1 Corinthians 7
1 Now concerning the things about which you wrote to me: it is good for a man not to touch a woman.
En cuanto a lo que me escribisteis, es bueno que el hombre no toque a la mujer.
2 But, because of sexual immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.
Pero, a causa de las inmoralidades sexuales, que cada hombre tenga su propia esposa, y que cada mujer tenga su propio marido.
3 Let the husband give his wife the affection owed her, and likewise also the wife her husband.
Que el marido dé a su mujer el afecto que se le debe, y así también la mujer a su marido.
4 The wife doesn’t have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise also the husband doesn’t have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
La mujer no tiene autoridad sobre su propio cuerpo, sino el marido. Así también el marido no tiene autoridad sobre su propio cuerpo, sino la mujer.
5 Don’t deprive one another, unless it is by consent for a season, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer, and may be together again, that Satan doesn’t tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
No os privéis los unos a los otros, a no ser que sea de común acuerdo por un tiempo, para que os dediquéis al ayuno y a la oración, y estéis de nuevo juntos, para que Satanás no os tiente por vuestra falta de dominio propio.
6 But this I say by way of concession, not of commandment.
Pero esto lo digo a modo de concesión, no de mandamiento.
7 Yet I wish that all men were like me. However, each man has his own gift from God, one of this kind, and another of that kind.
Sin embargo, quisiera que todos los hombres fueran como yo. Sin embargo, cada hombre tiene su propio don de Dios, uno de este tipo y otro de aquel.
8 But I say to the unmarried and to widows, it is good for them if they remain even as I am.
Pero a los solteros y a las viudas les digo que es bueno que se queden como yo.
9 But if they don’t have self-control, let them marry. For it’s better to marry than to burn with passion.
Pero si no tienen dominio propio, que se casen. Porque es mejor casarse que arder de pasión.
10 But to the married I command—not I, but the Lord—that the wife not leave her husband
Pero a los casados les ordeno — no yo, sino el Señor — que la mujer no deje a su marido
11 (but if she departs, let her remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband not leave his wife.
(pero si se separa, que se quede soltera, o que se reconcilie con su marido), y que el marido no deje a su mujer.
12 But to the rest I—not the Lord—say, if any brother has an unbelieving wife, and she is content to live with him, let him not leave her.
Pero a los demás, yo — no el Señor — les digo: Si algún hermano tiene una esposa incrédula, y ella se contenta con vivir con él, que no la deje.
13 The woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he is content to live with her, let her not leave her husband.
La mujer que tiene un marido incrédulo, y éste se contenta con vivir con ella, que no deje a su marido.
14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in the husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.
Porque el marido incrédulo se santifica en la mujer, y la mujer incrédula se santifica en el marido. De lo contrario, sus hijos serían impuros, pero ahora son santos.
15 Yet if the unbeliever departs, let there be separation. The brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us in peace.
Pero si el incrédulo se aparta, que haya separación. El hermano o la hermana no están sometidos en tales casos, sino que Dios nos ha llamado en paz.
16 For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?
Pues ¿cómo sabes, esposa, si salvarás a tu marido? ¿O cómo sabes, esposo, si salvarás a tu esposa?
17 Only, as the Lord has distributed to each man, as God has called each, so let him walk. So I command in all the assemblies.
Solamente, como el Señor ha distribuido a cada hombre, como Dios ha llamado a cada uno, así debe caminar. Así lo ordeno en todas las asambleas.
18 Was anyone called having been circumcised? Let him not become uncircumcised. Has anyone been called in uncircumcision? Let him not be circumcised.
¿Se llamó a alguien habiendo sido circuncidado? Que no se vuelva incircunciso. ¿Ha sido llamado alguien en la incircuncisión? Que no se circuncide.
19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is keeping God’s commandments.
La circuncisión no es nada, y la incircuncisión no es nada, pero lo que importa es guardar los mandamientos de Dios.
20 Let each man stay in that calling in which he was called.
Que cada uno permanezca en la vocación a la que fue llamado.
21 Were you called being a bondservant? Don’t let that bother you, but if you get an opportunity to become free, use it.
¿Fuiste llamado siendo siervo? No dejes que eso te moleste, pero si tienes la oportunidad de ser libre, aprovéchala.
22 For he who was called in the Lord being a bondservant is the Lord’s free man. Likewise he who was called being free is Christ’s bondservant.
Porque el que fue llamado en el Señor siendo siervo, es el hombre libre del Señor. Asimismo, el que fue llamado siendo libre es siervo de Cristo.
23 You were bought with a price. Don’t become bondservants of men.
Ustedes fueron comprados por un precio. No os hagáis siervos de los hombres.
24 Brothers, let each man, in whatever condition he was called, stay in that condition with God.
Hermanos, que cada uno, en la condición en que fue llamado, permanezca en esa condición con Dios.
25 Now concerning virgins, I have no commandment from the Lord, but I give my judgment as one who has obtained mercy from the Lord to be trustworthy.
En cuanto a las vírgenes, no tengo ningún mandamiento del Señor, sino que doy mi juicio como alguien que ha obtenido la misericordia del Señor para ser digno de confianza.
26 Therefore I think that because of the distress that is on us, it’s good for a man to remain as he is.
Por lo tanto, creo que a causa de la angustia que nos invade, es bueno que el hombre permanezca como está.
27 Are you bound to a wife? Don’t seek to be freed. Are you free from a wife? Don’t seek a wife.
¿Estás atado a una esposa? No busques liberarte. ¿Estás libre de una esposa? No busques esposa.
28 But if you marry, you have not sinned. If a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Yet such will have oppression in the flesh, and I want to spare you.
Pero si te casas, no has pecado. Si una virgen se casa, no ha pecado. Sin embargo, los tales tendrán opresión en la carne, y yo quiero librarlos.
29 But I say this, brothers: the time is short. From now on, both those who have wives may be as though they had none;
Pero os digo esto, hermanos: el tiempo es corto. A partir de ahora, tanto los que tienen esposa como los que no la tienen;
30 and those who weep, as though they didn’t weep; and those who rejoice, as though they didn’t rejoice; and those who buy, as though they didn’t possess;
y los que lloran, como si no lloraran; y los que se alegran, como si no se alegraran; y los que compran, como si no poseyeran;
31 and those who use the world, as not using it to the fullest. For the mode of this world passes away.
y los que usan el mundo, como si no lo usaran al máximo. Porque el modo de este mundo pasa.
32 But I desire to have you to be free from cares. He who is unmarried is concerned for the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord;
Pero yo quiero que estéis libres de preocupaciones. El que no está casado se preocupa de las cosas del Señor, de cómo puede agradar al Señor;
33 but he who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife.
pero el que está casado se preocupa de las cosas del mundo, de cómo puede agradar a su mujer.
34 There is also a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world—how she may please her husband.
También hay una diferencia entre una esposa y una virgen. La mujer soltera se preocupa por las cosas del Señor, para ser santa tanto en cuerpo como en espíritu. Pero la que está casada se preocupa por las cosas del mundo: por complacer a su marido.
35 This I say for your own benefit, not that I may ensnare you, but for that which is appropriate, and that you may attend to the Lord without distraction.
Esto lo digo por tu propio bien, no para que te atrape, sino por lo que conviene, y para que atiendas al Señor sin distracción.
36 But if any man thinks that he is behaving inappropriately toward his virgin, if she is past the flower of her age, and if need so requires, let him do what he desires. He doesn’t sin. Let them marry.
Pero si algún hombre piensa que se comporta de manera inapropiada con su virgen, si ella ha pasado la flor de la edad, y si la necesidad lo requiere, que haga lo que quiera. No peca. Que se casen.
37 But he who stands steadfast in his heart, having no urgency, but has power over his own will, and has determined in his own heart to keep his own virgin, does well.
Pero el que se mantiene firme en su corazón, sin tener urgencia, sino que tiene poder sobre su propia voluntad, y ha decidido en su propio corazón conservar su propia virgen, hace bien.
38 So then both he who gives his own virgin in marriage does well, and he who doesn’t give her in marriage does better.
Así pues, tanto el que da su propia virgen en matrimonio hace bien, como el que no la da en matrimonio hace mejor.
39 A wife is bound by law for as long as her husband lives; but if the husband is dead, she is free to be married to whomever she desires, only in the Lord.
La mujer está obligada por la ley mientras viva su marido; pero si el marido ha muerto, es libre de casarse con quien quiera, sólo en el Señor.
40 But she is happier if she stays as she is, in my judgment, and I think that I also have God’s Spirit.
Pero ella es más feliz si se queda como está, a mi juicio, y creo que también tengo el Espíritu de Dios.
