Ezekiel 7
1 Moreover Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
Et la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:
2 “You, son of man, the Lord Yahweh says to the land of Israel, ‘An end! The end has come on the four corners of the land.
Et toi, fils de l'homme, ainsi prononce le Seigneur, l'Éternel, sur le pays d'Israël: Une fin, il vient une fin pour les quatre extrémités du pays!
3 Now the end is on you, and I will send my anger on you, and will judge you according to your ways. I will bring on you all your abominations.
Maintenant la fin arrive pour toi, je vais lancer ma fureur contre toi, et te juger d'après tes voies, et faire retomber sur toi toutes tes abominations.
4 My eye will not spare you, neither will I have pity; but I will bring your ways on you, and your abominations will be among you. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.’
Mes yeux seront sans pitié pour toi, et je n'aurai point de compassion; mais je ferai retomber sur toi ta conduite, et tes abominations demeureront en toi, afin que vous reconnaissiez que je suis l'Éternel.
5 “The Lord Yahweh says: ‘A disaster! A unique disaster! Behold, it comes.
Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Un malheur! malheur unique! voici, il arrive.
6 An end has come. The end has come! It awakes against you. Behold, it comes.
La fin arrive; elle arrive la fin: c'en est fait de toi! voici, elle arrive.
7 Your doom has come to you, inhabitant of the land! The time has come! The day is near, a day of tumult, and not of joyful shouting, on the mountains.
Ton tour vient, habitant du pays! Le temps arrive, le jour est proche; c'est une rumeur, et non les cris joyeux des montagnes.
8 Now I will shortly pour out my wrath on you, and accomplish my anger against you, and will judge you according to your ways. I will bring on you all your abominations.
Je vais incessamment verser ma colère sur toi, et assouvir ma fureur sur toi, et te juger selon tes voies, et faire retomber sur toi toutes tes abominations.
9 My eye won’t spare, neither will I have pity. I will punish you according to your ways. Your abominations will be among you. Then you will know that I, Yahweh, strike.
Mes yeux seront sans pitié, et je n'aurai point de compassion; selon tes œuvres je te rendrai, et tes abominations seront dans ton sein, afin que vous reconnaissiez que c'est moi l'Éternel, qui frappe.
10 “‘Behold, the day! Behold, it comes! Your doom has gone out. The rod has blossomed. Pride has budded.
Voici le jour! voici, il arrive! le tour vient! la verge fleurit, l'orgueil germe.
11 Violence has risen up into a rod of wickedness. None of them will remain, nor of their multitude, nor of their wealth. There will be nothing of value among them.
La violence s'élève comme la verge de l'impiété. D'eux il ne restera rien, ni de leur foule, ni de leur multitude, et ils n'auront plus de magnificence.
12 The time has come! The day draws near. Don’t let the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn; for wrath is on all its multitude.
Le temps arrive, le jour est imminent. Que l'acheteur ne se réjouisse pas, et que le vendeur ne s'afflige pas; car il y a courroux contre toute leur multitude.
13 For the seller won’t return to that which is sold, although they are still alive; for the vision concerns the whole multitude of it. None will return. None will strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.
Car le vendeur ne recouvrera pas ce qu'il a vendu, fût-il encore parmi les vivants; car la prophétie faite contre toute leur multitude ne sera pas retirée, et quiconque vit dans son impiété, ne pourra subsister.
14 They have blown the trumpet, and have made all ready; but no one goes to the battle, for my wrath is on all its multitude.
On sonne la trompette, et l'on prépare tout; mais personne ne marche au combat; car ma colère est contre toute leur multitude.
15 “‘The sword is outside, and the pestilence and the famine within. He who is in the field will die by the sword. He who is in the city will be devoured by famine and pestilence.
Au dehors l'épée, et au dedans la peste et la famine. Qui sera dans les champs, mourra par l'épée, et qui sera dans la ville, par la famine et la peste sera dévoré.
16 But of those who escape, they will escape and will be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, everyone in his iniquity.
Et s'il en échappe, ils seront sur les montagnes, comme les colombes des vallées, tous gémissant, chacun pour son crime.
17 All hands will be feeble, and all knees will be weak as water.
Toutes les mains sont défaillantes, et tous les genoux se fondent en eau.
18 They will also clothe themselves with sackcloth, and horror will cover them. Shame will be on all faces, and baldness on all their heads.
Ils se ceignent du cilice, et l'effroi les enveloppe: la honte est sur tous les visages, et toutes les têtes sont devenues chauves.
19 They will cast their silver in the streets, and their gold will be as an unclean thing. Their silver and their gold won’t be able to deliver them in the day of Yahweh’s wrath. They won’t satisfy their souls or fill their bellies; because it has been the stumbling block of their iniquity.
Ils jetteront leur argent dans les rues, et leur or sera pour eux de l'ordure. Leur argent ni leur or ne pourra les sauver au jour de la colère de l'Éternel; ils ne pourront en assouvir leurs désirs, ni en remplir leurs entrailles; car c'est ce qui les fit tomber dans le crime.
20 As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty; but they made the images of their abominations and their detestable things therein. Therefore I have made it to them as an unclean thing.
L'éclat qui les pare, excita leur orgueil, et ils en ont fabriqué leurs abominations et leurs infamies; c'est pourquoi je le rendrai pour eux de l'ordure,
21 I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a plunder; and they will profane it.
et j'en ferai la proie des étrangers, et le butin des impies de la terre, afin qu'ils le souillent.
22 I will also turn my face from them, and they will profane my secret place. Robbers will enter into it, and profane it.
Et je détournerai d'eux mon visage; et l'on profanera mon secret [sanctuaire]: des furieux y pénétreront et le profaneront.
23 “‘Make chains, for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.
Prépare les chaînes! Car le pays est rempli du crime de sang versé, et la ville est remplie de violence.
24 Therefore I will bring the worst of the nations, and they will possess their houses. I will also make the pride of the strong to cease. Their holy places will be profaned.
Et je ferai venir les plus méchants d'entre les peuples, pour qu'ils s'emparent de leurs maisons; et je mettrai un terme à l'orgueil des puissants, et leurs sanctuaires seront profanés.
25 Destruction comes! They will seek peace, and there will be none.
La ruine arrive, et ils cherchent le salut, mais il n'y en a point.
26 Mischief will come on mischief, and rumor will be on rumor. They will seek a vision of the prophet; but the law will perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.
Il arrive désastre sur désastre; on entend nouvelle sur nouvelle; ils demandent des oracles aux prophètes, mais la loi échappe aux sacrificateurs, et la prudence aux vieillards.
27 The king will mourn, and the prince will be clothed with desolation. The hands of the people of the land will be troubled. I will do to them after their way, and according to their own judgments I will judge them. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’”
Le roi est dans le deuil, et le prince est enveloppé d'épouvante, et les mains du peuple du pays sont tremblantes. D'après leur conduite je veux les traiter, et selon leurs mérites je les jugerai, afin qu'ils reconnaissent que je suis l'Éternel.
