1 Thessalonians 5
1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.
EMPERO acerca de los tiempos y de los momentos, no teneis, hermanos, necesidad de que yo os escriba:
2 For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.
Porque vosotros sabeis bien, que el dia del Señor vendrá así como ladron de noche.
3 For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape.
Que cuando dirán, Paz y seguridad, entónces vendrá sobre ellos destruccion de repente, como los dolores á la mujer preñada; y no escaparán.
4 But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief.
Mas vosotros, hermanos, no estais en tinieblas, para que aquel dia os sobrecoja como ladron.
5 You are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,
[Porque] todos vosotros sois hijos de luz, é hijos del dia: no somos de la noche, ni de las tinieblas.
6 so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.
Por tanto, no durmamos como los demás; ántes velemos y seamos sobrios.
7 For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunk are drunk in the night.
Porque los que duermen, de noche duermen; y los que están borrachos, de noche están borrachos.
8 But since we belong to the day, let’s be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
Mas nosotros, que somos [hijos] del dia, estemos sobrios, vestidos de cota de fé, y de caridad, y la esperanza de salud por yelmo.
9 For God didn’t appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Porque no nos ha puesto Dios para ira, sino para alcanzar salud por nuestro Señor Jesu-Cristo;
10 who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
El cual murió por nosotros, para que, ó que velemos, ó que durmamos, vivamos juntamente con él.
11 Therefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do.
Por lo cual consoláos los unos á los otros; y edificáos los unos á los otros, así como lo haceis.
12 But we beg you, brothers, to know those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,
Y os rogamos, hermanos, que reconozcais á los que trabajan entre vosotros, y os presiden en el Señor, y os amonestan:
13 and to respect and honor them in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
Y que los tengais en mucha estima por amor de su obra. Tened paz los unos con los otros.
14 We exhort you, brothers: Admonish the disorderly; encourage the faint-hearted; support the weak; be patient toward all.
Tambien os rogamos, hermanos, que amonesteis á los que andan desordenadamente, que consoleis á los de poco ánimo, que soporteis á los flacos, que seais sufridos para con todos.
15 See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good for one another and for all.
Mirad que ninguno dé á otro mal por mal; ántes seguid lo bueno siempre los unos para con los otros, y para con todos.
16 Always rejoice.
Estad siempre gozosos.
17 Pray without ceasing.
Orad sin cesar.
18 In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.
Dad gracias en todo; porque esta es la voluntad de Dios para con vosotros en Cristo Jesus.
19 Don’t quench the Spirit.
No apagueis el Espíritu.
20 Don’t despise prophecies.
No menosprecieis las profecías.
21 Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good.
Examinadlo todo; retened lo bueno.
22 Abstain from every form of evil.
Apartáos de toda especie de mal.
23 May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Y el Dios de paz os santifique en todo; para que vuestro espíritu, y alma, y cuerpo, sea guardado entero sin reprension para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesu-Cristo.
24 He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it.
Fiel es el que os ha llamado; el cual tambien [lo] hará.
25 Brothers, pray for us.
Hermanos, orad por nosotros.
26 Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
Saludad á todos los hermanos en ósculo santo.
27 I solemnly command you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the holy brothers.
Conjúroos por el Señor, que esta carta sea leida á todos los santos hermanos.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
La gracia de nuestro Señor Jesu-Cristo [sea] con vosotros. Amen.
