Acts 19
1 While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper country, came to Ephesus and found certain disciples.
கரிந்த²நக³ர ஆபல்லஸ: ஸ்தி²திகாலே பௌல உத்தரப்ரதே³ஸை²ராக³ச்ச²ந் இபி²ஷநக³ரம் உபஸ்தி²தவாந்| தத்ர கதிபயஸி²ஷ்யாந் ஸாக்ஷத் ப்ராப்ய தாந் அப்ரு’ச்ச²த்,
2 He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said to him, “No, we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
யூயம்’ விஸ்²வஸ்ய பவித்ரமாத்மாநம்’ ப்ராப்தா ந வா? ததஸ்தே ப்ரத்யவத³ந் பவித்ர ஆத்மா தீ³யதே இத்யஸ்மாபி⁴: ஸ்²ருதமபி நஹி|
3 He said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.”
ததா³ ஸா(அ)வத³த் தர்ஹி யூயம்’ கேந மஜ்ஜிதா அப⁴வத? தே(அ)கத²யந் யோஹநோ மஜ்ஜநேந|
4 Paul said, “John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Christ Jesus.”
ததா³ பௌல உக்தவாந் இத: பரம்’ ய உபஸ்தா²ஸ்யதி தஸ்மிந் அர்த²த யீஸு²க்²ரீஷ்டே விஸ்²வஸிதவ்யமித்யுக்த்வா யோஹந் மந: பரிவர்த்தநஸூசகேந மஜ்ஜநேந ஜலே லோகாந் அமஜ்ஜயத்|
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
தாத்³ரு’ஸீ²ம்’ கதா²ம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா தே ப்ரபோ⁴ ர்யீஸு²க்²ரீஷ்டஸ்ய நாம்நா மஜ்ஜிதா அப⁴வந்|
6 When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke with other languages and prophesied.
தத: பௌலேந தேஷாம்’ கா³த்ரேஷு கரே(அ)ர்பிதே தேஷாமுபரி பவித்ர ஆத்மாவரூட⁴வாந், தஸ்மாத் தே நாநாதே³ஸீ²யா பா⁴ஷா ப⁴விஷ்யத்கதா²ஸ்²ச கதி²தவந்த: |
7 They were about twelve men in all.
தே ப்ராயேண த்³வாத³ஸ²ஜநா ஆஸந்|
8 He entered into the synagogue and spoke boldly for a period of three months, reasoning and persuading about the things concerning God’s Kingdom.
பௌலோ ப⁴ஜநப⁴வநம்’ க³த்வா ப்ராயேண மாஸத்ரயம் ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய ராஜ்யஸ்ய விசாரம்’ க்ரு’த்வா லோகாந் ப்ரவர்த்ய ஸாஹஸேந கதா²மகத²யத்|
9 But when some were hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and separated the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.
கிந்து கடி²நாந்த: கரணத்வாத் கியந்தோ ஜநா ந விஸ்²வஸ்ய ஸர்வ்வேஷாம்’ ஸமக்ஷம் ஏதத்பத²ஸ்ய நிந்தா³ம்’ கர்த்தும்’ ப்ரவ்ரு’த்தா: , அத: பௌலஸ்தேஷாம்’ ஸமீபாத் ப்ரஸ்தா²ய ஸி²ஷ்யக³ணம்’ ப்ரு’த²க்க்ரு’த்வா ப்ரத்யஹம்’ துராந்நநாம்ந: கஸ்யசித் ஜநஸ்ய பாட²ஸா²லாயாம்’ விசாரம்’ க்ரு’தவாந்|
10 This continued for two years, so that all those who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
இத்த²ம்’ வத்ஸரத்³வயம்’ க³தம்’ தஸ்மாத்³ ஆஸி²யாதே³ஸ²நிவாஸிந: ஸர்வ்வே யிஹூதீ³யா அந்யதே³ஸீ²யலோகாஸ்²ச ப்ரபோ⁴ ர்யீஸோ²: கதா²ம் அஸ்²ரௌஷந்|
11 God worked special miracles by the hands of Paul,
பௌலேந ச ஈஸ்²வர ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸா²ந்யத்³பு⁴தாநி கர்ம்மாணி க்ரு’தவாந்
12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away from his body to the sick, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out.
யத் பரிதே⁴யே கா³த்ரமார்ஜநவஸ்த்ரே வா தஸ்ய தே³ஹாத் பீடி³தலோகாநாம் ஸமீபம் ஆநீதே தே நிராமயா ஜாதா அபவித்ரா பூ⁴தாஸ்²ச தேப்⁴யோ ப³ஹிர்க³தவந்த: |
13 But some of the itinerant Jews, exorcists, took on themselves to invoke over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, “We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.”
ததா³ தே³ஸா²டநகாரிண: கியந்தோ யிஹூதீ³யா பூ⁴தாபஸாரிணோ பூ⁴தக்³ரஸ்தநோகாநாம்’ ஸந்நிதௌ⁴ ப்ரபே⁴ ர்யீஸோ² ர்நாம ஜப்த்வா வாக்யமித³ம் அவத³ந், யஸ்ய கதா²ம்’ பௌல: ப்ரசாரயதி தஸ்ய யீஸோ² ர்நாம்நா யுஷ்மாந் ஆஜ்ஞாபயாம: |
14 There were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did this.
ஸ்கிவநாம்நோ யிஹூதீ³யாநாம்’ ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகஸ்ய ஸப்தபி⁴: புத்தைஸ்ததா² க்ரு’தே ஸதி
15 The evil spirit answered, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?”
கஸ்²சித்³ அபவித்ரோ பூ⁴த: ப்ரத்யுதி³தவாந், யீஸு²ம்’ ஜாநாமி பௌலஞ்ச பரிசிநோமி கிந்து கே யூயம்’?
16 The man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
இத்யுக்த்வா ஸோபவித்ரபூ⁴தக்³ரஸ்தோ மநுஷ்யோ லம்ப²ம்’ க்ரு’த்வா தேஷாமுபரி பதித்வா ப³லேந தாந் ஜிதவாந், தஸ்மாத்தே நக்³நா: க்ஷதாங்கா³ஸ்²ச ஸந்தஸ்தஸ்மாத்³ கே³ஹாத் பலாயந்த|
17 This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived at Ephesus. Fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
ஸா வாக்³ இபி²ஷநக³ரநிவாஸிநஸம்’ ஸர்வ்வேஷாம்’ யிஹூதீ³யாநாம்’ பி⁴ந்நதே³ஸீ²யாநாம்’ லோகாநாஞ்ச ஸ்²ரவோகோ³சரீபூ⁴தா; தத: ஸர்வ்வே ப⁴யம்’ க³தா: ப்ரபோ⁴ ர்யீஸோ² ர்நாம்நோ யஸோ² (அ)வர்த்³த⁴த|
18 Many also of those who had believed came, confessing and declaring their deeds.
யேஷாமநேகேஷாம்’ லோகாநாம்’ ப்ரதீதிரஜாயத த ஆக³த்ய ஸ்வை: க்ரு’தா: க்ரியா: ப்ரகாஸ²ரூபேணாங்கீ³க்ரு’தவந்த: |
19 Many of those who practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. They counted their price, and found it to be fifty thousand pieces of silver.
ப³ஹவோ மாயாகர்ம்மகாரிண: ஸ்வஸ்வக்³ரந்தா²ந் ஆநீய ராஸீ²க்ரு’த்ய ஸர்வ்வேஷாம்’ ஸமக்ஷம் அதா³ஹயந், ததோ க³ணநாம்’ க்ரு’த்வாபு³த்⁴யந்த பஞ்சாயுதரூப்யமுத்³ராமூல்யபுஸ்தகாநி த³க்³தா⁴நி|
20 So the word of the Lord was growing and becoming mighty.
இத்த²ம்’ ப்ரபோ⁴: கதா² ஸர்வ்வதே³ஸ²ம்’ வ்யாப்ய ப்ரப³லா ஜாதா|
21 Now after these things had ended, Paul determined in the Spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, “After I have been there, I must also see Rome.”
ஸர்வ்வேஷ்வேதேஷு கர்ம்மஸு ஸம்பந்நேஷு ஸத்ஸு பௌலோ மாகித³நியாகா²யாதே³ஸா²ப்⁴யாம்’ யிரூஸா²லமம்’ க³ந்தும்’ மதிம்’ க்ரு’த்வா கதி²தவாந் தத்ஸ்தா²நம்’ யாத்ராயாம்’ க்ரு’தாயாம்’ ஸத்யாம்’ மயா ரோமாநக³ரம்’ த்³ரஷ்டவ்யம்’|
22 Having sent into Macedonia two of those who served him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while.
ஸ்வாநுக³தலோகாநாம்’ தீமதி²யேராஸ்தௌ த்³வௌ ஜநௌ மாகித³நியாதே³ஸ²ம்’ ப்ரதி ப்ரஹித்ய ஸ்வயம் ஆஸி²யாதே³ஸே² கதிபயதி³நாநி ஸ்தி²தவாந்|
23 About that time there arose no small disturbance concerning the Way.
கிந்து தஸ்மிந் ஸமயே மதே(அ)ஸ்மிந் கலஹோ ஜாத: |
24 For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the craftsmen,
தத்காரணமித³ம்’, அர்த்திமீதே³வ்யா ரூப்யமந்தி³ரநிர்ம்மாணேந ஸர்வ்வேஷாம்’ ஸி²ல்பிநாம்’ யதே²ஷ்டலாப⁴ம் அஜநயத் யோ தீ³மீத்ரியநாமா நாடீ³ந்த⁴ம:
25 whom he gathered together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, “Sirs, you know that by this business we have our wealth.
ஸ தாந் தத்கர்ம்மஜீவிந: ஸர்வ்வலோகாம்’ஸ்²ச ஸமாஹூய பா⁴ஷிதவாந் ஹே மஹேச்சா² ஏதேந மந்தி³ரநிர்ம்மாணேநாஸ்மாகம்’ ஜீவிகா ப⁴வதி, ஏதத்³ யூயம்’ வித்த²;
26 You see and hear that not at Ephesus alone, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are no gods that are made with hands.
கிந்து ஹஸ்தநிர்ம்மிதேஸ்²வரா ஈஸ்²வரா நஹி பௌலநாம்நா கேநசிஜ்ஜநேந கதா²மிமாம்’ வ்யாஹ்ரு’த்ய கேவலேபி²ஷநக³ரே நஹி ப்ராயேண ஸர்வ்வஸ்மிந் ஆஸி²யாதே³ஸே² ப்ரவ்ரு’த்திம்’ க்³ராஹயித்வா ப³ஹுலோகாநாம்’ ஸே²முஷீ பராவர்த்திதா, ஏதத்³ யுஷ்மாபி⁴ ர்த்³ரு’ஸ்²யதே ஸ்²ரூயதே ச|
27 Not only is there danger that this our trade come into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be counted as nothing and her majesty destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.”
தேநாஸ்மாகம்’ வாணிஜ்யஸ்ய ஸர்வ்வதா² ஹாநே: ஸம்ப⁴வநம்’ கேவலமிதி நஹி, ஆஸி²யாதே³ஸ²ஸ்தை² ர்வா ஸர்வ்வஜக³த்ஸ்தை² ர்லோகை: பூஜ்யா யார்திமீ மஹாதே³வீ தஸ்யா மந்தி³ரஸ்யாவஜ்ஞாநஸ்ய தஸ்யா ஐஸ்²வர்ய்யஸ்ய நாஸ²ஸ்ய ச ஸம்பா⁴வநா வித்³யதே|
28 When they heard this they were filled with anger, and cried out, saying, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸீ²ம்’ கதா²ம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா தே மஹாக்ரோதா⁴ந்விதா: ஸந்த உச்சை: காரம்’ கதி²தவந்த இபி²ஷீயாநாம் அர்த்திமீ தே³வீ மஹதீ ப⁴வதி|
29 The whole city was filled with confusion, and they rushed with one accord into the theater, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel.
தத: ஸர்வ்வநக³ரம்’ கலஹேந பரிபூர்ணமப⁴வத், தத: பரம்’ தே மாகித³நீயகா³யாரிஸ்தார்க²நாமாநௌ பௌலஸ்ய த்³வௌ ஸஹசரௌ த்⁴ரு’த்வைகசித்தா ரங்க³பூ⁴மிம்’ ஜவேந தா⁴விதவந்த: |
30 When Paul wanted to enter in to the people, the disciples didn’t allow him.
தத: பௌலோ லோகாநாம்’ ஸந்நிதி⁴ம்’ யாதும் உத்³யதவாந் கிந்து ஸி²ஷ்யக³ணஸ்தம்’ வாரிதவாந்|
31 Certain also of the Asiarchs, being his friends, sent to him and begged him not to venture into the theater.
பௌலஸ்யத்மீயா ஆஸி²யாதே³ஸ²ஸ்தா²: கதிபயா: ப்ரதா⁴நலோகாஸ்தஸ்ய ஸமீபம்’ நரமேகம்’ ப்ரேஷ்ய த்வம்’ ரங்க³பூ⁴மிம்’ மாகா³ இதி ந்யவேத³யந்|
32 Some therefore cried one thing, and some another, for the assembly was in confusion. Most of them didn’t know why they had come together.
ததோ நாநாலோகாநாம்’ நாநாகதா²கத²நாத் ஸபா⁴ வ்யாகுலா ஜாதா கிம்’ காரணாத்³ ஏதாவதீ ஜநதாப⁴வத் ஏதத்³ அதி⁴கை ர்லோகை ர்நாஜ்ஞாயி|
33 They brought Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. Alexander beckoned with his hand, and would have made a defense to the people.
தத: பரம்’ ஜநதாமத்⁴யாத்³ யிஹூதீ³யைர்ப³ஹிஷ்க்ரு’த: ஸிகந்த³ரோ ஹஸ்தேந ஸங்கேதம்’ க்ரு’த்வா லோகேப்⁴ய உத்தரம்’ தா³துமுத்³யதவாந்,
34 But when they perceived that he was a Jew, all with one voice for a time of about two hours cried out, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
கிந்து ஸ யிஹூதீ³யலோக இதி நிஸ்²சிதே ஸதி இபி²ஷீயாநாம் அர்த்திமீ தே³வீ மஹதீதி வாக்யம்’ ப்ராயேண பஞ்ச த³ண்டா³ந் யாவத்³ ஏகஸ்வரேண லோகநிவஹை: ப்ரோக்தம்’|
35 When the town clerk had quieted the multitude, he said, “You men of Ephesus, what man is there who doesn’t know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image which fell down from Zeus?
ததோ நக³ராதி⁴பதிஸ்தாந் ஸ்தி²ராந் க்ரு’த்வா கதி²தவாந் ஹே இபி²ஷாயா: ஸர்வ்வே லோகா ஆகர்ணயத, அர்திமீமஹாதே³வ்யா மஹாதே³வாத் பதிதாயாஸ்தத்ப்ரதிமாயாஸ்²ச பூஜநம இபி²ஷநக³ரஸ்தா²: ஸர்வ்வே லோகா: குர்வ்வந்தி, ஏதத் கே ந ஜாநந்தி?
36 Seeing then that these things can’t be denied, you ought to be quiet and to do nothing rash.
தஸ்மாத்³ ஏதத்ப்ரதிகூலம்’ கேபி கத²யிதும்’ ந ஸ²க்நுவந்தி, இதி ஜ்ஞாத்வா யுஷ்மாபி⁴: ஸுஸ்தி²ரத்வேந ஸ்தா²தவ்யம் அவிவிச்ய கிமபி கர்ம்ம ந கர்த்தவ்யஞ்ச|
37 For you have brought these men here, who are neither robbers of temples nor blasphemers of your goddess.
யாந் ஏதாந் மநுஷ்யாந் யூயமத்ர ஸமாநயத தே மந்தி³ரத்³ரவ்யாபஹாரகா யுஷ்மாகம்’ தே³வ்யா நிந்த³காஸ்²ச ந ப⁴வந்தி|
38 If therefore Demetrius and the craftsmen who are with him have a matter against anyone, the courts are open and there are proconsuls. Let them press charges against one another.
யதி³ கஞ்சந ப்ரதி தீ³மீத்ரியஸ்ய தஸ்ய ஸஹாயாநாஞ்ச காசித்³ ஆபத்தி ர்வித்³யதே தர்ஹி ப்ரதிநிதி⁴லோகா விசாரஸ்தா²நஞ்ச ஸந்தி, தே தத் ஸ்தா²நம்’ க³த்வா உத்தரப்ரத்யுத்தரே குர்வ்வந்து|
39 But if you seek anything about other matters, it will be settled in the regular assembly.
கிந்து யுஷ்மாகம்’ காசித³பரா கதா² யதி³ திஷ்ட²தி தர்ஹி நியமிதாயாம்’ ஸபா⁴யாம்’ தஸ்யா நிஷ்பத்தி ர்ப⁴விஷ்யதி|
40 For indeed we are in danger of being accused concerning today’s riot, there being no cause. Concerning it, we wouldn’t be able to give an account of this commotion.”
கிந்த்வேதஸ்ய விரோத⁴ஸ்யோத்தரம்’ யேந தா³தும்’ ஸ²க்நும் ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸ²ஸ்ய கஸ்யசித் காரணஸ்யாபா⁴வாத்³ அத்³யதநக⁴டநாஹேதோ ராஜத்³ரோஹிணாமிவாஸ்மாகம் அபி⁴யோகோ³ ப⁴விஷ்யதீதி ஸ²ங்கா வித்³யதே|
41 When he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
இதி கத²யித்வா ஸ ஸபா⁴ஸ்த²லோகாந் விஸ்ரு’ஷ்டவாந்|
