1 Chronicles 20
1 At the time of the return of the year, at the time when kings go out, Joab led out the army and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. Joab struck Rabbah, and overthrew it.
Et à l'époque du retour de l'année, à l'époque de la mise en campagne des rois, Joab conduisit la force armée, et ravagea le pays des Ammonites et vint mettre le siège devant Rabba. Cependant David resta à Jérusalem. Et Joab vint à bout de Rabba et la détruisit.
2 David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it. It was set on David’s head, and he brought very much plunder out of the city.
Et David prit la couronne de leur roi de dessus sa tête, et la trouva pesant un talent d'or et garnie de pierres précieuses, et il la posa sur sa propre tête, et il tira dehors le butin de la ville en immense quantité.
3 He brought out the people who were in it, and had them cut with saws, with iron picks, and with axes. David did so to all the cities of the children of Ammon. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
Et il la fit évacuer par le peuple qui l'habitait, et les hacha avec des scies et des traîneaux ferrés et des cognées. Et David en fit autant à toutes les villes des Ammonites. Puis David avec tout son monde revint à Jérusalem.
4 After this, war arose at Gezer with the Philistines. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, of the sons of the giant; and they were subdued.
Et dans la suite il y eut hostilité à Gézer avec les Philistins. Alors Sibkaï, de Husta, battit Sippaï, l'un des enfants nés à Rapha, et les Philistins furent abaissés.
5 Again there was war with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
Et il y eut encore hostilité avec les Philistins. Alors Elchanan, fils de Jaïs, battit Lachemi, frère de Goliath, de Gath. Or la hampe de sa lance était comme une ensuble de tisserand.
6 There was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had twenty-four fingers and toes, six on each hand and six on each foot; and he also was born to the giant.
Et il y eut de nouveau hostilité à Gath. Là était un homme de haute stature, qui avait six doigts et six orteils, vingt-quatre. Lui aussi était des enfants nés à Rapha.
7 When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David’s brother, killed him.
Et il défia Israël. Et Jonathan, fils de Simea, frère de David, le battit.
8 These were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
Ces hommes étaient nés à Rapha à Gath, et ils périrent par la main de David et par la main de ses serviteurs.
