John 4
1 Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
൧യേശു യോഹന്നാനേക്കാൾ അധികം ആളുകളെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരാക്കി സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പരീശന്മാർ കേട്ട് എന്നു കർത്താവ് അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ
2 (although Jesus himself didn’t baptize, but his disciples),
൨ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അല്ലാതെ യേശു തന്നേ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നില്ലതാനും
3 he left Judea and departed into Galilee.
൩അവൻ യെഹൂദ്യദേശം വിട്ടു ഗലീലയ്ക്കു് യാത്രയായി.
4 He needed to pass through Samaria.
൪അവൻ ശമര്യയിൽ കൂടി കടന്നുപോകേണ്ടിവന്നു.
5 So he came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
൫അങ്ങനെ അവൻ സുഖാർ എന്നൊരു ശമര്യ പട്ടണത്തിൽ യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ പുത്രനായ യോസഫിന് കൊടുത്ത നിലത്തിനരികെ എത്തി.
6 Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
൬അവിടെ യാക്കോബിന്റെ കിണറുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. യേശു യാത്രചെയ്തു ക്ഷീണിച്ചിട്ട് ആ കിണറിനരികെ ഇരുന്നു; അപ്പോൾ ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണിനേരം ആയിരുന്നു.
7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.”
൭ഒരു ശമര്യസ്ത്രീ വെള്ളംകോരുവാൻ വന്നു; യേശു അവളോട്: എനിക്ക് കുടിക്കുവാൻ കുറച്ച് വെള്ളം തരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
8 For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
൮അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ ഭക്ഷണം വാങ്ങുവാൻ പട്ടണത്തിൽ പോയിരുന്നു.
9 The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, “How is it that you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
൯ശമര്യസ്ത്രീ അവനോട്: നീ യെഹൂദൻ ആയിരിക്കെ ശമര്യക്കാരത്തിയായ എന്നോട് കുടിക്കുവാൻ ചോദിക്കുന്നത് എങ്ങനെ? യെഹൂദന്മാർക്കും ശമര്യർക്കും തമ്മിൽ സമ്പർക്കമില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”
൧൦അതിന് യേശു: നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാനവും, നിന്നോട് കുടിക്കുവാൻ തരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞവൻ ആരെന്നും അറിഞ്ഞ് എങ്കിൽ നീ അവനോട് ചോദിക്കയും അവൻ ജീവനുള്ള വെള്ളം നിനക്ക് തരികയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
11 The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. So where do you get that living water?
൧൧സ്ത്രീ അവനോട്: യജമാനനേ, നിനക്ക് കോരുവാൻ പാത്രം ഇല്ലല്ലോ; കിണറ് ആഴമുള്ളതാകുന്നു; പിന്നെ ജീവനുള്ള വെള്ളം നിനക്ക് എവിടെ നിന്നു ലഭിക്കും?
12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his children and his livestock?”
൧൨നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ യാക്കോബിനേക്കാൾ നീ വലിയവനോ? അവൻ ആകുന്നു ഈ കിണറ് ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നതു; അവനും അവന്റെ മക്കളും മൃഗങ്ങളും ഇതിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചുപോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
13 Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again,
൧൩യേശു അവളോട്: ഈ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നവനെല്ലാം പിന്നെയും ദാഹിക്കും.
15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I don’t get thirsty, neither come all the way here to draw.”
൧൫സ്ത്രീ അവനോട്: യജമാനനേ, എനിക്ക് ദാഹിക്കാതെയും ഞാൻ വെള്ളംകോരുവാൻ ഇവിടേക്ക് വരാതെയുമിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ആ വെള്ളം എനിക്ക് തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
൧൬യേശു അവളോട്: പോയി നിന്റെ ഭർത്താവിനെ വിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
17 The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You said well, ‘I have no husband,’
൧൭എനിക്ക് ഭർത്താവ് ഇല്ല എന്നു സ്ത്രീ അവനോട് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതിന്: എനിക്ക് ഭർത്താവ് ഇല്ല എന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞത് ശരി.
18 for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.”
൧൮അഞ്ച് ഭർത്താക്കന്മാർ നിനക്ക് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ ഉള്ളവനോ നിന്റെ ഭർത്താവല്ല; നീ പറഞ്ഞത് ശരി തന്നേ എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞു.
19 The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
൧൯സ്ത്രീ അവനോട്: യജമാനനേ, നീ ഒരു പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു ഞാൻ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നു.
20 Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”
൨൦ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ ഈ മലയിൽ ആരാധിച്ചുവന്നു; എന്നാൽ ആരാധിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന സ്ഥലം യെരൂശലേമിൽ ആകുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
൨൧യേശു അവളോട് പറഞ്ഞത്: സ്ത്രീയേ, എന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്ക; നിങ്ങൾ പിതാവിനെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നത് ഈ മലയിലും അല്ല യെരൂശലേമിലും അല്ല എന്നുള്ള സമയം വരുന്നു.
22 You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.
൨൨നിങ്ങൾ അറിയാത്തതിനെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളോ അറിയുന്നതിനെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു; രക്ഷ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ നിന്നല്ലോ വരുന്നത്.
23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshipers.
൨൩സത്യനമസ്ക്കാരികൾ പിതാവിനെ ആത്മാവിലും സത്യത്തിലും ആരാധിക്കുന്ന നാഴിക വരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ വന്നുമിരിക്കുന്നു. തന്നെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നവർ ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവർ ആയിരിക്കണം എന്നു പിതാവ് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
൨൪ദൈവം ആത്മാവ് ആകുന്നു; അവനെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നവർ ആത്മാവിലും സത്യത്തിലും ആരാധിക്കണം.
25 The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming, he who is called Christ. When he has come, he will declare to us all things.”
൨൫സ്ത്രീ അവനോട്: മശീഹ എന്നുവച്ചാൽ ക്രിസ്തു വരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു; അവൻ വരുമ്പോൾ സകലവും അറിയിച്ചുതരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
26 Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who speaks to you.”
൨൬യേശു അവളോട്: നിന്നോട് സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഞാൻ തന്നേ മശീഹ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27 Just then, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, “What are you looking for?” or, “Why do you speak with her?”
൨൭ഇതിനിടയിൽ അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ വന്നു അവൻ സ്ത്രീയോട് സംസാരിക്കുകയാൽ ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു എങ്കിലും: നീ എന്ത് ചോദിക്കുന്നു? അവളോട് എന്ത് സംസാരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ആരും ചോദിച്ചില്ല.
28 So the woman left her water pot, went away into the city, and said to the people,
൨൮അനന്തരം സ്ത്രീ പാത്രം വെച്ചിട്ട് പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്ന് ജനങ്ങളോട്:
29 “Come, see a man who told me everything that I have done. Can this be the Christ?”
൨൯ഞാൻ ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും എന്നോട് പറഞ്ഞ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ വന്നുകാണ്മിൻ; അവൻ പക്ഷേ ക്രിസ്തു ആയിരിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
30 They went out of the city, and were coming to him.
൩൦അവർ പട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു.
31 In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
൩൧അതേസമയം ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവനോട്: റബ്ബീ, ഭക്ഷിച്ചാലും എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”
൩൨അതിന് അവൻ: നിങ്ങൾ അറിയാത്ത ആഹാരം ഭക്ഷിക്കുവാൻ എനിക്ക് ഉണ്ട് എന്നു അവരോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
33 The disciples therefore said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?”
൩൩ആകയാൽ ആരെങ്കിലും അവന് ഭക്ഷിക്കുവാൻ കൊണ്ടുവന്നുവോ എന്നു ശിഷ്യന്മാർ തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.
34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.
൩൪യേശു അവരോട് പറഞ്ഞത്: എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ചെയ്തു അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി തികയ്ക്കുന്നത് തന്നേ എന്റെ ആഹാരം.
35 Don’t you say, ‘There are yet four months until the harvest’? Behold, I tell you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, that they are white for harvest already.
൩൫ഇനി നാല് മാസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ട് കൊയ്ത്ത് വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നില്ലയോ? നിങ്ങൾ തലപൊക്കി നോക്കിയാൽ വയലുകൾ ഇപ്പോൾ തന്നേ കൊയ്ത്തിന് വിളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതു കാണും എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.
36 He who reaps receives wages and gathers fruit to eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
൩൬വിതയ്ക്കുന്നവനും കൊയ്യുന്നവനും ഒരുമിച്ചു സന്തോഷിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം കൊയ്യുന്നവൻ കൂലി വാങ്ങി നിത്യജീവങ്കലേക്ക് വിളവ് കൂട്ടിവയ്ക്കുന്നു. (aiōnios g166)
37 For in this the saying is true, ‘One sows, and another reaps.’
൩൭വിതയ്ക്കുന്നത് ഒരുവൻ, കൊയ്യുന്നത് മറ്റൊരുത്തൻ എന്നുള്ള ചൊല്ല് ഇതിൽ യാഥാർത്ഥ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു.
38 I sent you to reap that for which you haven’t labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”
൩൮നിങ്ങൾ അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തത് കൊയ്യുവാൻ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മറ്റുള്ളവർ അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു; അവരുടെ അദ്ധ്വാനഫലത്തിലേക്ക് നിങ്ങൾ പ്രവേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
39 From that city many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, “He told me everything that I have done.”
൩൯ഞാൻ ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും അവൻ എന്നോട് പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു സ്ത്രീ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞതുനിമിത്തം ആ പട്ടണത്തിലെ അനേകം ശമര്യക്കാർ അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചു.
40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days.
൪൦അങ്ങനെ ശമര്യർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു തങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പാർക്കേണം എന്നു അവനോട് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അവൻ രണ്ടുനാൾ അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു.
41 Many more believed because of his word.
൪൧ഏറ്റവും അധികംപേർ അവന്റെ വചനം കേട്ട് വിശ്വസിച്ചു:
42 They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”
൪൨ഇനി നിന്റെ വാക്കുകൊണ്ടല്ല ഞങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നത്; ഞങ്ങൾ തന്നേ കേൾക്കുകയും അവൻ സാക്ഷാൽ ലോകരക്ഷിതാവ് എന്നു അറിയുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അവർ സ്ത്രീയോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
43 After the two days he went out from there and went into Galilee.
൪൩ആ രണ്ടു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ട് അവൻ അവിടംവിട്ട് ഗലീലയ്ക്കു് പോയി.
44 For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
൪൪പ്രവാചകന് തന്റെ സ്വദേശത്ത് ബഹുമാനം ഇല്ല എന്ന് യേശു തന്നേ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.
45 So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast.
൪൫അവൻ ഗലീലയിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഗലീലക്കാർ അവനെ സ്വീകരിച്ചു. തങ്ങൾ പെരുന്നാളിന് യെരൂശലേമിൽ പോയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട്, അവൻ പെരുന്നാളിൽ ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും കണ്ടിരുന്നു.
46 Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water into wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.
൪൬അവൻ പിന്നെയും താൻ വെള്ളം വീഞ്ഞാക്കിയ ഗലീലയിലെ കാനയിൽ വന്നു. അന്ന് മകൻ രോഗിയായിരുന്നൊരു രാജഭൃത്യൻ കഫർന്നഹൂമിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
47 When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him and begged him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.
൪൭യേശു യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഗലീലയിൽ വന്നു എന്നു അവൻ കേട്ട് അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്, തന്റെ മകൻ മരിക്കാറായിരിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് അവൻ വന്നു അവനെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
48 Jesus therefore said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will in no way believe.”
൪൮യേശു അവനോട്: നിങ്ങൾ അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും കണ്ടിട്ടല്ലാതെ വിശ്വസിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
49 The nobleman said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
൪൯രാജഭൃത്യൻ അവനോട്: കർത്താവേ, പൈതൽ മരിക്കുംമുമ്പേ വരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
50 Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.
൫൦യേശു അവനോട്: പൊയ്ക്കൊൾക; നിന്റെ മകൻ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യേശു പറഞ്ഞവാക്ക് വിശ്വസിച്ചു ആ മനുഷ്യൻ പോയി.
51 As he was going down, his servants met him and reported, saying “Your child lives!”
൫൧അവൻ പോകയിൽ അവന്റെ ദാസന്മാർ അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു മകൻ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
52 So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour, the fever left him.”
൫൨അവന് ഭേദം വന്ന സമയം അവരോട് ചോദിച്ചതിന് അവർ അവനോട്: ഇന്നലെ ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് ഒരുമണിയ്ക്ക് പനി വിട്ടുമാറി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
53 So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” He believed, as did his whole house.
൫൩ആകയാൽ നിന്റെ മകൻ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞ ആ സമയത്തുതന്നെ എന്നു അപ്പൻ ഗ്രഹിച്ചു താനും കുടുംബം ഒക്കെയും വിശ്വസിച്ചു.
54 This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
൫൪യേശു യെഹൂദ്യയിൽനിന്നു ഗലീലയിൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ ഇതു രണ്ടാമത്തെ അടയാളമായിട്ട് ചെയ്തു.
