Isaiah 66
1 Yahweh says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build to me? Where will I rest?
Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Le ciel est mon trône et la terre mon marchepied; où est la maison que vous me bâtiriez, et où le lieu où je m'établirais?
2 For my hand has made all these things, and so all these things came to be,” says Yahweh: “but I will look to this man, even to he who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.
Eh! tout cela, ma main l'a fait; et tout cela reçut l'être, dit l'Éternel. Mais sur celui-ci je fixe mes regards, sur le pauvre, et sur celui qui a l'esprit abattu et qui craint ma parole.
3 He who kills an ox is as he who kills a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, as he who breaks a dog’s neck; he who offers an offering, as he who offers pig’s blood; he who burns frankincense, as he who blesses an idol. Yes, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations.
Qui sacrifie un bœuf, tue un homme; qui immole une brebis, égorge un chien; qui présente une offrande, offre du sang de porc; qui brûle de l'encens, adore des idoles. Si eux ils ont choisi leurs voies, et si leur âme se complaît dans leurs abominations,
4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears on them, because when I called, no one answered; when I spoke, they didn’t listen, but they did that which was evil in my eyes, and chose that in which I didn’t delight.”
moi aussi je choisirai leur ruine, et ferai fondre sur eux ce qu'ils craignent; car j'ai appelé et personne ne répondit; j'ai parlé, et ils n'écoutèrent point et firent ce qui est mal à mes yeux, et choisirent ce que je n'approuve pas.
5 Hear Yahweh’s word, you who tremble at his word: “Your brothers who hate you, who cast you out for my name’s sake, have said, ‘Let Yahweh be glorified, that we may see your joy;’ but it is those who shall be disappointed.
Entendez la parole de l'Éternel, vous qui craignez sa parole. Vos frères qui vous haïssent et vous repoussent à cause de mon nom, disent: « Que l'Éternel se montre dans sa gloire pour que nous voyions votre joie! »
6 A voice of tumult from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of Yahweh that repays his enemies what they deserve.
Mais ils seront confondus! une voix de tumulte part de la ville, une voix part du temple, la voix de l'Éternel qui apporte le salaire à ses ennemis.
7 “Before she travailed, she gave birth. Before her pain came, she delivered a son.
Avant de sentir les douleurs, elle a enfanté; avant que lui viennent les angoisses, elle est délivrée d'un fils.
8 Who has heard of such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? Shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion travailed, she gave birth to her children.
Qui jamais entendit choses pareilles? qui en vit de semblables? Un pays est-il enfanté d'un jour, ou un peuple naît-il tout d'un coup, qu'après une douleur Sion aussitôt mette au jour ses enfants?
9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to be delivered?” says Yahweh. “Shall I who cause to give birth shut the womb?” says your God.
Pourrais-je ouvrir les portes de la vie, et ne pas laisser enfanter? dit l'Éternel; ou, laissant enfanter, les fermerais-je? dit ton Dieu.
10 “Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her. Rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn over her;
Réjouissez-vous avec Jérusalem, et qu'elle excite votre allégresse, ô vous tous qui l'aimez! Soyez heureux avec elle de son bonheur, vous tous qui êtes en deuil d'elle,
11 that you may nurse and be satisfied at the comforting breasts; that you may drink deeply, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.”
afin d'être allaités et rassasiés du lait qui la console, pour vous abreuver avec délices au flux radieux de sa gloire!
12 For Yahweh says, “Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream, and you will nurse. You will be carried on her side, and will be dandled on her knees.
Car ainsi parle l'Éternel: Voici, je dirige vers elle la paix comme un fleuve, et comme un torrent débordé la gloire des nations: et vous serez allaités, sur les bras vous serez portés, et caressés sur les genoux.
13 As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you. You will be comforted in Jerusalem.”
Tel un homme que console sa mère, ainsi je vous consolerai, et en Jérusalem vous serez consolés.
14 You will see it, and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones will flourish like the tender grass. Yahweh’s hand will be known among his servants; and he will have indignation against his enemies.
Vous le verrez, et votre cœur en sera joyeux, et vos os d'un gazon frais auront la vigueur, et la main de l'Éternel sera manifeste à ses serviteurs; mais Il est irrité contre ses ennemis.
15 For, behold, Yahweh will come with fire, and his chariots will be like the whirlwind; to render his anger with fierceness, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
Car voici, l'Éternel arrive dans un feu, et ses chars sont comme l'ouragan, pour vomir sa colère en fureur et son courroux en flammes de feu.
16 For Yahweh will execute judgment by fire and by his sword on all flesh; and those slain by Yahweh will be many.
Car l'Éternel châtie par le feu, et toute chair par son épée, et nombreux sont les morts de l'Éternel.
17 “Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves to go to the gardens, following one in the middle, eating pig’s meat, abominable things, and the mouse, they shall come to an end together,” says Yahweh.
Ceux qui dans une enceinte font des lustrations et des purifications pour se rendre dans les bocages à la suite d'un [prêtre], qui mangent la chair du porc, et des choses abominables et des souris, ensemble ils périront, dit l'Éternel.
18 “For I know their works and their thoughts. The time comes that I will gather all nations and languages, and they will come, and will see my glory.
Me voici, en présence de leurs œuvres et de leurs pensées!… Le moment est venu de rassembler toutes les nations et toutes les langues, et elles viendront et contempleront ma gloire.
19 “I will set a sign among them, and I will send those who escape of them to the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, who draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan, to far-away islands, who have not heard my fame, nor have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the nations.
Je mettrai en eux un signe, et du milieu d'eux j'enverrai des réchappés aux nations, à Tarsis, à Phul et à Lud qui bandent l'arc, à Thubal et à Javan, aux îles lointaines qui jamais n'ouïrent parler de moi et ne virent ma gloire, et ils publieront ma gloire parmi les nations.
20 They shall bring all your brothers out of all the nations for an offering to Yahweh, on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules, and on camels, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says Yahweh, as the children of Israel bring their offering in a clean vessel into Yahweh’s house.
Et elles amèneront tous vos frères du milieu de tous les peuples en offrande à l'Éternel, sur des chevaux, et sur des chars, et en litière, et sur des mulets, et sur des dromadaires, à ma sainte montagne, à Jérusalem, dit l'Éternel, comme les enfants d'Israël apportent leurs offrandes dans des vases purs à la maison de l'Éternel.
21 Of them I will also select priests and Levites,” says Yahweh.
Et de ceux-ci aussi j'en prendrai pour Sacrificateurs et Lévites, dit l'Éternel.
22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me,” says Yahweh, “so your offspring and your name shall remain.
Car, de même que les nouveaux Cieux et la nouvelle terre que je crée, subsistent devant moi, dit l'Éternel, ainsi subsisteront devant moi votre race et votre nom.
23 It shall happen that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, all flesh will come to worship before me,” says Yahweh.
Et de nouvelle lune en nouvelle lune, et de sabbat en sabbat, toute chair viendra se prosterner devant ma face, dit l'Éternel.
24 “They will go out, and look at the dead bodies of the men who have transgressed against me; for their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”
Et ils sortiront et verront les cadavres des hommes qui se rebellèrent contre moi, car leur ver ne mourra point, et leur feu ne s'éteindra point, et ils seront en horreur à toute chair.
