Acts 10
1 Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,
Es war ein Mann zu Cäsarea, mit Namen Cornelius, ein Hauptmann von der sogenannten italischen Kohorte,
2 a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave gifts for the needy generously to the people, and always prayed to God.
Fromm und gottesfürchtig mit seinem ganzen Hause, der dem Volke viele Wohltaten erwies und stets zu Gott betete.
3 At about the ninth hour of the day, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, “Cornelius!”
Dieser sah in einem Gesichte um die neunte Stunde des Tages offenbarlich einen Engel bei sich eintreten und zu ihm sprechen: Cornelius!
4 He, fastening his eyes on him and being frightened, said, “What is it, Lord?” He said to him, “Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.
Er aber sah ihn an, erschrak und sprach: Was ist es Herr? Er sprach zu ihm: Deine Gebete und Almosen sind hinaufgekommen zum Gedächtnis vor Gott.
5 Now send men to Joppa, and get Simon, who is also called Peter.
Und nun sende Männer nach Joppe und entbiete zu dir Simon, der zubenannt wird Petrus.
6 He is staying with a tanner named Simon, whose house is by the seaside.
Welcher ist zur Herberge bei einem Gerber Simon, dessen Haus am Meere liegt. Der wird dir sagen, was du tun sollst.
7 When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.
Als der Engel, der mit ihm redete, hinwegegegangen war, rief er zwei seiner Knechte und einen gottesfürchtigen Kriegsknecht, von denen, die ihm aufwarteten.
8 Having explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.
Und erzählte ihnen alles und entsandte sie gen Joppe.
9 Now on the next day as they were on their journey and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about noon.
Des anderen Tages, während sie auf dem Wege waren und der Stadt nahten, stieg Petrus hinauf auf den Söller, um zu beten, um die sechste Stunde.
10 He became hungry and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.
Da ward er hungrig und wollte etwas essen; während sie aber zurichteten, fiel er in eine Entzückung,
11 He saw heaven opened and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet let down by four corners on the earth,
Und sah den Himmel aufgetan, und ein Gefäß zu ihm herabsinken, wie ein großes Linnentuch, das an den vier Enden gebunden war und auf den Boden hernieder gelassen ward.
12 in which were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.
Darin waren allerlei vierfüßige Tiere der Erde und Gewild und Kriechtiere und Vögel des Himmels.
13 A voice came to him, “Rise, Peter, kill and eat!”
Und es geschah eine Stimme zu ihm: Stehe auf, Petrus, schlachte und iß.
14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”
Petrus aber sprach: Nimmermehr, Herr! noch nie habe ich etwas Gemeines oder Unreines gegessen.
15 A voice came to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean.”
Und eine Stimme sprach zum andern Mal zu ihm: Was Gott hat rein gemacht, das achte du nicht für gemein.
16 This was done three times, and immediately the thing was received up into heaven.
Dies geschah zu drei Malen, und das Gefäß ward wieder gen Himmel emporgenommen.
17 Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood before the gate,
Als aber Petrus bei sich selbst nachsann, was wohl das Gesichte, das er gesehen, zu bedeuten hätte, siehe, da fragten die, so von Cornelius abgesandt waren, nach dem Hause Simons und standen vor dem Tor.
18 and called and asked whether Simon, who was also called Peter, was lodging there.
Riefen und erkundigten sich, ob Simon, mit dem Zunamen Petrus, allda zur Herberge wäre.
19 While Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men seek you.
Als Petrus immer noch über das Gesichte nachdachte, sprach der Geist zu ihm: Siehe, drei Männer fragen nach dir.
20 But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.”
So mache dich auf, steige hinab, und ziehe mit ihnen, und bedenke nicht lange, denn Ich habe sie gesandt.
21 Peter went down to the men, and said, “Behold, I am he whom you seek. Why have you come?”
Da stieg Petrus hinab zu den Männern, die Cornelius an ihn abgesendet hatte, und sprach: Siehe, ich bin es, nach dem ihr fraget; was ist die Sache, darum ihr hier seid?
22 They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.”
Sie aber sprachen: Der Hauptmann Cornelius, ein gerechter und gottesfürchtiger Mann, der bei allem Volke der Juden ein gutes Zeugnis hat, ward von einem heiligen Engel angewiesen, dich in sein Haus rufen zu lassen, auf daß er Worte von dir höre.
23 So he called them in and provided a place to stay. On the next day Peter arose and went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.
Da rief er sie herein zu sich und bewirtete sie. Des andern Tages zog Petrus mit ihnen, und zwei der Brüder aus Joppe gingen mit ihm.
24 On the next day they entered into Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and his near friends.
Am andern Tag kamen sie nach Cäsarea. Cornelius wartete auf sie und hatte seine Verwandten und vertrauten Freunde zusammengerufen.
25 When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet, and worshiped him.
Als Petrus eintrat, kam ihm Cornelius entgegen, fiel ihm zu Füßen und betete ihn an.
26 But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up! I myself am also a man.”
Petrus aber richtete ihn auf und sprach: Stehe auf! auch ich bin ein Mensch.
27 As he talked with him, he went in and found many gathered together.
Als er sich mit ihm besprochen hatte, trat er ein und fand ihrer viele versammelt.
28 He said to them, “You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn’t call any man unholy or unclean.
Er sprach zu ihnen: Ihr wisset, daß es einem jüdischen Manne nicht erlaubt ist, sich einem Fremden zuzugesellen und Gemeinschaft mit ihm zu haben; aber mir hat Gott gezeigt, daß ich keinen Menschen sollte gemein oder unrein heißen.
29 Therefore I also came without complaint when I was sent for. I ask therefore, why did you send for me?”
Darum bin ich auch unweigerlich gekommen, als man mich beschied; ich frage nun, zu welchem Ende ihr mich beschieden habt?
30 Cornelius said, “Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour, I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing
Da sprach Cornelius: Bis zu dieser Stunde sind es vier Tage, daß ich fastete; und um die neunte Stunde betete ich in meinem Hause, und siehe, da stand ein Mann vor mir in glänzendem Gewand,
31 and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your gifts to the needy are remembered in the sight of God.
Und sprach: Cornelius, dein Gebet ist erhört, und deiner Almosen ist gedacht worden vor Gott.
32 Send therefore to Joppa and summon Simon, who is also called Peter. He is staying in the house of a tanner named Simon, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.’
So sende nun nach Joppe und laß rufen Simon, mit dem Zunamen Petrus. Dieser ist zur Herberge im Hause des Gerbers Simon am Meer; wenn dieser kommt, so wird er dich berichten.
33 Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God.”
Da sandte ich von Stund an zu dir, und du hast wohlgetan, daß du gekommen bist; nun sind wir alle vor Gott hier gegenwärtig, zu hören alles, was dir von Gott ward aufgetragen.
34 Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism;
Da tat Petrus seinen Mund auf und sprach: In Wahrheit erfahre ich nun, daß Gott die Person nicht ansieht,
35 but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.
Sondern unter allem Volk ein jeglicher, der Ihn fürchtet und recht tut, der ist Ihm wohlgefällig.
36 The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ—he is Lord of all—
Das Wort nun, das Er den Söhnen Israels zugesendet hat, indem Er Frieden verkündete durch Jesus Christus:
37 you yourselves know what happened, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
Ihr wisset, was nach der Taufe, die Johannes predigte, durch das ganze jüdische Land geschehen ist, und in Galiläa seinen Anfang genommen hat;
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
Wie Jesus von Nazareth, Den Gott mit dem Heiligen Geist und Wunderkraft gesalbt hat, umhergezogen ist, und hat wohlgetan, und alle gesund gemacht, die von dem Teufel überwältigt waren; denn Gott war mit Ihm.
39 We are witnesses of everything he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem; whom they also killed, hanging him on a tree.
Und wir sind alle Zeugen dessen, was Er im Lande der Juden und in Jerusalem getan hat. Ihn haben sie zum Tode gebracht und an das Kreuz geheftet.
40 God raised him up the third day and gave him to be revealed,
Diesen hat Gott am dritten Tage auferweckt und Ihn lassen offenbar werden,
41 not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
Nicht allem Volk, sondern uns, den Zeugen, die von Gott vorerwählt worden, uns, die wir mit Ihm gegessen und getrunken haben, nachdem Er von den Toten auferstanden war.
42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.
Und Er hat uns geboten, dem Volke zu predigen und bezeugen, daß Er ist von Gott verordnet zum Richter der Lebendigen und der Toten.
43 All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins.”
Für Ihn zeugen alle Propheten, daß durch Seinen Namen jeder, der an Ihn glaubt, Vergebung der Sünden empfangen soll.
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.
Während Petrus noch diese Worte redete, fiel der Heilige Geist auf alle, die das Wort hörten.
45 They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.
Und es entsetzten sich die Gläubigen aus der Beschneidung, die mit Petrus gekommen waren, daß auch auf die Heiden die Gabe des Heiligen Geistes ausgegossen ward.
46 For they heard them speaking in other languages and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,
Denn sie hörten sie mit Zungen reden und Gott lobpreisen. Da nahm Petrus wieder das Wort:
47 “Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us.”
Mag auch jemand das Wasser vorenthalten, daß die nicht getauft werden, die, wie auch wir, den Heiligen Geist empfangen haben?
48 He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.
Und er befahl, sie zu taufen im Namen des Herrn. Sie baten ihn sodann, noch einige Tage zu bleiben.
