< Matthew 23 >

1 Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples,
Pamenepo Yesu anati kwa magulu a anthu ndi ophunzira ake:
2 saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat.
“Aphunzitsi amalamulo ndi Afarisi amakhala pa mpando wa Mose.
3 All things therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do, but don’t do their works; for they say, and don’t do.
Choncho muziwamvera ndi kuchita chilichonse chimene akuwuzani. Koma musachite zimene amachita, popeza sachita zimene amaphunzitsa.
4 For they bind heavy burdens that are grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not lift a finger to help them.
Amamanga akatundu olemera nawayika pa mapewa a anthu, koma iwo eni safuna kuwanyamula.
5 But they do all their works to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the fringes of their garments,
“Ntchito zawo amachita ndi cholinga chakuti anthu awaone. Amadzimangirira timaphukusi tikulutikulu ta Mawu a Mulungu pa mphumi ndi pa mkono komanso amatalikitsa mphonje za mikanjo yawo.
6 and love the place of honor at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues,
Amakonda malo aulemu pa maphwando ndi malo ofunika kwambiri mʼmasunagoge.
7 the salutations in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi, Rabbi’ by men.
Amakondwera ndi kupatsidwa moni mʼmisika ndi kutchulidwa kuti ‘Aphunzitsi.’
8 But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi’, for one is your teacher, the Christ, and all of you are brothers.
“Koma inu simuyenera kutchulidwa ‘Aphunzitsi,’ popeza muli naye Mbuye mmodzi ndipo inu nonse ndinu abale.
9 Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven.
Ndipo musamatchule wina aliyense pansi pano kuti ‘Atate,’ pakuti muli ndi Atate mmodzi, ndipo ali kumwamba.
10 Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ.
Komanso musamatchedwenso ‘Mtsogoleri,’ pakuti muli naye Mtsogoleri mmodzi amene ndi Khristu.
11 But he who is greatest among you will be your servant.
Wamkulu pakati panu adzakhala wokutumikirani.
12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
Pakuti aliyense amene adzikuza adzachepetsedwa, ndipo aliyense amene adzichepetsa adzakuzidwa.
13 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and as a pretense you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.
“Tsoka kwa inu aphunzitsi amalamulo ndi Afarisi achiphamaso! Mumatseka pa khomo la kumwamba kuti anthu asalowemo. Eni akenu simulowamo komanso simulola kuti ena amene akufuna kulowa kuti alowe.
14 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men; for you don’t enter in yourselves, neither do you allow those who are entering in to enter.
Muli ndi tsoka, inu aphunzitsi amalamulo ndi Afarisi, anthu achiphamaso! Mumawadyera akazi amasiye chuma chawo, kwinaku nʼkumanamizira kunena mapemphero ataliatali. Chifukwa cha zimenezi Mulungu adzakulangani koposa.
15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel around by sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of Gehenna as yourselves. (Geenna g1067)
“Tsoka kwa inu, aphunzitsi amalamulo ndi Afarisi, achiphamaso! Mumayenda maulendo ambiri pa mtunda ndi pa nyanja kuti mutembenuze munthu mmodzi, ndipo akatembenuka, mumamusandutsa kukhala mwana wa gehena kawiri kuposa inu. (Geenna g1067)
16 “Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’
“Tsoka kwa inu, atsogoleri akhungu! Mumati, ‘Ngati wina alumbira kutchula Nyumba ya Mulungu, zilibe kanthu; koma ngati wina alumbira kutchula ndalama zagolide za mʼNyumbayo, wotere ayenera kusunga lumbiro lake.’
17 You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?
Inu akhungu opusa! Chopambana nʼchiyani: ndalama zagolide, kapena Nyumba imene imayeretsa golideyo?
18 And, ‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obligated.’
Ndiponso mumati, ‘Ngati wina alumbira kutchula guwa lansembe, sizitanthauza kanthu; koma ngati wina alumbira kutchula mphatso ya paguwa lansembe, wotere ayenera kusunga lumbiro lake.’
19 You blind fools! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?
Inu anthu akhungu! Chopambana nʼchiyani: mphatso, kapena guwa limene limayeretsa mphatsoyo?
20 He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it and by everything on it.
Chifukwa chake, iye amene alumbira kutchula guwa alumbira pa ilo ndi pa chilichonse chili pamenepo.
21 He who swears by the temple, swears by it and by him who has been living in it.
Ndipo iye wolumbira potchula Nyumba ya Mulungu alumbira pa Nyumbayo ndi pa Iye amene amakhala mʼmenemo.
22 He who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by him who sits on it.
Ndipo iye wolumbira kutchula kumwamba alumbira kutchula mpando waufumu wa Mulungu ndi pa Iye wokhalapo.
23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith. But you ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.
“Tsoka kwa inu, aphunzitsi amalamulo ndi Afarisi, achiphamaso! Mumapereka chakhumi cha timbewu tonunkhira ndi cha timbewu tokometsera chakudya. Koma mwasiya zofunikira kwambiri za mʼmalamulo monga chilungamo, chifundo ndi kukhulupirika. Muyenera kuchita zomalizirazi komanso osasiya zoyambazo.
24 You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel!
Atsogoleri akhungu inu! Mumachotsa kantchentche mu chakumwa chanu koma mumameza ngamira.
25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness.
“Tsoka kwa inu, aphunzitsi amalamulo ndi Afarisi achiphamaso! Mumayeretsa kunja kwa chikho ndi mbale, koma mʼkatimo mwadzaza ndi dyera ndi kusadziretsa.
26 You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the platter, that its outside may become clean also.
Afarisi akhungu! Poyamba tsukani mʼkati mwa chikho ndi mbale, ndipo kunja kwake kudzakhalanso koyera.
27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones and of all uncleanness.
“Tsoka kwa inu, aphunzitsi amalamulo ndi Afarisi, achiphamaso! Muli ngati ziliza pa manda zowala kunja zimene zimaoneka zokongola koma mʼkatimo mwadzaza mafupa a anthu akufa ndi zonyansa zina zonse.
28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Chimodzimodzinso, kunja mumaoneka kwa anthu kuti ndinu olungama koma mʼkatimo ndinu odzaza ndi chinyengo ndi zoyipa zina.
29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the tombs of the righteous,
“Tsoka kwa inu, aphunzitsi amalamulo ndi Afarisi, achiphamaso! Mumamanga ziliza za aneneri ndi kukongoletsa manda a olungama.
30 and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn’t have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’
Ndipo mumati, ‘Ngati tikanakhala mʼmasiku a makolo athu sitikanakhetsa nawo magazi a aneneri.’
31 Therefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets.
Potero mukutsimikiza kuti muli ana a iwo amene anapha aneneri.
32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.
Dzazani inu muyeso wa uchimo wa makolo anu!
33 You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the judgment of Gehenna? (Geenna g1067)
“Njoka inu! Ana amamba! Mudzachithawa bwanji chilango cha gehena? (Geenna g1067)
34 Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city,
Choncho ndi kutumizirani aneneri ndi anthu anzeru ndi aphunzitsi. Ena a iwo mudzawapha ndi kuwapachika; ena mudzawakwapula mʼmasunagoge anu ndi kuwafunafuna kuchokera mudzi wina kufikira wina.
35 that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom you killed between the sanctuary and the altar.
Ndipo magazi onse a olungama amene anakhetsedwa pansi pano, kuyambira magazi a Abele, olungama kufikira Zakariya mwana wa Barakiya, amene munamupha pakati pa Nyumba ya Mulungu ndi guwa lansembe, adzakhala pa inu.
36 Most certainly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.
Zoonadi, ndikuwuzani kuti zonsezi zidzafika pa mʼbado uno.
37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!
“Haa! Yerusalemu, Yerusalemu, iwe amene umapha aneneri ndi kugenda miyala amene atumidwa kwa iwe, kawirikawiri ndimafuna kusonkhanitsa ana ako, monga nkhuku imasonkhanitsira ana ake pansi pa mapiko ake, koma iwe sunafune.
38 Behold, your house is left to you desolate.
Taona, nyumba yako yasiyidwa ya bwinja.
39 For I tell you, you will not see me from now on, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
Chifukwa chake ndikuwuza kuti simudzandionanso kufikira pamene mudzati, ‘Wodala Iye amene akudza mʼdzina la Ambuye.’”
