1 Samuel 19
1 Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan, Saul’s son, greatly delighted in David.
Saül parla à Jonathas, son fils, et à tous ses serviteurs de faire mourir David. Mais Jonathas, fils de Saül, avait une grande affection pour David.
2 Jonathan told David, saying, “Saul my father seeks to kill you. Now therefore, please take care of yourself in the morning, live in a secret place, and hide yourself.
Et Jonathas informa David en disant: « Saül, mon père, cherche à te faire mourir. Sois donc sur tes gardes demain au matin, tiens-toi à l'écart et cache-toi.
3 I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will talk with my father about you; and if I see anything, I will tell you.”
Moi, je sortirai et je me tiendrai à côté de mon père dans le champ où tu seras; je parlerai de toi à mon père, je verrai ce qu'il dira et je te le ferai savoir. »
4 Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, “Don’t let the king sin against his servant, against David; because he has not sinned against you, and because his works have been very good toward you;
Jonathas parla favorablement de David à Saül, son père; il lui dit: « Que le roi ne pèche pas contre son serviteur David, car il n'a pas péché à ton égard. Ses actions, au contraire, sont toutes pour ton bien:
5 for he put his life in his hand and struck the Philistine, and Yahweh worked a great victory for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?”
il a exposé sa vie, il a frappé le Philistin, et Yahweh a opéré par lui une grande délivrance pour tout Israël. Tu l'as vu, et tu t'en es réjoui; pourquoi te rendrais-tu coupable du sang innocent, en faisant mourir David sans raison? »
6 Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan; and Saul swore, “As Yahweh lives, he shall not be put to death.”
Saül écouta la voix de Jonathas, et Saül fit ce serment: « Yahweh est vivant! David ne sera pas mis à mort. »
7 Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. Then Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as before.
Jonathas appela David et Jonathas lui rapporta toutes ces paroles; puis Jonathas ramena David auprès de Saül, et David se tint en sa présence comme auparavant.
8 There was war again. David went out and fought with the Philistines, and killed them with a great slaughter; and they fled before him.
La guerre ayant recommencé, David sortit contre les Philistins et leur livra bataille; il leur fit éprouver une grande défaite, et ils s'enfuirent devant lui.
9 An evil spirit from Yahweh was on Saul as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand; and David was playing music with his hand.
Alors le mauvais esprit de Yahweh fut sur Saül, pendant qu'il était assis dans sa maison, sa lance à la main; et David jouait de la harpe avec sa main.
10 Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence; and he stuck the spear into the wall. David fled and escaped that night.
Saül chercha à frapper de sa lance David et le mur; mais David s'enfuit de devant Saül, qui frappa la lance contre le mur. David prit la fuite et s'échappa pendant la nuit.
11 Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him and to kill him in the morning. Michal, David’s wife, told him, saying, “If you don’t save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”
Saül envoya des messagers à la maison de David, pour s'assurer de lui et le faire mourir au matin; mais Michol, femme de David, l'en informa, en disant: « Si tu ne t'échappes pas cette nuit, demain tu es mis à mort. »
12 So Michal let David down through the window. He went away, fled, and escaped.
Michol fit descendre David par la fenêtre, et David s'en alla et s'enfuit, et il fut sauvé.
13 Michal took the teraphim and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats’ hair at its head and covered it with clothes.
Michol prit ensuite le théraphim et, l'ayant placé dans le lit, elle mit une peau de chèvre à l'endroit de sa tête, et le couvrit d'un vêtement.
14 When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “He is sick.”
Et lorsque Saül envoya des messagers pour prendre David, elle dit: « Il est malade. »
15 Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, “Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.”
Saül renvoya les messagers pour voir David, en disant: « Apportez-le-moi dans son lit, afin que je le fasse mourir. »
16 When the messengers came in, behold, the teraphim was in the bed, with the pillow of goats’ hair at its head.
Les messagers revinrent et voici que le théraphim était sur le lit avec une peau de chèvre à l'endroit de sa tête.
17 Saul said to Michal, “Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?” Michal answered Saul, “He said to me, ‘Let me go! Why should I kill you?’”
Et Saül dit à Michol: « Pourquoi m'as-tu trompé ainsi, et as-tu laissé aller mon ennemi, pour qu'il fût sauvé? » Michol répondit à Saül: « Il m'a dit: Laisse-moi aller, ou je te tue. »
18 Now David fled and escaped, and came to Samuel at Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. He and Samuel went and lived in Naioth.
C'est ainsi que David prit la fuite et fut sauvé. Il se rendit auprès de Samuel à Rama, et lui raconta tout ce que Saül lui avait fait. Puis il alla avec Samuel demeurer à Naioth.
19 Saul was told, saying, “Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.”
On le fit savoir à Saül, en disant: « Voici que David est à Naioth, en Rama. »
20 Saul sent messengers to seize David; and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, God’s Spirit came on Saul’s messengers, and they also prophesied.
Aussitôt Saül envoya des messagers pour prendre David; ils virent la troupe de prophètes qui prophétisaient, et Samuel était debout, les présidant; et l'Esprit de Dieu fut sur les envoyés de Saül, qui eux aussi prophétisèrent.
21 When Saul was told, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.
On l'annonça à Saül, et il envoya d'autres messagers, et eux aussi prophétisèrent. Pour la troisième fois, Saül envoya des messagers, et eux aussi prophétisèrent.
22 Then he also went to Ramah, and came to the great well that is in Secu: and he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” One said, “Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.”
Alors Saül alla, lui aussi, à Rama. Arrivé à la grande citerne qui est à Socho, il demanda: « Où sont Samuel et David? » On lui répondit: « Voici, ils sont à Naioth en Rama. »
23 He went there to Naioth in Ramah. Then God’s Spirit came on him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.
Et il se dirigea là, vers Naioth en Rama. L'Esprit de Dieu fut aussi sur lui, et il allait et il prophétisait, jusqu'à son arrivée à Naioth en Rama.
24 He also stripped off his clothes. He also prophesied before Samuel and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
Là, ayant aussi ôté ses vêtements, il prophétisa, lui aussi, devant Samuel, et il resta nu par terre tout ce jour-là et toute la nuit. C'est pourquoi on dit: « Saül est-il aussi parmi les prophètes? »
