< 1 Corinthians 8 >

1 Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
Are kꞌu ri jastaq ri tzujtal chikiwach ri e bꞌanom taq tyox. Qonojel qetaꞌm jas ubꞌantajik we riꞌ. Ri etaꞌmabꞌal kuya nimal, are kꞌu ri loqꞌanik kubꞌan che jun chi kakꞌiyik.
2 But if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he doesn’t yet know as he ought to know.
We kꞌu kꞌo jun ri kunaꞌo chi retaꞌm chik ronojel, kꞌamajaꞌ retaꞌm riꞌ ri rajawaxik karetaꞌmaj.
3 But anyone who loves God is known by him.
Ri winaq ri kuloqꞌaj ri Dios etaꞌmatal uwach rumal ri Dios.
4 Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
Are kꞌu we kujtzijon puꞌwiꞌ ri utijik jastaq ri tzujtal chikiwach ri e bꞌanom taq tyox, qetaꞌm chi ri bꞌanom tyox maj kuxik, xuqujeꞌ qetaꞌm chi xa jun ri Dios kꞌolik.
5 For though there are things that are called “gods”, whether in the heavens or on earth—as there are many “gods” and many “lords”—
Pune ri e bꞌanom taq tyox kabꞌix dios chike cho ri uwachulew xuqujeꞌ pa ri kaj (qas ne tzij wi e kꞌo e kꞌi dios xuqujeꞌ ajawxelabꞌ).
6 yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we live through him.
Qetaꞌm uj chi maj chi jun Dios kꞌolik, xaq xwi ri Tataxel puꞌwiꞌ ronojel ri jastaq xuqujeꞌ uj kꞌaslik chuyaꞌik uqꞌij, man kꞌo ta chik jun Ajawxel, xaq xwi Jesucristo, ri yoꞌwinaq ukꞌaslemal ronojel ri kꞌolik xuqujeꞌ xa rumal rech uj kꞌaslik.
7 However, that knowledge isn’t in all men. But some, with consciousness of an idol until now, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
Man konojel ta kꞌut kꞌo ketaꞌmabꞌal puꞌwiꞌ we jastaq riꞌ. E kꞌo jujun kꞌamaninaq chike kakiya kiqꞌij ri e bꞌanom taq tyox, kakitij ri jastaq ri ketaꞌm chi tzujtal chikiwach ri e bꞌanom taq tyox, jeriꞌ ri kichomabꞌal kachꞌulujirik rumal man kꞌo taj kichuqꞌabꞌ.
8 But food will not commend us to God. For neither, if we don’t eat are we the worse, nor if we eat are we the better.
Man are ta ri kaqatijo kabꞌanow chaqe chi kujqaj cho ri Dios xuqujeꞌ man are ta ri jastaq ri kaqatijo kabꞌanow sibꞌalaj utz chaqe, man are ta xuqujeꞌ kabꞌanow itzel chaqe we man kaqatijo.
9 But be careful that by no means does this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to the weak.
Pune jeriꞌ, chichajij iwibꞌ rech man kixux ta topibꞌal aqanaj chike nikꞌaj chik rumal ri jaljoj taq ichomanik.
10 For if a man sees you who have knowledge sitting in an idol’s temple, won’t his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?
Jeriꞌ rumal cher we at kꞌo nim awetaꞌmabꞌal cho jun chik katwaꞌ kꞌu pa ri templo rech jun bꞌanom tyox, katril kꞌu jun ri man kꞌo ta uchuqꞌabꞌ pa ri ukojobꞌal, ¿La man kꞌu katzurutaj urayinik riꞌ rech kutij ri jastaq ri tzujtal chikiwach ri e bꞌanom tyox?
11 And through your knowledge, he who is weak perishes, the brother for whose sake Christ died.
Ri alaxik kꞌut ri man kꞌo ta uchuqꞌabꞌ pa ri ukojobꞌal, ri rumal rech xkam ri Cristo, kel riꞌ pa ri ukojobꞌal rumal ri awetaꞌmabꞌal at.
12 Thus, sinning against the brothers, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.
Are kitaqchiꞌj chi nikꞌaj chubꞌanik jun jastaq ri ketaꞌm aꞌreꞌ chi mak ubꞌanik, che ri Cristo tajin kixmakun wi.
13 Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will eat no meat forever more, that I don’t cause my brother to stumble. (aiōn g165)
Rumal riꞌ, we are ri kintijo kabꞌanow che ri wachalal katzaq pa mak, man kintij ta chi riꞌ ri tiꞌj, rech jeriꞌ man kamakun ta rumal we. (aiōn g165)
