Acts 8
1 Saul was consenting to his death. A great persecution arose against the assembly which was in Jerusalem in that day. They were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for the apostles.
১শৌল সেখানে তাঁর হত্যার পক্ষে অনুমোদন করছিলেন। সেই দিন যিরূশালেম মণ্ডলীর উপর ভীষণ অত্যাচার শুরু হল, তারফলে প্রেরিতরা ছাড়া অন্য সবাই যিহূদিয়া ও শমরিয়ায় ছড়িয়ে পড়ল।
2 Devout men buried Stephen and lamented greatly over him.
২কয়েক জন ভক্ত লোক স্তিফানকে কবর দিলেন ও তাঁর জন্য গভীর শোক প্রকাশ করলেন।
3 But Saul ravaged the assembly, entering into every house and dragged both men and women off to prison.
৩কিন্তু শৌল মণ্ডলীকে ধ্বংস করার জন্য, ঘরে ঘরে ঢুকে বিশ্বাসীদের ধরে টানতে টানতে এনে জেলে বন্দি করতে লাগলেন।
4 Therefore those who were scattered abroad went around preaching the word.
৪তখন যারা চারিদিকে ছড়িয়ে ছিটিয়ে পড়েছিল, তারা সে সব জায়গায় সুসমাচার প্রচার করতে লাগলো।
5 Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed to them the Christ.
৫আর ফিলিপ শমরিয়ার অঞ্চলে গিয়ে লোকেদের কাছে খ্রীষ্টকে প্রচার করতে লাগলেন।
6 The multitudes listened with one accord to the things that were spoken by Philip when they heard and saw the signs which he did.
৬লোকেরা ফিলিপের কথা শুনল ও তাঁর সমস্ত আশ্চর্য্য কাজ দেখে একমনে তাঁর কথা শুনতে লাগলো
7 For unclean spirits came out of many of those who had them. They came out, crying with a loud voice. Many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed.
৭কারণ মন্দ আত্মায় পাওয়া অনেক লোকেদের মধ্যে থেকে সেই আত্মারা চিৎকার করে বের হয়ে এলো এবং অনেক পক্ষাঘাতী (অসাড়) ও খোঁড়া লোকেরা সুস্থ হোল;
8 There was great joy in that city.
৮ফলে সেই শহরে মহাআনন্দ হল।
9 But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who used to practice sorcery in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, making himself out to be some great one,
৯কিন্তু শিমোন নামে এক ব্যক্তি ছিলেন, যিনি আগে থেকেই সেই নগরে যাদু দেখাতেন ও শমরীয় জাতির লোকেদের অবাক করে দিতেন, আর নিজেকে একজন মহান ব্যক্তি হিসাবে প্রকাশ করতেন;
10 to whom they all listened, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is that great power of God.”
১০তার কথা ছোট বড় সবাই শুনত, আর বলত, এই ব্যক্তি ঈশ্বরের সেই শক্তি, যা মহান নামে পরিচিত।
11 They listened to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his sorceries.
১১লোকেরা তার কথা শুনত, কারণ তিনি বহু দিন ধরে তাদের যাদু দেখিয়ে অবাক করে রেখেছিলেন।
12 But when they believed Philip preaching good news concerning God’s Kingdom and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
১২কিন্তু ফিলিপ ঈশ্বরের রাজ্য ও যীশু খ্রীষ্টের নাম সুসমাচার প্রচার করলে তারা তাঁর কথায় বিশ্বাস করল, আর পুরুষ ও মহিলারা বাপ্তিষ্ম নিল।
13 Simon himself also believed. Being baptized, he continued with Philip. Seeing signs and great miracles occurring, he was amazed.
১৩আর শিমন নিজেও বিশ্বাস করলেন, ও বাপ্তিষ্ম নিয়ে ফিলিপের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে থাকলেন; এবং আশ্চর্য্য ও শক্তিশালী কাজ দেখে অবাক হয়ে গেলেন।
14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,
১৪যিরূশালেমের প্রেরিতরা যখন শুনতে পেলেন যে শমরীয়রা ঈশ্বরের বাক্য গ্রহণ করেছে, তখন তাঁরা পিতর ও যোহন কে তাদের কাছে পাঠালেন।
15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit;
১৫যখন তাঁরা আসলেন, তাঁরা তাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা করলেন, যেন তারা পবিত্র আত্মা পায়;
16 for as yet he had fallen on none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of Christ Jesus.
১৬কারণ তখন পর্যন্ত তারা পবিত্র আত্মা পায়নি; তারা শুধু প্রভু যীশুর নামে বাপ্তিষ্ম নিয়েছিলেন।
17 Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
১৭তখন তাঁরা তাদের মাথায় হাত রাখলেন (হস্তার্পণ), আর তারা পবিত্র আত্মা পেল।
18 Now when Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money,
১৮এবং শিমন যখন দেখল, প্রেরিতদের হাত রাখার (হস্তার্পণ) মাধ্যমে পবিত্র আত্মা পাওয়া যাচ্ছে, তখন সে তাঁদের কাছে টাকা এনে বললেন,
19 saying, “Give me also this power, that whomever I lay my hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.”
১৯আমাকেও এই ক্ষমতা দিন, যেন আমি যার উপরে হাত রাখব (হস্তার্পণ) সেও পবিত্র আত্মা পায়।
20 But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!
২০কিন্তু পিতর তাকে বললেন, তোমার রূপা তোমার সঙ্গে নষ্ট হোক, কারণ ঈশ্বরের দান তুমি টাকা দিয়ে কিনতে চাইছ।
21 You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart isn’t right before God.
২১এই বিষয়ে তোমার কোনোও অংশ বা কোনোও অধিকার নেই; কারণ তোমার হৃদয় ঈশ্বরের দৃষ্টিতে ঠিক নয়।
22 Repent therefore of this, your wickedness, and ask God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
২২সুতরাং তোমার এই মন্দ চিন্তা থেকে মন ফেরাও; এবং প্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা কর, তাহলে হয়ত, তোমার হৃদয়ের পাপ ক্ষমা হলেও হতে পারে;
23 For I see that you are in the poison of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity.”
২৩কারণ আমরা দেখছি তোমার মধ্যে হিংসা আছে আর তুমি পাপের কাছে বন্দি।
24 Simon answered, “Pray for me to the Lord, that none of the things which you have spoken happen to me.”
২৪তখন শিমন বললেন, আপনারাই আমার জন্য প্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা করুন, যেন আপনারা যা কিছু বললেন তা যেন আমার সঙ্গে না ঘটে।
25 They therefore, when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the Good News to many villages of the Samaritans.
২৫পরে তাঁরা সাক্ষ্য দিলেন ও প্রভুর সম্বন্ধে আরোও অনেক কথা বললেন এবং যিরূশালেমে যাবার দিন তাঁরা শমরীয়দের গ্রামে গ্রামে সুসমাচার প্রচার করলেন।
26 Then an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise, and go toward the south to the way that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. This is a desert.”
২৬পরে প্রভুর একজন দূত ফিলিপকে বললেন, দক্ষিণে দিকে, যে রাস্তাটা যিরূশালেম থেকে ঘসা শহরের দিকে নেমে গেছে, সেই দিকে যাও; সেই জায়গাটা মরূপ্রান্তে অবস্থিত।
27 He arose and went; and behold, there was a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to Jerusalem to worship.
২৭তাই তিনি যাত্রা শুরু করলেন আর, ইথিয়পীয় দেশের এক ব্যক্তির সঙ্গে তাঁর দেখা হলো, যিনি ইথিয়পীয়ের কান্দাকি রানীর রাজত্বের অধীনে নিযুক্ত উঁচু পদের একজন নপুংসক, যিনি রানীর প্রধান কোষাধ্যক্ষ ছিলেন, তিনি আরাধনা করার জন্য যিরূশালেমে এসেছিলেন;
28 He was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah.
২৮ফিরে যাবার দিন, রথে বসে যিশাইয় ভাববাদীর বই পড়ছিলেন।
29 The Spirit said to Philip, “Go near, and join yourself to this chariot.”
২৯তখন পবিত্র আত্মা ফিলিপকে বললেন তুমি সেই ব্যক্তির রথের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে যাও।
30 Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
৩০তখন ফিলিপ রথের সঙ্গ নিলেন এবং শুনতে পেলেন, সেই ব্যক্তি যিশাইয় ভাববাদীর বই পড়ছিলেন; ফিলিপ বললেন, আপনি যা পড়ছেন, সে বিষয়গুলো কি বুঝতে পারছেন?
31 He said, “How can I, unless someone explains it to me?” He begged Philip to come up and sit with him.
৩১ইথিয়পীয় বললেন, কেউ সাহায্য না করলে, আমি কিভাবে বুঝব? তখন তিনি ফিলিপকে তাঁর রথে আসতে এবং তার সাথে বসতে অনুরোধ করলেন।
32 Now the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this, “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter. As a lamb before his shearer is silent, so he doesn’t open his mouth.
৩২তিনি শাস্ত্রের যে অংশটা পড়ছিলেন, তা হলো, যেমন মেষ বলিদান করার জন্য নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়, তেমন তিনিও বলি হলেন এবং লোম ছাঁটাইকারীদের কাছে মেষ যেমন চুপ থাকে, তেমন তিনিও চুপ করে থাকলেন।
33 In his humiliation, his judgment was taken away. Who will declare His generation? For his life is taken from the earth.”
৩৩তাঁর হীনাবস্তায় (অসহায়) তাঁকে বিচার করা হল, তাঁর সমকালীন লোকেদের বর্ণনা কে করতে পারে? কারণ তাঁর প্রাণ পৃথিবী থেকে নিয়ে নেওয়া হলো।
34 The eunuch answered Philip, “Who is the prophet talking about? About himself, or about someone else?”
৩৪নপুংসক ফিলিপকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন এবং প্রার্থনার সঙ্গে জানতে চাইলেন, ভাববাদী কার বিষয়ে এই কথা বলছেন? নিজের বিষয়ে না অন্য কারো বিষয়।
35 Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, preached to him about Jesus.
৩৫তখন ফিলিপ শাস্ত্রের অংশ থেকে শুরু করে, প্রভু যীশুর সুসমাচার তাকে জানালেন।
36 As they went on the way, they came to some water; and the eunuch said, “Behold, here is water. What is keeping me from being baptized?”
৩৬তাঁরা রাস্তা দিয়ে যেতে যেতে একটি জলাশয়ের কাছে উপস্থিত হলেন; তখন নপুংসক বললেন, এই দেখুন, জল আছে, বাপ্তিষ্ম নিতে আমার বাধা কোথায়?

38 He commanded the chariot to stand still, and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.
৩৮পরে তিনি রথ থামানোর আদেশ দিলেন, ফিলিপ ও নপুংসক দুজনেই জলে নামলেন এবং ফিলিপ তাঁকে বাপ্তিষ্ম দিলেন।
39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, and the eunuch didn’t see him any more, for he went on his way rejoicing.
৩৯তাঁরা যখন জল থেকে উঠলেন, প্রভুর আত্মা ফিলিপকে নিয়ে চলে গেলেন এবং নপুংসক তাঁকে আর কখনো দেখতে পেলেন না, কিন্তু আনন্দ করতে করতে তাঁর বাড়ি চলে গেলেন।
40 But Philip was found at Azotus. Passing through, he preached the Good News to all the cities until he came to Caesarea.
৪০এদিকে ফিলিপ কে অসদোদ নগরে দেখতে পাওয়া গেল; আর তিনি শহরে শহরে সুসমাচার প্রচার করতে করতে কৈসরিয়া শহরে উপস্থিত হলেন।
