Matthew 14
1 At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,
ததா³நீம்’ ராஜா ஹேரோத்³ யீஸோ² ர்யஸ²: ஸ்²ருத்வா நிஜதா³ஸேயாந் ஜகா³த்³,
2 and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.”
ஏஷ மஜ்ஜயிதா யோஹந், ப்ரமிதேப⁴யஸ்தஸ்யோத்தா²நாத் தேநேத்த²மத்³பு⁴தம்’ கர்ம்ம ப்ரகாஸ்²யதே|
3 For Herod had arrested John, bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.
புரா ஹேரோத்³ நிஜப்⁴ராது: பி²லிபோ ஜாயாயா ஹேரோதீ³யாயா அநுரோதா⁴த்³ யோஹநம்’ தா⁴ரயித்வா ப³த்³தா⁴ காராயாம்’ ஸ்தா²பிதவாந்|
4 For John said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”
யதோ யோஹந் உக்தவாந், ஏத்ஸயா: ஸம்’க்³ரஹோ ப⁴வதோ நோசித: |
5 When he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
தஸ்மாத் ந்ரு’பதிஸ்தம்’ ஹந்துமிச்ச²ந்நபி லோகேப்⁴யோ விப⁴யாஞ்சகார; யத: ஸர்வ்வே யோஹநம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நம்’ மேநிரே|
6 But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod.
கிந்து ஹேரோதோ³ ஜந்மாஹீயமஹ உபஸ்தி²தே ஹேரோதீ³யாயா து³ஹிதா தேஷாம்’ ஸமக்ஷம்’ ந்ரு’தித்வா ஹேரோத³மப்ரீண்யத்|
7 Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.
தஸ்மாத் பூ⁴பதி: ஸ²பத²ம்’ குர்வ்வந் இதி ப்ரத்யஜ்ஞாஸீத், த்வயா யத்³ யாச்யதே, ததே³வாஹம்’ தா³ஸ்யாமி|
8 She, being prompted by her mother, said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptizer.”
ஸா குமாரீ ஸ்வீயமாது: ஸி²க்ஷாம்’ லப்³தா⁴ ப³பா⁴ஷே, மஜ்ஜயிதுர்யோஹந உத்தமாங்க³ம்’ பா⁴ஜநே ஸமாநீய மஹ்யம்’ விஸ்²ராணய|
9 The king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,
ததோ ராஜா ஸு²ஸோ²ச, கிந்து போ⁴ஜநாயோபவிஸ²தாம்’ ஸங்கி³நாம்’ ஸ்வக்ரு’தஸ²பத²ஸ்ய சாநுரோதா⁴த் தத் ப்ரதா³தும ஆதி³தே³ஸ²|
10 and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.
பஸ்²சாத் காராம்’ ப்ரதி நரம்’ ப்ரஹித்ய யோஹந உத்தமாங்க³ம்’ சி²த்த்வா
11 His head was brought on a platter and given to the young lady; and she brought it to her mother.
தத் பா⁴ஜந ஆநாய்ய தஸ்யை குமார்ய்யை வ்யஸ்²ராணயத், தத: ஸா ஸ்வஜநந்யா: ஸமீபம்’ தந்நிநாய|
12 His disciples came, took the body, and buried it. Then they went and told Jesus.
பஸ்²சாத் யோஹந: ஸி²ஷ்யா ஆக³த்ய காயம்’ நீத்வா ஸ்²மஸா²நே ஸ்தா²பயாமாஸுஸ்ததோ யீஸோ²: ஸந்நிதி⁴ம்’ வ்ரஜித்வா தத்³வார்த்தாம்’ ப³பா⁴ஷிரே|
13 Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place apart. When the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.
அநந்தரம்’ யீஸு²ரிதி நிஸ²ப்⁴ய நாவா நிர்ஜநஸ்தா²நம் ஏகாகீ க³தவாந், பஸ்²சாத் மாநவாஸ்தத் ஸ்²ருத்வா நாநாநக³ரேப்⁴ய ஆக³த்ய பதை³ஸ்தத்பஸ்²சாத்³ ஈயு: |
14 Jesus went out, and he saw a great multitude. He had compassion on them and healed their sick.
ததா³நீம்’ யீஸு² ர்ப³ஹிராக³த்ய மஹாந்தம்’ ஜநநிவஹம்’ நிரீக்ஷ்ய தேஷு காருணிக: மந் தேஷாம்’ பீடி³தஜநாந் நிராமயாந் சகார|
15 When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.”
தத: பரம்’ ஸந்த்⁴யாயாம்’ ஸி²ஷ்யாஸ்தத³ந்திகமாக³த்ய கத²யாஞ்சக்ரு: , இத³ம்’ நிர்ஜநஸ்தா²நம்’ வேலாப்யவஸந்நா; தஸ்மாத் மநுஜாந் ஸ்வஸ்வக்³ராமம்’ க³ந்தும்’ ஸ்வார்த²ம்’ ப⁴க்ஷ்யாணி க்ரேதுஞ்ச ப⁴வாந் தாந் விஸ்ரு’ஜது|
16 But Jesus said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
கிந்து யீஸு²ஸ்தாநவாதீ³த், தேஷாம்’ க³மநே ப்ரயோஜநம்’ நாஸ்தி, யூயமேவ தாந் போ⁴ஜயத|
17 They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.”
ததா³ தே ப்ரத்யவத³ந், அஸ்மாகமத்ர பூபபஞ்சகம்’ மீநத்³வயஞ்சாஸ்தே|
18 He said, “Bring them here to me.”
ததா³நீம்’ தேநோக்தம்’ தாநி மத³ந்திகமாநயத|
19 He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.
அநந்தரம்’ ஸ மநுஜாந் யவஸோபர்ய்யுபவேஷ்டும் ஆஜ்ஞாபயாமாஸ; அபர தத் பூபபஞ்சகம்’ மீநத்³வயஞ்ச க்³ரு’ஹ்லந் ஸ்வர்க³ம்’ ப்ரதி நிரீக்ஷ்யேஸ்²வரீயகு³ணாந் அநூத்³ய ப⁴ம்’க்த்வா ஸி²ஷ்யேப்⁴யோ த³த்தவாந், ஸி²ஷ்யாஸ்²ச லோகேப்⁴யோ த³து³: |
20 They all ate and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.
தத: ஸர்வ்வே பு⁴க்த்வா பரித்ரு’ப்தவந்த: , ததஸ்தத³வஸி²ஷ்டப⁴க்ஷ்யை: பூர்ணாந் த்³வாத³ஸ²ட³லகாந் க்³ரு’ஹீதவந்த: |
21 Those who ate were about five thousand men, in addition to women and children.
தே போ⁴க்தார: ஸ்த்ரீர்பா³லகாம்’ஸ்²ச விஹாய ப்ராயேண பஞ்ச ஸஹஸ்ராணி புமாம்’ஸ ஆஸந்|
22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
தத³நந்தரம்’ யீஸு² ர்லோகாநாம்’ விஸர்ஜநகாலே ஸி²ஷ்யாந் தரணிமாரோடு⁴ம்’ ஸ்வாக்³ரே பாரம்’ யாதுஞ்ச கா³ட⁴மாதி³ஷ்டவாந்|
23 After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.
ததோ லோகேஷு விஸ்ரு’ஷ்டேஷு ஸ விவிக்தே ப்ரார்த²யிதும்’ கி³ரிமேகம்’ க³த்வா ஸந்த்⁴யாம்’ யாவத் தத்ரைகாகீ ஸ்தி²தவாந்|
24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
கிந்து ததா³நீம்’ ஸம்முக²வாதத்வாத் ஸரித்பதே ர்மத்⁴யே தரங்கை³ஸ்தரணிர்தோ³லாயமாநாப⁴வத்|
25 In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea.
ததா³ ஸ யாமிந்யாஸ்²சதுர்த²ப்ரஹரே பத்³ப்⁴யாம்’ வ்ரஜந் தேஷாமந்திகம்’ க³தவாந்|
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear.
கிந்து ஸி²ஷ்யாஸ்தம்’ ஸாக³ரோபரி வ்ரஜந்தம்’ விலோக்ய ஸமுத்³விக்³நா ஜக³து³: , ஏஷ பூ⁴த இதி ஸ²ங்கமாநா உச்சை: ஸ²ப்³தா³யாஞ்சக்ரிரே ச|
27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.”
ததை³வ யீஸு²ஸ்தாநவத³த், ஸுஸ்தி²ரா ப⁴வத, மா பை⁴ஷ்ட, ஏஷோ(அ)ஹம்|
28 Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”
தத: பிதர இத்யுக்தவாந், ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴, யதி³ ப⁴வாநேவ, தர்ஹி மாம்’ ப⁴வத்ஸமீபம்’ யாதுமாஜ்ஞாபயது|
29 He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.
தத: தேநாதி³ஷ்ட: பிதரஸ்தரணிதோ(அ)வருஹ்ய யீஸே²ரந்திகம்’ ப்ராப்தும்’ தோயோபரி வவ்ராஜ|
30 But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
கிந்து ப்ரசண்ட³ம்’ பவநம்’ விலோக்ய ப⁴யாத் தோயே மம்’க்தும் ஆரேபே⁴, தஸ்மாத்³ உச்சை: ஸ²ப்³தா³யமாந: கதி²தவாந், ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴, மாமவது|
31 Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
யீஸு²ஸ்தத்க்ஷணாத் கரம்’ ப்ரஸார்ய்ய தம்’ த⁴ரந் உக்தவாந், ஹ ஸ்தோகப்ரத்யயிந் த்வம்’ குத: ஸமஸே²தா²: ?
32 When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.
அநந்தரம்’ தயோஸ்தரணிமாரூட⁴யோ: பவநோ நிவவ்ரு’தே|
33 Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”
ததா³நீம்’ யே தரண்யாமாஸந், த ஆக³த்ய தம்’ ப்ரணப்⁴ய கதி²தவந்த: , யதா²ர்த²ஸ்த்வமேவேஸ்²வரஸுத: |
34 When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.
அநந்தரம்’ பாரம்’ ப்ராப்ய தே கி³நேஷரந்நாமகம்’ நக³ரமுபதஸ்து²: ,
35 When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region and brought to him all who were sick;
ததா³ தத்ரத்யா ஜநா யீஸு²ம்’ பரிசீய தத்³தே³ஸ்²ஸ்ய சதுர்தி³ஸோ² வார்த்தாம்’ ப்ரஹித்ய யத்ர யாவந்த: பீடி³தா ஆஸந், தாவதஏவ தத³ந்திகமாநயாமாஸு: |
36 and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.
அபரம்’ ததீ³யவஸநஸ்ய க்³ரந்தி²மாத்ரம்’ ஸ்ப்ரஷ்டும்’ விநீய யாவந்தோ ஜநாஸ்தத் ஸ்பர்ஸ²ம்’ சக்ரிரே, தே ஸர்வ்வஏவ நிராமயா ப³பூ⁴வு: |
