Matthew 21
1 When they came near to Jerusalem and came to Bethsphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
Lorsqu’ils approchèrent de Jérusalem et qu’ils furent venus à Bethphagé, près du mont des Oliviers, Jésus envoya deux disciples,
2 saying to them, “Go into the village that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me.
Leur disant: Allez au village qui est devant vous, et soudain vous trouverez une ânesse attachée, et son ânon avec elle; déliez-les et amenez-les-moi.
3 If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and immediately he will send them.”
Et si quelqu’un vous dit quelque chose, répondez que le Seigneur en a besoin; et aussitôt il les laissera emmener.
4 All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,
Or tout cela fut fait, afin que s’accomplit la parole du prophète, disant:
5 “Tell the daughter of Zion, behold, your King comes to you, humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
Dites à la fille de Sion: Voici que votre Roi vient à vous plein de douceur, monté sur une ânesse et sur l’ânon de celle qui est sous le joug.
6 The disciples went and did just as Jesus commanded them,
S’en allant donc, les disciples firent comme Jésus leur avait commandé;
7 and brought the donkey and the colt and laid their clothes on them; and he sat on them.
Ils amenèrent l’ânesse et l’ânon, mirent dessus leurs vêtements et l’y firent asseoir.
8 A very great multitude spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
La plus grande partie du peuple étendit ses vêtements le long de la route, d’autres coupaient des branches d’arbres et en jonchaient le chemin.
9 The multitudes who went in front of him, and those who followed, kept shouting, “Hosanna to the son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
Or la foule qui précédait et celle qui suivait criaient, disant: Hosanna au fils de David: béni celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur! Hosanna au plus haut des cieux!
10 When he had come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”
Lorsqu’il fut entré dans Jérusalem, toute la ville fut émue, demandant: Qui est celui-ci?
11 The multitudes said, “This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”
Et la multitude répondait: C’est Jésus, le Prophète de Nazareth en Galilée.
12 Jesus entered into the temple of God and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers’ tables and the seats of those who sold the doves.
Et Jésus entra dans le temple de Dieu, et chassa tous ceux qui vendaient et achetaient dans le temple; il renversa même les tables des changeurs et les sièges de ceux qui vendaient des colombes;
13 He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers!”
Et il leur dit: Il est écrit: Ma maison sera appelée maison de prière; mais vous en avez fait une caverne de voleurs.
14 The lame and the blind came to him in the temple, and he healed them.
Et des aveugles et des boiteux s’approchèrent de lui dans le temple, et il les guérit.
15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children who were crying in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the son of David!” they were indignant,
Mais les princes des prêtres et les scribes, voyant les merveilles qu’il faisait et les enfants qui criaient dans le temple et disaient: Hosanna au fils de David, s’indignèrent,
16 and said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes. Did you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of children and nursing babies, you have perfected praise’?”
Et lui dirent: Entendez-vous ce que disent ceux-ci? Jésus leur répondit: Oui. N’avez-vous jamais lu: C’est de la bouche des enfants et de ceux qui sont à la mamelle, que vous avez tiré la louange la plus parfaite?
17 He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and camped there.
Et, les ayant quittés, il s’en alla hors de la ville à Béthanie et s’y arrêta.
18 Now in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry.
Le lendemain matin, comme il revenait à la ville, il eut faim.
19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it, “Let there be no fruit from you forever!” Immediately the fig tree withered away. (aiōn g165)
Or apercevant un figuier près du chemin, il s’en approcha; et n’y trouvant rien que des feuilles, il lui dit: Que jamais fruit ne naisse de toi désormais. Et à l’instant le figuier sécha. (aiōn g165)
20 When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree immediately wither away?”
Ce qu’ayant vu, les disciples s’étonnèrent, disant: Comment a-t-il séché sur-le-champ?
21 Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you told this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it would be done.
Alors, Jésus prenant la parole, leur dit: En vérité, je vous dis: Si vous avez de la foi et que vous n’hésitiez point, non seulement vous ferez comme j’ai fait au figuier, mais même, si vous dites à cette montagne: Lève-toi et te jette dans la mer, cela se fera.
22 All things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
Et tout ce que vous demanderez dans la prière avec foi, vous l’obtiendrez.
23 When he had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, “By what authority do you do these things? Who gave you this authority?”
Or, comme il vint dans le temple, les princes des prêtres et les anciens du peuple s’approchèrent de lui, tandis qu’il enseignait, et dirent: Par quelle autorité faites-vous ces choses? Et qui vous a donné ce pouvoir?
24 Jesus answered them, “I also will ask you one question, which if you tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
Jésus répondant, leur dit: Je vous ferai, moi aussi, une demande; si vous y répondez, je vous dirai par quelle autorité je fais ces choses.
25 The baptism of John, where was it from? From heaven or from men?” They reasoned with themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’
Le baptême de Jean, d’où était-il? du ciel ou des hommes? Mais eux pensaient en eux-mêmes, disant:
26 But if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the multitude, for all hold John as a prophet.”
Si nous répondons: Du ciel, il nous dira: Pourquoi donc n’y avez-vous pas cru! Et si nous répondons: Des hommes, nous avons à craindre le peuple; tous, en effet, tenaient Jean pour prophète.
27 They answered Jesus, and said, “We don’t know.” He also said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
Ainsi, répondant à Jésus, ils dirent: Nous ne savons. Et Jésus aussi leur répondit: Ni moi non plus je ne vous dirai par quelle autorité je fais ces choses.
28 But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, ‘Son, go work today in my vineyard.’
Mais que vous en semble? Un homme avait deux fils; s’approchant du premier, il lui dit: Mon fils, va-t’en aujourd’hui travailler à ma vigne.
29 He answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind, and went.
Celui-ci répondant, dit: Je ne veux pas. Mais après, touché de repentir, il y alla.
30 He came to the second, and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I’m going, sir,’ but he didn’t go.
S’approchant ensuite de l’autre, il dit de même. Et celui-ci répondant dit: J’y vais. Seigneur, et il n’y alla point.
31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to him, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Most certainly I tell you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into God’s Kingdom before you.
Lequel des deux a fait la volonté du père? Ils lui dirent: Le premier. Jésus leur répliqua: En vérité je vous dis que les publicains et les femmes de mauvaise vie vous précéderont dans le royaume de Dieu.
32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn’t believe him; but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you didn’t even repent afterward, that you might believe him.
Car Jean est venu à vous dans la voie de la justice et vous n’avez pas cru en lui; mais les publicains et les femmes de mauvaise vie ont cru en lui; et vous, ayant vu cela, vous n’avez pas même eu de repentir ensuite, de manière à croire en lui.
33 “Hear another parable. There was a man who was a master of a household who planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a wine press in it, built a tower, leased it out to farmers, and went into another country.
Ecoutez une autre parabole: Il y avait un homme, père de famille, qui planta une vigne et l’entoura d’une haie, y creusa un pressoir, et bâtit une tour; il la loua ensuite à des vignerons, et partit pour un voyage.
34 When the season for the fruit came near, he sent his servants to the farmers to receive his fruit.
Or, lorsque le temps des fruits approcha, il envoya ses serviteurs aux vignerons, pour en recevoir les fruits.
35 The farmers took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.
Mais les vignerons s’étant saisis de ses serviteurs déchirèrent l’un de coups, tuèrent l’autre et en lapidèrent un autre.
36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first; and they treated them the same way.
Il envoya encore d’autres serviteurs en plus grand nombre que les premiers, et ils leur firent pareillement.
37 But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’
En dernier lieu il leur envoya son fils, disant: Ils auront du respect pour mon fils.
38 But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and seize his inheritance.’
Mais les vignerons voyant le fils dirent en eux-mêmes: Celui-ci est l’héritier; venez, tuons-le, et nous aurons son héritage.
39 So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard, then killed him.
Et après l’avoir pris, ils le jetèrent hors de la vigne, et le tuèrent.
40 When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those farmers?”
Lors donc que viendra le maître de la vigne, que fera-t-il à ces vignerons?
41 They told him, “He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will lease out the vineyard to other farmers who will give him the fruit in its season.”
Ils lui répondirent: Il fera mourir misérablement ces misérables, et il louera sa vigne à d’autres vignerons qui lui en rendront le fruit en son temps.
42 Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes’?
Jésus leur demanda: N’avez-vous jamais lu dans les Ecritures: La pierre rejetée par ceux qui bâtissaient, est devenue un sommet d’angle. Ceci est l’œuvre du Seigneur et elle est admirable à nos yeux?
43 “Therefore I tell you, God’s Kingdom will be taken away from you and will be given to a nation producing its fruit.
C’est pourquoi je vous dis que le royaume de Dieu vous sera ôté, et qu’il sera donné à un peuple qui en produira les fruits.
44 He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whomever it will fall, it will scatter him as dust.”
Celui qui tombera sur cette pierre, se brisera; et celui sur qui elle tombera, elle l’écrasera.
45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke about them.
Or, lorsque les princes des prêtres et les pharisiens eurent entendu ses paraboles, ils comprirent que c’était d’eux qu’il parlait.
46 When they sought to seize him, they feared the multitudes, because they considered him to be a prophet.
Et cherchant à se saisir de lui, ils craignirent le peuple, parce qu’il le regardait comme un prophète.
