Leviticus 16
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they came near before Yahweh, and died;
Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse après la mort des deux fils d'Aaron qui moururent pour s'être présentés devant l'Éternel,
2 and Yahweh said to Moses, “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Most Holy Place within the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark; lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat.
et l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Avertis ton frère Aaron qu'il ne doit pas pénétrer en tout temps dans le Sanctuaire derrière le rideau devant le Propitiatoire qui couvre l'Arche, de peur qu'il ne meure; car j'apparais dans une nuée au-dessus du Propitiatoire.
3 “Aaron shall come into the sanctuary with a young bull for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.
Voici avec quoi Aaron entrera dans le Sanctuaire: avec un jeune taureau pour l'expiation et un bélier pour l'holocauste.
4 He shall put on the holy linen tunic. He shall have the linen trousers on his body, and shall put on the linen sash, and he shall be clothed with the linen turban. They are the holy garments. He shall bathe his body in water, and put them on.
Il s'habillera d'une tunique sacrée de lin, et portera sur sa chair des caleçons de lin, et il se ceindra d'une ceinture de lin, et s'enveloppera la tête d'un turban de lin: ce sont les vêtements sacrés, qu'il mettra après avoir baigné son corps dans l'eau.
5 He shall take from the congregation of the children of Israel two male goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
Et il se fera donner par l'Assemblée des enfants d'Israël deux boucs pour l'expiation et un bélier pour l'holocauste.
6 “Aaron shall offer the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house.
Et Aaron offrira son taureau expiatoire et fera la propitiation pour lui et pour sa maison.
7 He shall take the two goats, and set them before Yahweh at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
Puis il prendra les deux boucs et les présentera devant l'Éternel à l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous.
8 Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: one lot for Yahweh, and the other lot for the scapegoat.
Et il tirera au sort les deux boucs afin que le sort désigne l'un pour l'Éternel, l'autre pour Azazel.
9 Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for Yahweh, and offer him for a sin offering.
Et Aaron offrira le bouc destiné à l'Éternel, et le sacrifiera en expiation.
10 But the goat on which the lot fell for the scapegoat shall be presented alive before Yahweh, to make atonement for him, to send him away as the scapegoat into the wilderness.
Et le bouc destiné à Azazel sera présenté vivant devant l'Éternel afin de faire pour lui la propitiation, puis de le lâcher dans le désert pour Azazel.
11 “Aaron shall present the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house, and shall kill the bull of the sin offering which is for himself.
Et Aaron offrira son taureau expiatoire et fera la propitiation pour lui et pour sa maison, et il égorgera son taureau expiatoire.
12 He shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before Yahweh, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil.
Et il prendra la cassolette qu'il remplira de charbons ardents pris sur l'Autel en la présence de l'Éternel, et il remplira ses deux mains d'encens odorant concassé, et il portera ces choses derrière le rideau.
13 He shall put the incense on the fire before Yahweh, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the covenant, so that he will not die.
Et il jettera l'encens sur le feu devant l'Éternel pour que le nuage de l'encens enveloppe le Propitiatoire qui couvre le Témoignage, afin qu'il ne meure pas.
14 He shall take some of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east; and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.
Et prenant du sang du taureau il en aspergera avec son doigt le devant du Propitiatoire à l'Orient, et devant le Propitiatoire il fera avec son doigt sept aspersions de ce sang.
15 “Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat.
Et il égorgera le bouc expiatoire pour le peuple et en portera le sang derrière le rideau, et procédera avec ce sang comme il aura procédé avec le sang du taureau et fera des aspersions sur le Propitiatoire et devant le Propitiatoire:
16 He shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins; and so he shall do for the Tent of Meeting that dwells with them in the middle of their uncleanness.
ainsi il fera la propitiation pour le Sanctuaire à cause des impuretés des enfants d'Israël et de leurs désobéissances dans tous leurs péchés; il en fera de même pour la Tente du Rendez-vous fixée chez eux au milieu de leurs impuretés.
17 No one shall be in the Tent of Meeting when he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, and has made atonement for himself and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel.
Et qu'il n'y ait personne dans la Tente du Rendez-vous, lorsqu'il y entrera pour faire la propitiation du Sanctuaire, jusqu'à ce qu'il en sorte; et ainsi il fera la propitiation pour lui et pour sa maison et pour toute l'Assemblée d'Israël.
18 “He shall go out to the altar that is before Yahweh and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the bull’s blood, and some of the goat’s blood, and put it around on the horns of the altar.
Et en sortant il ira à l'Autel qui est devant l'Éternel et pour lequel il fera la propitiation en prenant du sang du taureau et du sang du bouc dont il mettra aux cornes de l'Autel tout autour;
19 He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and make it holy from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
il l'aspergera aussi sept fois de ce sang avec son doigt et le purifiera, pour le rendre saint, des impuretés des enfants d'Israël.
20 “When he has finished atoning for the Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat.
Et après avoir achevé de faire la propitiation pour le Sanctuaire et la Tente du Rendez-vous et l'Autel, il offrira le bouc vivant.
21 Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, even all their sins; and he shall put them on the head of the goat, and shall send him away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is ready.
Et Aaron posera ses deux mains sur la tête du bouc vivant, et il fera sur lui la confession de toutes les iniquités des enfants d'Israël et de toutes leurs désobéissances dans tous leurs péchés, et il en chargera la tête du bouc qu'il fera conduire au désert par un homme qui se trouvera là,
22 The goat shall carry all their iniquities on himself to a solitary land, and he shall release the goat in the wilderness.
pour que le bouc emporte sur soi toutes leurs iniquités dans une terre sauvage; c'est au désert qu'il le fera conduire.
23 “Aaron shall come into the Tent of Meeting, and shall take off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there.
Et Aaron entrera dans la Tente du Rendez-vous et ôtera les habits de lin qu'il aura mis en pénétrant dans le Sanctuaire, et les y laissera;
24 Then he shall bathe himself in water in a holy place, put on his garments, and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people.
et il baignera son corps dans l'eau en lieu saint, et ayant mis son costume, il sortira et sacrifiera son holocauste et l'holocauste du peuple, et fera la propitiation pour lui et pour le peuple.
25 The fat of the sin offering he shall burn on the altar.
Et il fera fumer sur l'Autel la graisse de la victime expiatoire.
26 “He who lets the goat go as the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
Et celui qui aura emmené le bouc pour Azazel, lavera ses vêtements et baignera son corps dans l'eau; après quoi il pourra rentrer au camp.
27 The bull for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be carried outside the camp; and they shall burn their skins, their flesh, and their dung with fire.
Et le taureau expiatoire et le bouc expiatoire dont le sang aura été introduit pour la propitiation du Sanctuaire, seront transportés hors du camp et l'on en brûlera au feu les peaux, la chair et la fiente.
28 He who burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
Et celui qui les aura brûlés, lavera ses vêtements et baignera son corps dans l'eau; après quoi il pourra rentrer au camp.
29 “It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no kind of work, whether native-born or a stranger who lives as a foreigner among you;
Ce sera pour vous une règle perpétuelle: le septième mois, le dixième jour du mois, vous vous humilierez, et vous ne vaquerez à aucune affaire, ni les indigènes, ni les étrangers séjournant parmi vous.
30 for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you. You shall be clean from all your sins before Yahweh.
Car ce jour-là propitiation sera faite pour vous afin de vous purifier: vous serez purifiés devant l'Éternel de tous vos péchés.
31 It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict your souls. It is a statute forever.
Ce sera pour vous un Sabbat solennel, et vous vous humilierez; c'est une règle perpétuelle.
32 The priest, who is anointed and who is consecrated to be priest in his father’s place, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments.
La propitiation sera faite par le Prêtre qui a reçu l'onction et qui a été installé dans le Sacerdoce comme successeur de son père, et il mettra des vêtements de lin, des vêtements sacrés,
33 Then he shall make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the Tent of Meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.
et il fera une propitiation pour le Saint Sanctuaire, et une propitiation pour la Tente du Rendez-vous et l'Autel, et une propitiation pour les Prêtres et tout le peuple de l'Assemblée.
34 “This shall be an everlasting statute for you, to make atonement for the children of Israel once in the year because of all their sins.” It was done as Yahweh commanded Moses.
Et ce sera pour vous une règle éternelle que propitiation soit faite pour les enfants d'Israël à cause de tous leurs péchés une fois l'an. Et il se conforma à l'ordre donné par l'Éternel à Moïse.
