Matthew 5
1 Seeing the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain. When he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
௧இயேசு திரளான மக்களைக் கண்டு மலையின்மேல் ஏறினார்; அவர் உட்கார்ந்தபொழுது, அவருடைய சீடர்கள் அவரிடத்தில் வந்தார்கள்.
2 He opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
௨அப்பொழுது அவர் அவர்களுக்கு உபதேசித்துச் சொன்னது என்னவென்றால்:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
௩“ஆவியில் எளிமையுள்ளவர்கள் பாக்கியவான்கள்; பரலோகராஜ்யம் அவர்களுடையது.
4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
௪துயரப்படுகிறவர்கள் பாக்கியவான்கள்; அவர்கள் ஆறுதலடைவார்கள்.
5 Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
௫சாந்தகுணமுள்ளவர்கள் பாக்கியவான்கள்; அவர்கள் பூமியைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்வார்கள்.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.
௬நீதியின்மேல் பசிதாகமுள்ளவர்கள் பாக்கியவான்கள்; அவர்கள் திருப்தியடைவார்கள்.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
௭இரக்கமுள்ளவர்கள் பாக்கியவான்கள்; அவர்கள் இரக்கம்பெறுவார்கள்.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
௮இருதயத்தில் சுத்தமுள்ளவர்கள் பாக்கியவான்கள்; அவர்கள் தேவனைத் தரிசிப்பார்கள்.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
௯சமாதானம் செய்கிறவர்கள் பாக்கியவான்கள்; அவர்கள் தேவனுடைய பிள்ளைகள் எனப்படுவார்கள்.
10 Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
௧0நீதியினிமித்தம் துன்பப்படுகிறவர்கள் பாக்கியவான்கள்; பரலோகராஜ்யம் அவர்களுடையது.
11 “Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
௧௧“என்னிமித்தம் உங்களை நிந்தித்துத் துன்பப்படுத்தி, பலவிதமான தீமையான சொற்களையும் உங்கள்மேல் பொய்யாகச் சொல்வார்களானால் பாக்கியவான்களாக இருப்பீர்கள்;
12 Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
௧௨சந்தோஷப்பட்டு மகிழ்ந்திருங்கள்; பரலோகத்தில் உங்களுடைய பலன் அதிகமாக இருக்கும்; உங்களுக்குமுன்பே வாழ்ந்த தீர்க்கதரிசிகளையும் அப்படியே துன்பப்படுத்தினார்களே.
13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.
௧௩நீங்கள் பூமிக்கு உப்பாக இருக்கிறீர்கள்; உப்பானது சாரமற்றுப்போனால், எதினால் சாரமாக்கப்படும்? வெளியே கொட்டப்படுவதற்கும், மனிதர்களால் மிதிக்கப்படுவதற்குமே ஒழிய வேறொன்றுக்கும் உதவாது.
14 You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.
௧௪நீங்கள் உலகத்திற்கு வெளிச்சமாக இருக்கிறீர்கள்; மலையின்மேல் இருக்கிற பட்டணம் மறைந்திருக்கமாட்டாது.
15 Neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.
௧௫விளக்கைக் கொளுத்தி பாத்திரத்தினாலே மூடிவைக்காமல், விளக்குத்தண்டின்மேல் வைப்பார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அது வீட்டிலுள்ள அனைவருக்கும் வெளிச்சம் கொடுக்கும்.
16 Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
௧௬இவ்விதமாக, மனிதர்கள் உங்களுடைய நற்செயல்களைக் கண்டு, பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற உங்களுடைய பிதாவை மகிமைப்படுத்தும்படி, உங்களுடைய வெளிச்சம் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகப் பிரகாசிக்கக்கடவது.
17 “Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.
௧௭நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தையானாலும் தீர்க்கதரிசனங்களையானாலும் அழிக்கிறதற்கு வந்தேன் என்று நினைத்துக்கொள்ளாதேயுங்கள்; அழிக்கிறதற்கு இல்லை, நிறைவேற்றுவதற்கே வந்தேன்.
18 For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished.
௧௮வானமும் பூமியும் ஒழிந்துபோனாலும், நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தில் உள்ளதெல்லாம் நிறைவேறும்வரை, அதில் ஒரு சிறு எழுத்தாவது, ஒரு எழுத்தின் உறுப்பாவது ஒழிந்துபோகாது என்று உண்மையாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
19 Therefore, whoever shall break one of these least commandments and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
௧௯ஆகவே, இந்தக் கட்டளைகள் எல்லாவற்றிலும் சிறிதானதொன்றையாவது மீறி, அவ்விதமாக மனிதர்களுக்குப் போதிக்கிறவன் பரலோகராஜ்யத்தில் எல்லோரையும்விட சிறியவன் எனப்படுவான்; இவைகளைக் கைக்கொண்டு போதிக்கிறவனோ, பரலோகராஜ்யத்தில் பெரியவன் எனப்படுவான்.
20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
௨0வேதபண்டிதர்கள் பரிசேயர்கள் என்பவர்களுடைய நீதியைவிட உங்களுடைய நீதி அதிகமாக இல்லாவிட்டால், பரலோகராஜ்யத்தில் பிரவேசிக்கமாட்டீர்கள் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
21 “You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ and ‘Whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’
௨௧கொலை செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக என்பதும், கொலைசெய்கிறவன் நியாயத்தீர்ப்பிற்கு உரியவனாக இருப்பான் என்பதும், முன்னோர்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டதென்று கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
22 But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be in danger of the judgment. Whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ will be in danger of the council. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
௨௨நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; தன் சகோதரனை நியாயமில்லாமல் கோபித்துக்கொள்பவன் நியாயத்தீர்ப்பிற்கு உரியவனாக இருப்பான்; தன் சகோதரனை வீணனென்று சொல்லுகிறவன் ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்தீர்ப்பிற்கு உரியவனாக இருப்பான்; மூடனே என்று சொல்லுகிறவன் எரிநரகத்திற்கு உரியவனாக இருப்பான். (Geenna g1067)
23 “If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,
௨௩ஆகவே, நீ பலிபீடத்தில் உன் காணிக்கையைச் செலுத்த வந்து, உன்பேரில் உன் சகோதரனுக்குக் குறை உண்டென்று அங்கே நினைவுகூருவாயானால்,
24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
௨௪அங்கே பலிபீடத்தின்முன்பு உன் காணிக்கையை வைத்துவிட்டுப்போய், முதலில் உன் சகோதரனோடு ஒப்புரவாகி, பின்பு வந்து உன் காணிக்கையைச் செலுத்து.
25 Agree with your adversary quickly while you are with him on the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.
௨௫எதிராளி உன்னை நியாயாதிபதியினிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்காமலும், நியாயாதிபதி உன்னைச் சேவகனிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்காமலும், நீ சிறைச்சாலையில் வைக்கப்படாமலும் இருக்கும்படியாக, நீ உன் எதிராளியோடு வழியில் இருக்கும்போதே சீக்கிரமாக அவனோடு சமாதானமாகு.
26 Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there until you have paid the last penny.
௨௬இல்லாவிட்டால், நீ ஒரு காசும் குறைவில்லாமல் செலுத்தித்தீர்க்கும்வரைக்கும் சிறைச்சாலையிலிருந்து வெளியே வரமாட்டாய் என்று உண்மையாகவே உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery;’
௨௭விபசாரம் செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக என்பது முன்னோர்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டதென்று கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
28 but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
௨௮நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; ஒரு பெண்ணை இச்சையோடு பார்க்கிற எவனும் தன் இருதயத்தில் அவளோடு விபசாரம் செய்துவிட்டான்.
29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
௨௯உன் வலது கண் உனக்கு இடறல் உண்டாக்கினால், அதைப் பிடுங்கி எறிந்துபோடு; உன் சரீரம் முழுவதும் நரகத்தில் தள்ளப்படுவதைவிட, உன் உறுப்புகளில் ஒன்று கெட்டுப்போவது உனக்கு நலமாக இருக்கும். (Geenna g1067)

௩0உன் வலது கை உனக்கு இடறல் உண்டாக்கினால், அதை வெட்டி எறிந்துபோடு; உன் சரீரம் முழுவதும் நரகத்தில் தள்ளப்படுவதைவிட. உன் உறுப்புகளில் ஒன்று கெட்டுப்போவது உனக்கு நலமாக இருக்கும். (Geenna g1067)
31 “It was also said, ‘Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,’
௩௧தன் மனைவியை விவாகரத்து செய்கிற எவனும், அவளுக்கு விடுதலைப்பத்திரம் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டது.
32 but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.
௩௨நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; வேசித்தனக் காரணத்தினாலொழிய தன் மனைவியை விவாகரத்து செய்கிறவன், அவளை விபசாரம்செய்யத் தூண்டுகிறவனாக இருப்பான்; அப்படி விவாகரத்து செய்யப்பட்டவளைத் திருமணம் செய்கிறவனும் விபசாரம் செய்கிறவனாக இருப்பான்.
33 “Again you have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,’
௩௩அன்றியும், பொய்யாணையிடாமல், உன் ஆணைகளைக் கர்த்தர் முன்னிலையில் செலுத்துவாயாக என்று முன்னோர்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டதென்று கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
34 but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
௩௪நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; எதையும் செய்வேன் என்று சத்தியம் செய்யவேண்டாம்; பரலோகத்தின்பேரில் சத்தியம் செய்யவேண்டாம், அது தேவனுடைய சிங்காசனம்.
35 nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
௩௫பூமியின்பேரிலும் சத்தியம் செய்யவேண்டாம், அது அவருடைய பாதபடி; எருசலேமின்பேரிலும் சத்தியம் செய்யவேண்டாம், அது மகாராஜாவினுடைய நகரம்.
36 Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.
௩௬உன் தலையின்பேரிலும் சத்தியம் செய்யவேண்டாம், அதின் ஒரு முடியையாவது வெண்மையாக்கவும் கருமையாக்கவும் உன்னால் முடியாதே.
37 But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
௩௭உள்ளதை உள்ளதென்றும், இல்லாததை இல்லையென்றும் சொல்லுங்கள்; இதற்கு மிஞ்சினது தீமையினால் உண்டாயிருக்கும்.
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’
௩௮கண்ணுக்குக் கண், பல்லுக்குப் பல் என்று, சொல்லப்பட்டதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
39 But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
௩௯நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; தீமையோடு எதிர்த்து நிற்கவேண்டாம்; ஒருவன் உன்னை வலது கன்னத்தில் அறைந்தால், அவனுக்கு மறு கன்னத்தையும் காட்டு.
40 If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.
௪0உன்னோடு வழக்காடி உன் ஆடையை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டுமென்று விரும்புகிறவனுக்கு உன் மேலாடையையும் கொடுத்துவிடு.
41 Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
௪௧ஒருவன் உன்னை ஒரு மைல்தூரம் வரக் கட்டாயப்படுத்தினால், அவனோடுகூட இரண்டு மைல்தூரம் போ.
42 Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
௪௨உன்னிடத்தில் கேட்கிறவனுக்குக் கொடு, உன்னிடத்தில் கடன் வாங்க விரும்புகிறவனுக்கு முகங்கோணாதே.
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
௪௩உனக்கடுத்தவனைச் நேசித்து, உன் சத்துருவைப் பகைப்பாயாக என்று சொல்லப்பட்டதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
44 But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
௪௪நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; உங்களுடைய சத்துருக்களை நேசியுங்கள்; உங்களைச் சபிக்கிறவர்களை ஆசீர்வதியுங்கள்; உங்களைப் பகைக்கிறவர்களுக்கு நன்மை செய்யுங்கள்; உங்களை நிந்திக்கிறவர்களுக்காகவும் உங்களைத் துன்பப்படுத்துகிறவர்களுக்காகவும் ஜெபம்பண்ணுங்கள்.
45 that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
௪௫இப்படிச் செய்வதினால் நீங்கள் பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற உங்களுடைய பிதாவிற்குப் பிள்ளைகளாக இருப்பீர்கள்; அவர் தீயவர்கள்மேலும் நல்லவர்கள்மேலும் தமது சூரியனை உதிக்கச்செய்து, நீதியுள்ளவர்கள்மேலும் அநீதியுள்ளவர்கள்மேலும் மழையைப் பெய்யப்பண்ணுகிறார்.
46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
௪௬உங்களை நேசிக்கிறவர்களையே நீங்கள் நேசிப்பீர்களானால், உங்களுக்குப் பலன் என்ன? வரி வசூலிப்பவர்களும் அப்படியே செய்கிறார்கள் அல்லவா?
47 If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
௪௭உங்களுடைய சகோதரர்களைமட்டும் வாழ்த்துவீர்களானால், நீங்கள் விசேஷித்துச் செய்கிறது என்ன? வரி வசூலிப்பவர்களும் அப்படியே செய்கிறார்கள் அல்லவா?
48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
௪௮ஆகவே, பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற உங்களுடைய பிதா பூரண சற்குணராக இருக்கிறதுபோல, நீங்களும் பூரண சற்குணராக இருக்கக்கடவீர்கள்.
