more at all in you.
Und kein Ton von Citherspielern, Musikern, Flötisten und Trompetern soll mehr in dir vernommen werden, und kein Künstler irgend eines Gewerbes soll mehr in dir gefunden, und kein Geräusch des Mühlsteins mehr gehört werden in dir.
23 The light of a lamp will shine no more at all in you. The voice of the bridegroom and of the bride will be heard no more at all in you, for your merchants were the princes of the earth; for with your sorcery all the nations were deceived.
Und kein Leuchter soll mehr in dir scheinen, und kein Jubel von Bräutigam und Braut mehr in dir vernommen werden, du, deren Kaufleute waren die Großen der Erde, weil durch deinen Zauber alle Nationen berückt wurden;
24 In her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on the earth.”
und es ward in ihr gefunden Propheten- und Heiligenblut, Blut aller die auf der Erde dahingeschlachtet sind.
