Acts 22
1 “Brothers and fathers, listen to the defense which I now make to you.”
೧“ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ತಂದೆಗಳೇ, ಈಗ ನಾನು ನೀಡುವ ಸಮರ್ಥನೆಯ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
2 When they heard that he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, they were even more quiet. He said,
೨ಅವನು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಇಬ್ರಿಯ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಅವರು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ನಿಶ್ಯಬ್ದವಾದರು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ;
3 “I am indeed a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, instructed according to the strict tradition of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God, even as you all are today.
೩“ನಾನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯನು, ಕಿಲಿಕ್ಯದ ತಾರ್ಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವನು, ಆದರೆ ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲೇ ಬೆಳೆದವನು. ಗಮಲಿಯೇಲನ ಪಾದಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದವನು; ನೀವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಈಹೊತ್ತು ದೇವರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳಾಗಿರುವಂತೆಯೇ, ನಾನೂ ಅಭಿಮಾನಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೆನು.
4 I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women,
೪ಈ ಮಾರ್ಗದವರನ್ನು ಹಿಂಸಿಸುವವನಾಗಿ ಗಂಡಸರಿಗೂ, ಹೆಂಗಸರಿಗೂ ಬೇಡಿಹಾಕಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದೆನು, ಕೊಲೆ ಮಾಡಲಿಕ್ಕೂ ಹಿಂಜರಿಯದೆ ಹಿಂಸಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆನು.
5 as also the high priest and all the council of the elders testify, from whom also I received letters to the brothers, and traveled to Damascus to bring them also who were there to Jerusalem in bonds to be punished.
೫ಈ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನೂ, ಹಿರೀಸಭೆಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ಅವರಿಂದಲೇ ನಾನು ದಮಸ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಸಹೋದರರಿಗೆ ಪತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದವರನ್ನೂ ಬೇಡಿಗಳಿಂದ ಬಂಧಿಸಿ ದಂಡನೆಗಾಗಿ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ತರಬೇಕೆಂದು ಹೊರಟವನು.
6 “As I made my journey and came close to Damascus, about noon suddenly a great light shone around me from the sky.
೬“ನಾನು ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ದಮಸ್ಕದ ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಸುಮಾರು ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದಲ್ಲಿ ಫಕ್ಕನೆ ಆಕಾಶದೊಳಗಿಂದ ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಬೆಳಕು ನನ್ನ ಸುತ್ತಲು ಹೊಳೆಯಿತು, ನಾನು ನೆಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬಿದ್ದೆನು.
7 I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’
೭ಆಗ; ‘ಸೌಲನೇ, ಸೌಲನೇ, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ಹಿಂಸೆಪಡಿಸುತ್ತೀ’? ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಒಂದು ಶಬ್ದವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದೆನು.
8 I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ He said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you persecute.’
೮“‘ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು; ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನೀನಾರು?’ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಆತನು; ‘ನೀನು ಹಿಂಸೆಪಡಿಸುವ ನಜರೇತಿನ ಯೇಸುವೇ ನಾನು’ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
9 “Those who were with me indeed saw the light and were afraid, but they didn’t understand the voice of him who spoke to me.
೯ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರು ಬೆಳಕನ್ನು ಕಂಡರೇ ಹೊರತು, ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದಾತನ ಶಬ್ದವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.
10 I said, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ The Lord said to me, ‘Arise, and go into Damascus. There you will be told about all things which are appointed for you to do.’
೧೦“ಆಗ ನಾನು; ‘ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನಾನೇನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು’? ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಕರ್ತನು ನನಗೆ; ‘ನೀನೆದ್ದು ದಮಸ್ಕದೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗು, ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನಗೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿರುವುದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಳಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವುದು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
11 When I couldn’t see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of those who were with me, I came into Damascus.
೧೧ಆ ಬೆಳಕಿನ ಮಹಿಮೆಯಿಂದ ನನಗೆ ಕಣ್ಣುಕಾಣದೆ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರು, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೈಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ದಮಸ್ಕದೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡುಹೋದರು.
12 “One Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well reported of by all the Jews who lived in Damascus,
೧೨“ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ದೈವಭಕ್ತನೂ, ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರಿಂದ
13 came to me, and standing by me said to me, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight!’ In that very hour I looked up at him.
೧೩ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವನೆಂದು ಹೆಸರು ಹೊಂದಿದವನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದ ಅನನೀಯನೆಂಬವನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ನಿಂತು; ‘ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಸೌಲನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿಕೋ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಹೇಳಿದ ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ನನಗೆ ಕಣ್ಣು ಕಾಣಿಸಿತು, ನಾನು ಅವನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದೆನು.
14 He said, ‘The God of our fathers has appointed you to know his will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear a voice from his mouth.
೧೪“ಆಗ ಅವನು; ‘ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ದೇವರು, ತನ್ನ ಚಿತ್ತವನ್ನು ನೀನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ, ಆ ನೀತಿವಂತನನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ, ಆತನ ಬಾಯಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
15 For you will be a witness for him to all men of what you have seen and heard.
೧೫ನೀನು ಕಂಡು, ಕೇಳಿದ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಮುಂದೆ ಆತನಿಗೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿರಬೇಕು.
16 Now why do you wait? Arise, be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’
೧೬ಈಗ ನೀನೇಕೆ ತಡಮಾಡುತ್ತೀ? ಎದ್ದು ಕರ್ತನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನಾಗಿ, ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ನಿನ್ನ ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನು ತೊಳೆದುಕೋ’ ಅಂದನು.
17 “When I had returned to Jerusalem and while I prayed in the temple, I fell into a trance
೧೭“ಅನಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದು ದೇವಾಲಯದೊಳಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ, ಧ್ಯಾನಪರವಶನಾಗಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಂಡೆನು.
18 and saw him saying to me, ‘Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not receive testimony concerning me from you.’
೧೮ಆತನು; ‘ನೀನು ತ್ವರೆಪಟ್ಟು ಬೇಗನೆ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗು, ನನ್ನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ನೀನು ಹೇಳುವ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯನ್ನು ಅವರು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ’ ಅಂದನು.
19 I said, ‘Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue those who believed in you.
೧೯“ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು; ‘ಕರ್ತನೇ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಭಾಮಂದಿರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಟ್ಟವರನ್ನು, ನಾನು ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಹೊಡಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದೆನೆಂಬುದನ್ನು,
20 When the blood of Stephen, your witness, was shed, I also was standing by, consenting to his death, and guarding the cloaks of those who killed him.’
೨೦ಮತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾದ ಸ್ತೆಫನನ ರಕ್ತವು ಚೆಲ್ಲಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಾಗ, ನಾನೂ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನಿಂತು ಅದನ್ನು ಸಮ್ಮತಿಸಿ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದವರ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆನಲ್ಲಾ’ ಎಂಬುದು ಅವರೇ ಬಲ್ಲವರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
21 “He said to me, ‘Depart, for I will send you out far from here to the Gentiles.’”
೨೧ಆದರೆ ಆತನು; ‘ನೀನು ಹೋಗು, ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ದೂರಕ್ಕೆ ಅನ್ಯಜನರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆಂದು’” ಹೇಳಿದನು.
22 They listened to him until he said that; then they lifted up their voice and said, “Rid the earth of this fellow, for he isn’t fit to live!”
೨೨ಅಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೆ ಪೌಲನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆನಂತರ; “ಇಂಥವನನ್ನು ಭೂಮಿಯಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿಬಿಡು; ಇವನು ಬದುಕುವುದು ಯುಕ್ತವಲ್ಲವೆಂದು” ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
23 As they cried out, threw off their cloaks, and threw dust into the air,
೨೩ಅವರು ಕೂಗುತ್ತಾ, ತಮ್ಮ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ, ಧೂಳನ್ನು ತೂರುತ್ತಾ ಇರಲಾಗಿ,
24 the commanding officer commanded him to be brought into the barracks, ordering him to be examined by scourging, that he might know for what crime they shouted against him like that.
೨೪ಯಾವ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಹೀಗೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಯು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೋಟೆಯೊಳಗೆ ತಂದು, ಕೊರಡೆಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
25 When they had tied him up with thongs, Paul asked the centurion who stood by, “Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman, and not found guilty?”
೨೫ಅವರು ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಬಾರುಗಳಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟುವಾಗ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಶತಾಧಿಪತಿಯನ್ನು; “ರೋಮಾಪುರದ ಹಕ್ಕುದಾರನಾದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ನ್ಯಾಯವಿಚಾರಣೆಮಾಡದೆ, ಕೊರಡೆಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಡಿಸುವುದು ನಿಮಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯವೋ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
26 When the centurion heard it, he went to the commanding officer and told him, “Watch what you are about to do, for this man is a Roman!”
೨೬ಶತಾಧಿಪತಿಯು ಆ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ; “ನೀನು ಏನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದೀ? ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ರೋಮಾಪುರದ ಹಕ್ಕುದಾರನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು,
27 The commanding officer came and asked him, “Tell me, are you a Roman?” He said, “Yes.”
೨೭ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಯು ಪೌಲನ ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು; “ನೀನು ರೋಮಾಪುರದವರ ಹಕ್ಕುಳ್ಳವನೇನು? ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳು” ಎಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅವನು, “ಹೌದು” ಅಂದನು.
28 The commanding officer answered, “I bought my citizenship for a great price.” Paul said, “But I was born a Roman.”
೨೮ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಯು; “ನಾನು ಬಹಳ ಹಣಕೊಟ್ಟು ಆ ಹಕ್ಕನ್ನು ಕೊಂಡುಕೊಂಡೆನು” ಅನ್ನಲು ಪೌಲನು; “ನಾನಾದರೋ ಹಕ್ಕುದಾರನಾಗಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವನು” ಅಂದನು.
29 Immediately those who were about to examine him departed from him, and the commanding officer also was afraid when he realized that he was a Roman, because he had bound him.
೨೯ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದವರು ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ರೋಮಾಪುರದ ಹಕ್ಕುದಾರನೆಂದು ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದುಬಂದಾಗ ತಾನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನಿಗೂ ಭಯಹಿಡಿಯಿತು.
30 But on the next day, desiring to know the truth about why he was accused by the Jews, he freed him from the bonds and commanded the chief priests and all the council to come together, and brought Paul down and set him before them.
೩೦ಪೌಲನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಯಾವ ತಪ್ಪು ಹೊರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆಂಬುವ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಜವಾದ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು, ತಿಳಿಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಯು ಮರುದಿನ ಅವನ ಬೇಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಚ್ಚಿ, ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕರೂ, ಹಿರೀಸಭೆಯವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಕೂಡಿಬರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು, ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು.
