Jonah 3
1 Yahweh’s word came to Jonah the second time, saying,
೧ಯೆಹೋವನ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ಯೋನನಿಗೆ ಎರಡನೆಯ ಸಾರಿ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು.
2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I give you.”
೨ಅದೇನೆಂದರೆ “ನೀನು ಹೊರಟು ಆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪಟ್ಟಣವಾದ ನಿನೆವೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುವ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಾರು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
3 So Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to Yahweh’s word. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, three days’ journey across.
೩ಆಗ ಯೋನನು ಎದ್ದು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಂತೆ ನಿನೆವೆಗೆ ಹೋದನು. ನಿನೆವೆಯು ಮೂರು ದಿನದ ಪ್ರಯಾಣದಷ್ಟು ಅತಿ ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾದ ಮಹಾದೊಡ್ಡ ಪಟ್ಟಣವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
4 Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried out, and said, “In forty days, Nineveh will be overthrown!”
೪ಯೋನನು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿ ಒಂದು ದಿನದಷ್ಟು ದೂರ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡಿದ ನಂತರ “ನಲವತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿನೆವೆಯು ಕೆಡವಲ್ಪಡುವುದು” ಎಂದು ಸಾರತೊಡಗಿದನು.
5 The people of Nineveh believed God; and they proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from their greatest even to their least.
೫ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ನಿನೆವೆಯವರು ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಟ್ಟು ಉಪವಾಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಸಾರಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು; ದೊಡ್ಡವರು ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ಚಿಕ್ಕವರ ತನಕ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಗೋಣಿತಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡರು.
6 The news reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, took off his royal robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
೬ಆ ಸುದ್ದಿಯು ನಿನೆವೆಯ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಲು ಅವನು ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು, ತನ್ನ ನಿಲುವಂಗಿಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಗೋಣಿತಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಬೂದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡನು.
7 He made a proclamation and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, “Let neither man nor animal, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water;
೭ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಜ್ಯಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ನಿನೆವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ: “ಜನ, ಪಶು, ಮಂದೆ, ಹಿಂಡು ಇವುಗಳು ಸಹ ಏನೂ ರುಚಿ ನೋಡುವುದಾಗಲೀ, ತಿನ್ನುವುದಾಗಲೀ, ಕುಡಿಯುವುದಾಗಲೀ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು.
8 but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and animal, and let them cry mightily to God. Yes, let them turn everyone from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands.
೮ಜನರಿಗೂ ಪಶುಗಳಿಗೂ ಗೋಣಿತಟ್ಟು ಹೊದಿಕೆಯಾಗಲಿ; ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಬಲವಾಗಿ ಮೊರೆಯಿಡಲಿ; ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬನು ತನ್ನ ತನ್ನ ದುರ್ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳನ್ನೂ, ತಾನು ನಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಹಿಂಸೆಯನ್ನೂ ತೊರೆದು ಬಿಡಲಿ.
9 Who knows whether God will not turn and relent, and turn away from his fierce anger, so that we might not perish?”
೯ದೇವರು ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಮನಮರುಗಿ, ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ಉಗ್ರಕೋಪವನ್ನು ತೊರೆದರೆ, ನಾವು ನಾಶವಾಗದೆ ಉಳಿದೇವು” ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ನಿನೆವೆಯಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸಾರಿಸಿದನು.
10 God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. God relented of the disaster which he said he would do to them, and he didn’t do it.
೧೦ದೇವರು ನಿನೆವೆಯವರ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ, ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ದುರ್ಮಾರ್ಗತನದಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡರೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ತನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ, ತಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವೆನೆಂದು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ್ದ ಕೇಡನ್ನು ಮಾಡದೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
