Matthew 4
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
Alors Jésus fut emmené par l'Esprit dans le désert, pour être tenté par le Diable.
2 When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward.
Il jeûna quarante jours et quarante nuits; et après cela, il eut faim.
3 The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
Le tentateur, s'approchant, lui dit: Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, ordonne que ces pierres deviennent des pains.
4 But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of God’s mouth.’”
Jésus répondit: Il est écrit: «L'homme ne vivra pas seulement de pain, mais de toute parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu»
5 Then the devil took him into the holy city. He set him on the pinnacle of the temple,
Alors le Diable le transporta dans la ville sainte; il le mit sur le faîte du temple,
6 and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and, ‘On their hands they will bear you up, so that you don’t dash your foot against a stone.’”
et il lui dit: Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, jette-toi en bas; car il est écrit: «Il ordonnera à ses anges de veiller sur toi, et ils te porteront dans leurs mains, de peur que ton pied ne heurte contre quelque pierre.»
7 Jesus said to him, “Again, it is written, ‘You shall not test the Lord, your God.’”
Jésus lui dit: Il est aussi écrit: «Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur, ton Dieu.»
8 Again, the devil took him to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
Le Diable le transporta encore sur une montagne très haute; il lui montra tous les royaumes du monde et leur gloire,
9 He said to him, “I will give you all of these things, if you will fall down and worship me.”
et il lui dit: Je te donnerai toutes ces choses, si, te prosternant devant moi, tu m'adores.
10 Then Jesus said to him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”
Alors Jésus lui dit: Retire-toi, Satan! Car il est écrit: «Tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, et tu ne rendras de culte qu'à lui seul.».
11 Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and served him.
Alors le Diable le laissa; et voici que des anges s'approchèrent, et ils se mirent à le servir.
12 Now when Jesus heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee.
Or, Jésus, ayant appris que Jean avait été mis en prison, se retira dans la Galilée.
13 Leaving Nazareth, he came and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,
Il quitta Nazareth et vint demeurer à Capernaüm, ville proche de la mer, sur les confins de Zabulon et de Nephthali.
14 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
Ainsi fut accompli ce qui avait été dit par Ésaïe, le prophète:
15 “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
«La terre de Zabulon et de Nephthali, sur le chemin de la mer, — le pays au delà du Jourdain, la Galilée des Païens.
16 the people who sat in darkness saw a great light; to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, to them light has dawned.”
— ce peuple, assis dans les ténèbres, a vu resplendir une grande lumière; et sur ceux qui étaient assis dans la région et dans l'ombre de la mort, une lumière s'est levée!»
17 From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say, “Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”
Dès lors, Jésus commença à prêcher et à dire: Repentez-vous; car le royaume des cieux est proche.
18 Walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
Comme il marchait le long de la mer de Galilée, il vit deux frères, Simon appelé Pierre, et André, son frère, qui jetaient le filet dans la mer; car ils étaient pêcheurs.
19 He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men.”
Et il leur dit: Suivez-moi, et je vous ferai pêcheurs d'hommes.
20 They immediately left their nets and followed him.
Aussitôt, laissant leurs filets, ils le suivirent.
21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them.
De là, il s'avança plus loin et vit deux autres frères, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean, son frère, qui raccommodaient leurs filets dans leurs barques, avec Zébédée, leur père; et il les appela.
22 They immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.
Aussitôt, laissant la barque et leur père, ils le suivirent.
23 Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
Jésus allait par toute la Galilée, enseignant dans les synagogues, prêchant l'Evangile du royaume, et guérissant toutes sortes de maladies et d'infirmités parmi le peuple.
24 The report about him went out into all Syria. They brought to him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and torments, possessed with demons, epileptics, and paralytics; and he healed them.
Sa renommée se répandit par toute la Syrie. On vint lui présenter tous ceux qui étaient malades ou tourmentés par les douleurs et les souffrances les plus diverses, des démoniaques, des lunatiques, des paralytiques; et il les guérit.
25 Great multitudes from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan followed him.
Et de grandes foules le suivirent de la Galilée, de la Décapole, de Jérusalem, de la Judée, et du pays au-delà du Jourdain.
