Matthew 5
1 Seeing the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain. When he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
১তিনি প্রচুর লোক দেখে পাহাড়ে উঠলেন; আর তিনি বসার পর তাঁর শিষ্যেরা তাঁর কাছে এলেন।
2 He opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
২তখন তিনি মুখ খুলে তাদের এই শিক্ষা দিতে লাগলেন
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
৩ধন্য যারা আত্মাতে গরিব, কারণ স্বর্গ রাজ্য তাদেরই।
4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
৪ধন্য যারা দুঃখ করে, কারণ তারা সান্ত্বনা পাবে।
5 Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
৫ধন্য যারা বিনয়ী, কারণ তারা ভূমির অধিকারী হবে।
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.
৬ধন্য যারা ধার্মিকতার জন্য ক্ষুধার্ত ও তৃষ্ণার্ত, কারণ তারা পরিতৃপ্ত হবে।
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
৭ধন্য যারা দয়াশীল, কারণ তারা দয়া পাবে।
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
৮ধন্য তারা যাদের মন শুদ্ধ, কারণ তারা ঈশ্বরের দর্শন পাবে।
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
৯ধন্য যারা মিলন করে দেয়, কারণ তারা ঈশ্বরের সন্তান বলে পরিচিত হবে।
10 Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
১০ধন্য যারা ধার্মিকতার জন্য নির্যাতিত হয়েছে, কারণ স্বর্গরাজ্য তাদেরই।
11 “Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
১১ধন্য তোমরা, যখন লোকে আমার জন্য তোমাদের নিন্দা ও নির্যাতন করে এবং মিথ্যা করে তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে সর্বরকম খারাপ কথা বলে।
12 Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
১২আনন্দ করো, খুশি হও, কারণ স্বর্গে তোমাদের পুরষ্কার প্রচুর; কারণ তোমাদের আগে যে ভাববাদীরা ছিলেন, তাদের তারা সেইভাবে নির্যাতন করত।
13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.
১৩তোমরা পৃথিবীর লবণ, কিন্তু লবণের স্বাদ যদি যায়, তবে তা কিভাবে লবণের গুনবিশিষ্ট করা যাবে? তা আর কোনো কাজে লাগে না, কেবল বাইরে ফেলে দেবার ও লোকের পায়ের তলায় দলিত হবার যোগ্য হয়।
14 You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.
১৪তোমরা জগতের আলো; পর্বতের উপরে অবস্থিত শহর গোপন থাকতে পারে না।
15 Neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.
১৫আর লোকে প্রদীপ জ্বালিয়ে ঝুড়ির নীচে রাখে না, কিন্তু দীপাধারের উপরেই রাখে, তাতে তা ঘরের সব লোককে আলো দেয়।
16 Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
১৬সেইভাবে তোমাদের আলো মানুষদের সামনে উজ্জ্বল হোক, যেন তারা তোমাদের ভাল কাজ দেখে তোমাদের স্বর্গস্থ পিতার গৌরব করে।
17 “Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.
১৭মনে কর না যে, আমি আইন কি ভাববাদীগ্রন্থ ধ্বংস করতে এসেছি; আমি ধ্বংস করতে আসিনি, কিন্তু সম্পূর্ণ করতে এসেছি।
18 For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished.
১৮কারণ আমি তোমাদের সত্য বলছি, যে পর্যন্ত আকাশ ও পৃথিবী লুপ্ত না হবে, সে পর্যন্ত আইনের এক মাত্রা কি এক বিন্দুও লুপ্ত হবে না, সবই সফল হবে।
19 Therefore, whoever shall break one of these least commandments and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
১৯অতএব যে কেউ এই সব ছোট আদেশের মধ্যে কোন একটি আদেশ অমান্য করে ও লোকদেরকে সেইভাবে শিক্ষা দেয়, তাকে স্বর্গরাজ্যে অতি ছোট বলা যাবে; কিন্তু যে কেউ সে সব পালন করে ও শিক্ষা দেয়, তাকে স্বর্গরাজ্যে মহান বলা যাবে।
20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
২০কারণ আমি তোমাদের বলছি, ব্যবস্থার শিক্ষক ও ফরীশীদের থেকে তোমাদের ধার্ম্মিকতা যদি বেশি না হয়, তবে তোমরা কোনো মতে স্বর্গরাজ্যে প্রবেশ করতে পারবে না।
21 “You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ and ‘Whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’
২১তোমরা শুনেছ, আগের কালের লোকদের কাছে বলা হয়েছিল, “তুমি নরহত্যা কর না,” আর যে নরহত্যা করে, সে বিচারের দায়ে পড়বে।
22 But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be in danger of the judgment. Whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ will be in danger of the council. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
২২কিন্তু আমি তোমাদের বলছি, যে কেউ নিজের ভাইয়ের প্রতি রাগ করে, সে বিচারের দায়ে পড়বে; আর যে কেউ নিজের ভাইকে বলে, রে বোকা, সে মহাসভার দায়ে পড়বে। আর যে কেউ বলে রে মূর্খ সে নরকের আগুনের দায়ে পড়বে। (Geenna g1067)
23 “If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,
২৩অতএব তুমি যখন যজ্ঞবেদির কাছে নিজের নৈবেদ্য উৎসর্গ করছ, তখন সেই জায়গায় যদি মনে পড়ে যে, তোমার বিরুদ্ধে তোমার ভাইয়ের কোন কথা আছে,
24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
২৪তবে সেই জায়গায় বেদির সামনে তোমার নৈবেদ্য রাখ, আর চলে যাও, প্রথমে তোমার ভাইয়ের সাথে আবার মিলন হও, পরে এসে তোমার নৈবেদ্য উৎসর্গ কর।
25 Agree with your adversary quickly while you are with him on the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.
২৫তুমি যখন বিপক্ষের সঙ্গে পথে থাক, তখন তার সাথে তাড়াতাড়ি মিল কর, যদি বিপক্ষ তোমাকে বিচারকের হাতে তুলে দেয় ও বিচারক তোমাকে রক্ষীর হাতে তুলে দেয়, আর তুমি কারাগারে বন্দী হও।
26 Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there until you have paid the last penny.
২৬আমি তোমাকে সত্য বলছি, যতক্ষণ না পর্যন্ত শেষ পয়সাটা শোধ করবে, ততক্ষণ তুমি কোন মতে সেখান থেকে বাইরে আসতে পারবে না।
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery;’
২৭তোমরা শুনেছ যে এটা বলা হয়েছিল, “তুমি ব্যভিচার করও না।”
28 but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
২৮কিন্তু আমি তোমাদের বলছি, যে কেউ কোনো স্ত্রীলোকের দিকে লালসাপূর্ণ ভাবে দেখে, তখনই সে হৃদয়ে তার সাথে ব্যভিচার করল।
29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
২৯আর তোমার ডান চোখ যদি তোমায় পাপ করায়, তবে তা উপড়ে দূরে ফেলে দাও; কারণ তোমার সমস্ত শরীর নরকে যাওয়া চেয়ে বরং এক অঙ্গ নষ্ট হওয়া তোমার পক্ষে ভাল। (Geenna g1067)

৩০আর তোমার ডান হাত যদি তোমাকে পাপ করায়, তবে তা কেটে দূরে ফেলে দাও; কারণ তোমার সমস্ত শরীর নরকে যাওয়ার চেয়ে বরং এক অঙ্গ নষ্ট হওয়া তোমার পক্ষে ভাল। (Geenna g1067)
31 “It was also said, ‘Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,’
৩১আর বলা হয়েছিল, “যে কেউ নিজের স্ত্রীকে পরিত্যাগ করে, সে তাকে ত্যাগপত্র দিক।”
32 but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.
৩২কিন্তু আমি তোমাদের বলছি, যে কেউ ব্যভিচার ছাড়া অন্য কারণে নিজের স্ত্রীকে পরিত্যাগ করে, সে তাকে ব্যাভিচারিনী করে; এবং যে ব্যক্তি সেই পরিত্যক্তা স্ত্রীকে বিবাহ করে, সে ব্যভিচার করে।
33 “Again you have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,’
৩৩আবার তোমরা শুনেছ, আগের কালের লোকদের কাছে বলা হয়েছিল, তুমি মিথ্যা দিব্যি কর না, কিন্তু প্রভুর উদ্দেশ্যে তোমার সমস্ত প্রতিজ্ঞা পালন কর।
34 but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
৩৪কিন্তু আমি তোমাদের বলছি, কোন দিব্যি করো না; স্বর্গের দিব্যি কর না, কারণ তা ঈশ্বরের সিংহাসন এবং পৃথিবীর দিব্যি কর না, কারণ তা তাঁর পা রাখার জায়গা;
35 nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
৩৫আর যিরুশালেমের দিব্যি কর না, কারণ তা মহান রাজার শহর।
36 Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.
৩৬আর তোমার মাথার দিব্যি কর না, কারণ একগাছা চুল সাদা কি কালো করবার সাধ্য তোমার নেই।
37 But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
৩৭কিন্তু তোমাদের কথা হ্যাঁ, হ্যাঁ, না, না, হোক; এর বেশি যা, তা শয়তান থেকে জন্মায়।
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’
৩৮তোমরা শুনেছ বলা হয়েছিল, “চোখের বদলে চোখ ও দাঁতের বদলে দাঁত।”
39 But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
৩৯কিন্তু আমি তোমাদের বলছি, তোমরা মন্দ লোককে বাধা দিয়ো না; বরং যে কেউ তোমার ডান গালে চড় মারে, অন্য গাল তার দিকে ফিরিয়ে দাও।
40 If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.
৪০আর যে তোমার সাথে বিচারের জায়গায় ঝগড়া করে তোমার পোষাক নিতে চায়, তাকে তোমার চাদরও দিয়ে দাও।
41 Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
৪১আর যে কেউ এক মাইল যেতে তোমাকে জোর করে, তার সঙ্গে দুই মাইল যাও।
42 Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
৪২যে তোমার কাছে কিছু চায়, তাকে সেটা দাও এবং যে তোমার কাছে ধার চায়, তা থেকে বিমুখ হয়ো না।
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
৪৩তোমরা শুনেছ, বলা হয়েছিল, “তোমার প্রতিবেশীকে প্রেম করবে এবং তোমার শত্রুকে ঘৃণা করবে।”
44 But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
৪৪কিন্তু আমি তোমাদের বলছি, তোমরা নিজের নিজের শত্রুদেরকে ভালবেস এবং যারা তোমাদের ঘৃণা করে, তাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা কর;
45 that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
৪৫যেন তোমরা তোমাদের স্বর্গস্থ পিতার সন্তান হও, কারণ তিনি ভাল মন্দ লোকদের উপরে নিজের সূর্য্য উদয় করেন এবং ধার্মিক অধার্মিকদের উপরে বৃষ্টি দেন।
46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
৪৬কারণ যারা তোমাদের ভালবাসে, যদি শুধু তাদেরই ভালবাসো তবে তোমাদের কি পুরষ্কার হবে? কর আদায়কারীরাও কি সেই মত করে না?
47 If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
৪৭আর তোমরা যদি কেবল নিজের নিজের ভাইদেরকে শুভেচ্ছা জানাও, তবে বেশি কি কাজ কর? অইহূদিরাও কি সেইভাবে করে না?
48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
৪৮অতএব তোমাদের স্বর্গীয় পিতা যেমন সিদ্ধ, তোমরাও তেমনি সিদ্ধ হও।
