Ephesians 2
1 You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins,
Vous êtes devenus vivants, lorsque vous étiez morts dans vos transgressions et dans vos péchés,
2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience. (aiōn g165)
dans lesquels vous marchiez autrefois selon le cours de ce monde, selon le prince de la puissance de l'air, l'esprit qui agit maintenant dans les enfants de la désobéissance. (aiōn g165)
3 We also all once lived among them in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.
Nous aussi, nous avons tous vécu autrefois parmi eux dans les convoitises de notre chair, en accomplissant les désirs de la chair et de l'intelligence, et nous étions par nature des enfants de colère, comme les autres.
4 But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us,
Mais Dieu, riche en miséricorde, à cause du grand amour dont il nous a aimés,
5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
alors que nous étions morts par nos offenses, nous a rendus à la vie avec Christ - c'est par la grâce que vous avez été sauvés -
6 and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
il nous a ressuscités avec lui, et nous a fait asseoir avec lui dans les lieux célestes en Jésus-Christ,
7 that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus; (aiōn g165)
afin de montrer dans les siècles à venir l'immense richesse de sa grâce en bonté envers nous en Jésus-Christ; (aiōn g165)
8 for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
Car c'est par la grâce que vous avez été sauvés, par le moyen de la foi, et cela ne vient pas de vous; c'est le don de Dieu,
9 not of works, that no one would boast.
et non des œuvres, afin que personne ne se glorifie.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.
Car nous sommes son ouvrage, créés en Jésus-Christ pour de bonnes œuvres, que Dieu a préparées d'avance, afin que nous les pratiquions.
11 Therefore remember that once you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “uncircumcision” by that which is called “circumcision” (in the flesh, made by hands),
Souvenez-vous donc qu'autrefois vous, païens dans la chair, appelés incirconcis par ce qu'on appelle la circoncision (dans la chair, faite de main d'homme),
12 that you were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
vous étiez en ce temps-là séparés de Christ, étrangers à la communauté d'Israël, étrangers aux alliances de la promesse, sans espérance et sans Dieu dans le monde.
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off are made near in the blood of Christ.
Mais maintenant, en Jésus-Christ, vous qui étiez autrefois éloignés, vous êtes devenus proches par le sang du Christ.
14 For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the middle wall of separation,
Car c'est lui qui est notre paix, qui a fait de l'un et de l'autre un seul être, et qui a abattu le mur de séparation,
15 having abolished in his flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace,
ayant aboli dans sa chair l'inimitié, la loi des commandements contenus dans les ordonnances, afin de créer en lui-même un seul homme nouveau à partir des deux, en faisant la paix,
16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, having killed the hostility through it.
et de les réconcilier tous deux en un seul corps avec Dieu par la croix, ayant par elle tué l'inimitié.
17 He came and preached peace to you who were far off and to those who were near.
Il est venu annoncer la paix à vous qui êtes loin et à ceux qui sont proches.
18 For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
Car c'est par lui que nous avons accès au Père dans un seul Esprit.
19 So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God,
Ainsi donc, vous n'êtes plus des étrangers et des gens du pays, mais vous êtes concitoyens des saints et de la maison de Dieu,
20 being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone;
étant édifiés sur le fondement des apôtres et des prophètes, Jésus-Christ lui-même étant la principale pierre angulaire,
21 in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord;
en qui tout l'édifice, en s'ajustant les uns aux autres, s'élève pour former un temple saint dans le Seigneur,
22 in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.
en qui vous êtes aussi édifiés pour être une habitation de Dieu dans l'Esprit.
