Isaiah 38

1 In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him, and said to him, “Yahweh says, ‘Set your house in order, for you will die, and not live.’”

N'aquelles dias Ezequias adoeceu d'uma enfermidade mortal: e veiu a elle Isaias, filho d'Amós, o propheta, e lhe disse: Assim diz o Senhor: Ordena a tua casa, porque morrerás, e não viverás.

2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to Yahweh,

Então virou Ezequias o seu rosto para a parede; e orou ao Senhor.

3 and said, “Remember now, Yahweh, I beg you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight.” Then Hezekiah wept bitterly.

E disse: Ah Senhor, lembra-te, te peço, de que andei diante de ti em verdade, e com coração perfeito, e fiz o que era recto aos teus olhos. E chorou Ezequias muitissimo.

4 Then Yahweh’s word came to Isaiah, saying,

Então veiu a palavra do Senhor a Isaias, dizendo:

5 “Go, and tell Hezekiah, ‘Yahweh, the God of David your father, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add fifteen years to your life.

Vae, e dize a Ezequias: Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de David teu pae: Ouvi a tua oração, e vi as tuas lagrimas; eis que accrescento sobre os teus dias quinze annos.

6 I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city.

E livrar-te-hei das mãos do rei da Assyria, a ti, e a esta cidade, e ampararei a esta cidade.

7 This shall be the sign to you from Yahweh, that Yahweh will do this thing that he has spoken.

E isto te será por signal da parte do Senhor de que o Senhor cumprirá esta palavra que fallou.

8 Behold, I will cause the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down on the sundial of Ahaz with the sun, to return backward ten steps.”’” So the sun returned ten steps on the sundial on which it had gone down.

Eis que farei tornar a sombra dos graus, que declinou com o sol pelos graus do relogio d'Achaz dez graus atraz. Assim tornou o sol dez graus atraz, pelos graus que já tinha descido.

9 The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and had recovered of his sickness:

Escripturas d'Ezequias, rei de Judah, de quando adoeceu e sarou de sua enfermidade.

10 I said, “In the middle of my life I go into the gates of Sheol. I am deprived of the residue of my years.” (Sheol h7585)

Eu disse no cessar de meus dias: Ir-me-hei ás portas da sepultura: já estou privado do resto de meus annos. (Sheol h7585)

11 I said, “I won’t see Yah, Yah in the land of the living. I will see man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

Disse tambem: Já não verei mais ao Senhor, digo, na terra dos viventes: jámais verei o homem com os moradores do mundo.

12 My dwelling is removed, and is carried away from me like a shepherd’s tent. I have rolled up my life like a weaver. He will cut me off from the loom. From day even to night you will make an end of me.

Já o tempo da minha vida se foi, e foi trespassado de mim, como choça de pastor: cortei a minha vida, como tecelão que corta a sua teia; como desde os liços me cortará; desde o dia até á noite me acabarás.

13 I waited patiently until morning. He breaks all my bones like a lion. From day even to night you will make an end of me.

Isto me propunha até á madrugada, que, como um leão, quebrantaria todos os meus ossos: desde o dia até á noite me acabarás.

14 I chattered like a swallow or a crane. I moaned like a dove. My eyes weaken looking upward. Lord, I am oppressed. Be my security.”

Como o grou, ou a andorinha, assim chilreava, e gemia como a pomba: alçava os meus olhos ao alto; ó Senhor ando opprimido, fica por meu fiador.

15 What will I say? He has both spoken to me, and himself has done it. I will walk carefully all my years because of the anguish of my soul.

Que direi? como m'o prometteu, assim o fez: assim passarei mansamente por todos os meus annos, por causa da amargura da minha alma.

16 Lord, men live by these things; and my spirit finds life in all of them. You restore me, and cause me to live.

Senhor, com estas coisas se vive, e em todas ellas está a vida do meu espirito, porque tu me curaste e me saraste.

17 Behold, for peace I had great anguish, but you have in love for my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; for you have cast all my sins behind your back.

Eis que até na paz a amargura me foi amarga; tu porém tão amorosamente abraçaste a minha alma, que não caiu na cova da corrupção; porque lançaste para traz das tuas costas todos os meus peccados.

18 For Sheol can’t praise you. Death can’t celebrate you. Those who go down into the pit can’t hope for your truth. (Sheol h7585)

Porque não te louvará a sepultura, nem a morte te glorificará: nem tão pouco esperarão em tua verdade os que descem á cova. (Sheol h7585)

19 The living, the living, he shall praise you, as I do today. The father shall make known your truth to the children.

O vivente, o vivente, esse te louvará como eu hoje o faço: o pae aos filhos fará notoria a tua verdade.

20 Yahweh will save me. Therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments all the days of our life in Yahweh’s house.

O Senhor veiu salvar-me; pelo que, tangendo em meus instrumentos, lhe cantaremos todos os dias de nossa vida na casa do Senhor.

21 Now Isaiah had said, “Let them take a cake of figs, and lay it for a poultice on the boil, and he shall recover.”

E dissera Isaias: Tomem uma pasta de figos, e a ponham como emplasto sobre a chaga; e sarará.

22 Hezekiah also had said, “What is the sign that I will go up to Yahweh’s house?”

Tambem dissera Ezequias: Qual será o signal de que hei de subir á casa do Senhor?
