Psalms 49

1 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by the sons of Korah. Hear this, all you peoples. Listen, all you inhabitants of the world,

സംഗീതസംവിധായകന്. കോരഹ് പുത്രന്മാരുടെ ഒരു സങ്കീർത്തനം. സർവജനതകളുമേ, നിങ്ങൾ ഇതു കേൾക്കുക; ഈ ഭൂമിയിൽ അധിവസിക്കുന്ന സകലരുമേ, ഇതു ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക,

2 both low and high, rich and poor together.

താഴ്ന്നവരും ഉന്നതരും ധനികരും ദരിദ്രരും ഒരുപോലെ കേൾക്കുക:

3 My mouth will speak words of wisdom. My heart will utter understanding.

എന്റെ വായ് ജ്ഞാനം സംസാരിക്കും; എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ ധ്യാനം വിവേകം മന്ത്രിക്കും.

4 I will incline my ear to a proverb. I will solve my riddle on the harp.

സുഭാഷിതത്തിനു ഞാൻ എന്റെ ചെവിചായ്‌ക്കും; കിന്നരവാദ്യത്തോടെ ഞാൻ കടങ്കഥയ്ക്ക് ഉത്തരം പറയും:

5 Why should I fear in the days of evil, when iniquity at my heels surrounds me?

വഞ്ചകരായ ദുഷ്ടർ എന്നെ വലയംചെയ്യുകയും കഷ്ടതയുടെദിനങ്ങൾ വരികയുംചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ എന്തിനു ഭയപ്പെടണം?

6 Those who trust in their wealth, and boast in the multitude of their riches—

അവർ അവരുടെ ധനത്തിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുകയും തങ്ങളുടെ മഹത്തായ സമ്പത്തിൽ ഊറ്റംകൊള്ളുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവരാണ്.

7 none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give God a ransom for him.

മറ്റൊരാളുടെ ജീവൻ വീണ്ടെടുക്കുന്നതിനോ അയാളുടെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുവില ദൈവത്തിനു നൽകുന്നതിനോ ആരാലും സാധ്യമല്ല—

8 For the redemption of their life is costly, no payment is ever enough,

ഒരാൾ സദാ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതിനും ജീർണത കാണാതിരിക്കുന്നതിനുമായി എന്തു നൽകിയാലും മതിയാകുകയില്ല— ജീവന്റെ മോചനദ്രവ്യം വിലയേറിയതല്ലോ.

9 that he should live on forever, that he should not see corruption.

10 For he sees that wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless perish, and leave their wealth to others.

ജ്ഞാനികൾ മരണത്തിനു കീഴടങ്ങുന്നതും ഭോഷരും വിവേകമില്ലാത്തവരും നശിക്കുന്നതും അവരുടെ സമ്പാദ്യം മറ്റുള്ളവർക്കായി വിട്ടിട്ടുപോകുന്നതും എല്ലാവരും കാണുന്നു.

11 Their inward thought is that their houses will endure forever, and their dwelling places to all generations. They name their lands after themselves.

ദേശങ്ങൾക്ക് അവർ സ്വന്തം പേരിട്ടുവിളിച്ചാലും, ശവകുടീരങ്ങളായിരിക്കും അവരുടെ ശാശ്വതഭവനം, അനന്തര തലമുറകളിലും അതുതന്നെയാണവരുടെ വിശ്രമസ്ഥാനം.

12 But man, despite his riches, doesn’t endure. He is like the animals that perish.

മനുഷ്യർ എത്ര പ്രതാപശാലികൾ ആയിരുന്നാലും അവർക്ക് അമരത്വം ലഭിക്കുകയില്ല; അവർ നശിച്ചുപോകുന്ന മൃഗത്തിനു തുല്യർ.

13 This is the destiny of those who are foolish, and of those who approve their sayings. (Selah)

സ്വയത്തിലാശ്രയിക്കുന്നവരുടെ വിധിനിർണയം ഇതായിരിക്കും, അവരുടെ വാക്കുകൾ കേട്ട് അവരെ അനുഗമിക്കുന്നവരുടെയും ഗതി ഇതുതന്നെ. (സേലാ)

14 They are appointed as a flock for Sheol. Death shall be their shepherd. The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty shall decay in Sheol, far from their mansion. (Sheol h7585)

അവർ ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ മൃതലോകത്തിനായി വിധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; മരണം അവരുടെ ഇടയനായിരിക്കും എന്നാൽ പ്രഭാതത്തിൽ പരമാർഥതയുള്ളവർ അവരെ നയിക്കും. അവരുടെ രാജകീയ മണിമാളികകളിൽനിന്ന് ദൂരെയുള്ള ശ്മശാനത്തിൽ അവരുടെ ശരീരങ്ങൾ അഴുകിച്ചേരും. (Sheol h7585)

15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, for he will receive me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)

എന്നാൽ ദൈവം എന്റെ ജീവനെ പാതാളത്തിന്റെ അധീനതയിൽനിന്നു വീണ്ടെടുക്കും; അവിടന്നെന്നെ സ്വീകരിക്കും, നിശ്ചയം. (സേലാ) (Sheol h7585)

16 Don’t be afraid when a man is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;

മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ ധനം വർധിക്കുകയോ അവരുടെ ഭവനത്തിന്റെ മഹത്ത്വം വർധിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ നീ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടതില്ല;

17 for when he dies he will carry nothing away. His glory won’t descend after him.

കാരണം, മരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഒന്നുംതന്നെ അവർ കൊണ്ടുപോകുകയില്ല, അവരുടെ ധനമാഹാത്മ്യം അവരെ പിൻചെല്ലുകയുമില്ല.

18 Though while he lived he blessed his soul— and men praise you when you do well for yourself—

ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നപ്പോൾ അവർ സ്വയം അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ എന്നു കരുതിവന്നിരുന്നെങ്കിലും— അവരുടെ അഭിവൃദ്ധിയിൽ ജനം അവരെ പുകഴ്ത്തിവന്നെങ്കിലും—

19 he shall go to the generation of his fathers. They shall never see the light.

അവർ തങ്ങൾക്കു മുമ്പുണ്ടായിരുന്നവരെപ്പോലെ മരണമടയുന്നു, അവർ ഇനിയൊരിക്കലും വെളിച്ചം കാണുകയില്ല.

20 A man who has riches without understanding, is like the animals that perish.

സമ്പന്നരെങ്കിലും വിവേകമില്ലാത്തവർ നശിച്ചുപോകുന്ന മൃഗങ്ങൾക്കു സമരായിരിക്കും.
