Colossians 2
1 For I desire to have you know how greatly I struggle for you and for those at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
Je veux, en effet, que vous sachiez combien est grand le combat que je soutiens pour vous et pour ceux qui sont à Laodicée, comme pour tous ceux qui ne me connaissent pas de visage,
2 that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and gaining all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,
afin que leurs coeurs soient consolés et qu'ils soient unis dans la charité, pour être enrichis d'une pleine certitude de l'intelligence, de manière à connaître le mystère de Dieu, le Christ,
3 in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.
dans lequel sont cachés tous les trésors de la sagesse et de la science.
4 Now I say this that no one may delude you with persuasiveness of speech.
Je dis cela, afin que personne ne vous abuse par des discours séduisants.
5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, rejoicing and seeing your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.
Car, bien qu'absent de corps, je suis avec vous en esprit, et je me réjouis de voir le bon ordre qui règne parmi vous et la fermeté de votre foi en Christ.
6 As therefore you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him,
Ainsi, comme vous avez reçu le Seigneur Jésus-Christ, marchez unis à lui;
7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving.
soyez enracinés et fondés en lui, affermis par la foi, telle qu'elle vous a été enseignée, et abondez en actions de grâces.
8 Be careful that you don’t let anyone rob you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elemental spirits of the world, and not after Christ.
Prenez garde de ne pas vous laisser séduire par la philosophie et par de vaines subtilités, s'inspirant des traditions humaines et des rudiments du monde, et non des enseignements du Christ.
9 For in him all the fullness of the Deity dwells bodily,
Car en lui habite corporellement toute la plénitude de la divinité.
10 and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power.
Et vous, vous avez tout pleinement en lui, qui est le chef de toute souveraineté et de toute puissance.
11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ,
En lui aussi vous avez été circoncis, non d'une circoncision faite par la main de l'homme, mais de la circoncision du Christ, qui consiste dans le dépouillement de notre être charnel.
12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.
Ayant été ensevelis avec lui par le baptême, vous êtes aussi ressuscités avec lui, par la foi en la puissance de Dieu qui l'a ressuscité des morts.
13 You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
Lorsque vous étiez morts par vos fautes et dans l'incirconcision de votre chair, il vous a fait revivre avec lui; car il nous a pardonné toutes nos fautes.
14 wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us. He has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.
Il a effacé l'acte qui était rédigé contre nous et dont les dispositions nous étaient contraires, et il l'a supprimé, en le clouant à la croix;
15 Having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
il a dépouillé les dominations et les puissances, et il les a publiquement livrées en spectacle, en triomphant d'elles par la croix.
16 Let no one therefore judge you in eating or drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day,
Ainsi donc, que personne ne porte un jugement sur vous à propos de ce que vous mangez ou buvez, ou à propos d'une fête, d'une nouvelle lune, ou d'un sabbat;
17 which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ’s.
tout cela n'est que l'ombre des choses qui devaient venir, mais le corps est en Christ.
18 Let no one rob you of your prize by self-abasement and worshiping of the angels, dwelling in the things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
Ne vous laissez pas enlever de prix de la course par ces gens qui, sous prétexte d'humilité, veulent rendre un culte aux anges. S'abandonnant à leurs propres visions, enflés d'un vain orgueil par leur sens charnel,
19 and not holding firmly to the Head, from whom all the body, being supplied and knit together through the joints and ligaments, grows with God’s growth.
ils ne demeurent pas attachés au chef, de qui tout le corps, soutenu et fortement uni par ses jointures et ses articulations, reçoit le développement qui vient de Dieu.
20 If you died with Christ from the elemental spirits of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances,
Si vous êtes morts avec Christ aux rudiments du monde, pourquoi vous laissez-vous imposer ces prescriptions, comme si vous viviez encore dans le monde:
21 “Don’t handle, nor taste, nor touch”
Ne prends pas, ne goûte pas, ne touche pas?
22 (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men?
Toutes ces prescriptions sont pernicieuses par l'abus qu'on en fait, et elles ne s'inspirent que de préceptes et de commandements humains,
23 These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, humility, and severity to the body, but aren’t of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.
bien qu'elles se donnent des apparences de sagesse, par un culte volontaire et par une certaine humilité, en n'épargnant pas le corps et en n'ayant point égard à la satisfaction de la chair.
