< Psalms 78 >

1 A contemplation by Asaph. Hear my teaching, my people. Turn your ears to the words of my mouth.
Asaf dwom. Ao me nkurɔfoɔ, montie me nkyerɛkyerɛ; monyɛ aso mma mʼanomu nsɛm.
2 I will open my mouth in a parable. I will utter dark sayings of old,
Mɛkasa wɔ abɛbuo mu, mɛka ahintasɛm, teteete nneɛma no,
3 which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
nneɛma a yɛate na yɛahunu; nneɛma a yɛn agyanom aka ho asɛm akyerɛ yɛn.
4 We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, his strength, and his wondrous deeds that he has done.
Yɛremfa nkame wɔn mma; yɛbɛka akyerɛ nkyirimma; Awurade nneyɛɛ a ɛfata nkamfo no, ne tumi ne anwanwadeɛ a wayɛ no.
5 For he established a covenant in Jacob, and appointed a teaching in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;
Ɔyɛɛ ahyɛdeɛ maa Yakob na ɔyɛɛ mmara wɔ Israel, deɛ ɔhyɛɛ yɛn nananom sɛ wɔnkyerɛ wɔn mma,
6 that the generation to come might know, even the children who should be born; who should arise and tell their children,
sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ a, nkyirimma bɛsua mpo mmɔfra a wɔnnya nwoo wɔn, na wɔn nso akyerɛkyerɛ wɔn mma.
7 that they might set their hope in God, and not forget God’s deeds, but keep his commandments,
Afei wɔde wɔn ho bɛto Onyankopɔn so, na wɔn werɛ remfiri ne nneyɛɛ, na wɔbɛdi nʼahyɛdeɛ so.
8 and might not be as their fathers— a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that didn’t make their hearts loyal, whose spirit was not steadfast with God.
Wɔrenyɛ sɛ wɔn nananom, a na wɔyɛ asoɔdenfoɔ ne atuatefoɔ, wɔn a wɔn akoma mu wɔnni Onyankopɔn nokorɛ na woyɛ honhom mu atorofoɔ ma noɔ no.
9 The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
Ɛwom sɛ na Efraim mmarima kurakura agyan, nanso ɔko da no, wɔdwaneeɛ;
10 They didn’t keep God’s covenant, and refused to walk in his law.
Wɔanni Onyankopɔn apam no so wɔampɛ sɛ wɔdi ne mmara no so.
11 They forgot his doings, his wondrous deeds that he had shown them.
Wɔn werɛ firii deɛ wayɛ, anwanwadeɛ a wayɛ akyerɛ wɔn no.
12 He did marvellous things in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
Ɔyɛɛ anwanwadeɛ wɔ wɔn nananom anim wɔ Soan mantam a ɛwɔ Misraim asase so.
13 He split the sea, and caused them to pass through. He made the waters stand as a heap.
Ɔkyɛɛ ɛpo mu na ɔde wɔn faa mu. Ɔmaa nsuo no gyinaa sɛ afasuo.
14 In the daytime he also led them with a cloud, and all night with a light of fire.
Ɔde omununkum dii wɔn anim awia na ɔde ogyadum dii wɔn anim anadwo nyinaa.
15 He split rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink abundantly as out of the depths.
Ɔpaee ɔbotan mu wɔ ɛserɛ so, na ɔmaa wɔn nsuo a ɛdɔɔso sɛ ɛpo;
16 He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
Ɔmaa asutire firii abotan mu na ɔmaa nsuo tenee sɛ nsubɔntene.
17 Yet they still went on to sin against him, to rebel against the Most High in the desert.
Nanso, wɔkɔɔ so yɛɛ bɔne tiaa no, wɔsɔre tiaa Ɔsorosoroni no wɔ ɛserɛ no so.
18 They tempted God in their heart by asking food according to their desire.
Wɔboapa sɔɔ Onyankopɔn hwɛeɛ; wɔbisaa aduane a wɔpɛ.
19 Yes, they spoke against God. They said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
Wɔkasa tiaa Onyankopɔn sɛ, “Onyankopɔn bɛtumi ato ɛpono wɔ ɛserɛ so anaa?
20 Behold, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide meat for his people?”
Ɔde adeɛ bɔɔ ɔbotan mu no, nsuo to firi mu baeɛ, na nsuwa bebree tenee hɔ. Na ɔbɛtumi ama yɛn aduane nso? Ɔbɛtumi ama ne nkurɔfoɔ ɛnam anaa?”
21 Therefore the LORD heard, and was angry. A fire was kindled against Jacob, anger also went up against Israel,
Ɛberɛ a Awurade tee deɛ wɔreka no, ne bo fuu yie; ne ogya bɛguu Yakob so, na nʼabufuhyeɛ sɔre tiaa Israel,
22 because they didn’t believe in God, and didn’t trust in his salvation.
ɛfiri sɛ, na wɔnni Onyankopɔn mu gyidie anaasɛ ne nkwagyeɛ mu ahotosoɔ.
23 Yet he commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven.
Nanso, ɔkasa kyerɛɛ ɔsoro ɔhyɛ so; na ɔbuee ɔsorosoro apono.
24 He rained down manna on them to eat, and gave them food from the sky.
Ɔtɔɔ mana firi soro maa nnipa no sɛ wonni, ɔmaa wɔn ɔsoro aduane.
25 Man ate the bread of angels. He sent them food to the full.
Nnipa dii abɔfoɔ aduane; ɔmaa wɔn aduane a wɔbɛtumi adi nyinaa.
26 He caused the east wind to blow in the sky. By his power he guided the south wind.
Ɔmaa apueeɛ mframa bɔ firii sorosoro, na ɔde ne tumi bɔɔ atɔeɛ mframa.
27 He also rained meat on them as the dust, winged birds as the sand of the seas.
Ɔtoo ɛnam sɛ mfuturo guu wɔn so, nnomaa a wɔtu bebree sɛ mpoano anwea.
28 He let them fall in the middle of their camp, around their habitations.
Ɔma wɔbaa fam kɔɔ wɔn atenaeɛ, ne wɔn ntomadan ho nyinaa.
29 So they ate, and were well filled. He gave them their own desire.
Wɔdidi maa aduane no boroo wɔn so ɛfiri sɛ ɔmaa wɔn deɛ wɔhwehwɛ.
30 They didn’t turn from their cravings. Their food was yet in their mouths,
Nanso ansa na wɔbɛfiri aduane a wɔhwehwɛeɛ no ho, ɛberɛ a ɛhyehyɛ wɔn anomu mpo no,
31 when the anger of God went up against them, killed some of their strongest, and struck down the young men of Israel.
Onyankopɔn abufuo sɔree wɔn so; ɔkum ahoɔdenfoɔ a wɔwɔ wɔn mu twitwaa Israel mmeranteɛ guiɛ.
32 For all this they still sinned, and didn’t believe in his wondrous works.
Yeinom nyinaa akyi, wɔkɔɔ so yɛɛ bɔne; nʼanwanwadeɛ akyi no, wɔannye anni.
33 Therefore he consumed their days in vanity, and their years in terror.
Enti, ɔtwaa wɔn nna so te sɛ ahuro yɛɛ wɔn mfeɛ awieeɛ huhuuhu.
34 When he killed them, then they enquired after him. They returned and sought God earnestly.
Ɛberɛ biara a Onyankopɔn bɛkum wɔn no, wɔhwehwɛɛ no, na wɔpere wɔn ho sane baa ne nkyɛn.
35 They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God, their redeemer.
Wɔkaee sɛ Onyankopɔn yɛ wɔn botan, sɛ Ɔsorosoro Onyankopɔn no yɛ wɔn Gyefoɔ.
36 But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue.
Nanso, wɔde wɔn ano bɛdaadaa no, na wɔde wɔn tɛkrɛma twaa atorɔ kyerɛɛ no;
37 For their heart was not right with him, neither were they faithful in his covenant.
wɔn akoma anni no nokorɛ, na wɔanni nʼapam no so.
38 But he, being merciful, forgave iniquity, and didn’t destroy them. Yes, many times he turned his anger away, and didn’t stir up all his wrath.
Nanso na ɔyɛ ahummɔborɔ; ɔde wɔn amumuyɛ kyɛɛ wɔn a wansɛe wɔn. Mpɛn bebree ɔtwentwɛnee nʼabufuo so na wanhwie nʼabufuhyeɛ nyinaa.
39 He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passes away, and doesn’t come again.
Ɔkaee sɛ wɔyɛ ɔhonam ara kwa, mframa bi a ɛbɔ twam na ɛnsane nʼakyi.
40 How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, and grieved him in the desert!
Mpɛn ahe na wɔansɔre antia no wɔ ɛserɛ no so hɔ, na mpɛn ahe na wɔamma ne werɛ anho wɔ asase wesee no so?
41 They turned again and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
Wɔsɔɔ Onyankopɔn hwɛeɛ ɛberɛ biara; na wɔyii Israel Ɔkronkronni no abufuo.
42 They didn’t remember his hand, nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary;
Wɔn werɛ firii ne tumi no, ɛda a ɔgyee wɔn firii wɔn nhyɛsofoɔ nsam no,
43 how he set his signs in Egypt, his wonders in the field of Zoan,
ɛda a ɔyɛɛ nsɛnkyerɛnneɛ nwanwasoɔ wɔ Misraim no ne nʼanwanwadeɛ wɔ Soan mantam mu no.
44 he turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, so that they could not drink.
Ɔmaa wɔn nsubɔntene danee mogya; wɔantumi annom wɔn asutene mu nsuo.
45 He sent amongst them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
Ɔmaa nwansenadɔm baa wɔn so bɛhaa wɔn na mponkyerɛne nso bɛsɛee wɔn asase.
46 He also gave their increase to the caterpillar, and their labour to the locust.
Ɔmaa mmɛbɛ bɛdii wɔn mfuo so aduane na ɔde wɔn mfudeɛ nso maa ntutummɛ.
47 He destroyed their vines with hail, their sycamore fig trees with frost.
Ɔde asukɔtweaa sɛee wɔn bobe na ɔde nsukyeneeɛ sɛee wɔn ankye nnua.
48 He also gave over their livestock to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
Ɔde sukyerɛmma kumm wɔn anantwie ɔde anyinam kumm wɔn nyɛmmoa.
49 He threw on them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, indignation, and trouble, and a band of angels of evil.
Ɔhwiee nʼabufuhyeɛ guu wɔn so, abufuo, anibereɛ ne ahohia; abɔfoɔ asɛefoɔ kuo no.
50 He made a path for his anger. He didn’t spare their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence,
Ɔbɔɔ ɛkwan maa nʼabufuo; na wamfa wɔn nkwa ankyɛre wɔn mmom ɔde wɔn maa ɔyaredɔm.
51 and struck all the firstborn in Egypt, the chief of their strength in the tents of Ham.
Ɔkunkumm Misraimfoɔ mmakan nyinaa, Ham ntomadan mu nnipa mu abakan.
52 But he led out his own people like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
Nanso ɔyii ne nkurɔfoɔ firii mu sɛ nnwankuo; ɔdii wɔn anim sɛ nnwan wɔ ɛserɛ no so.
53 He led them safely, so that they weren’t afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
Ɔdii wɔn anim dwoodwoo, enti wɔansuro; nanso wɔn atamfoɔ deɛ, ɛpo asorɔkye bu faa wɔn so.
54 He brought them to the border of his sanctuary, to this mountain, which his right hand had taken.
Sei na ɔyɛ de wɔn baa nʼasase kronkron no ahyeɛ so, bepɔ asase a ɔde ne nsa nifa gyeeɛ no.
55 He also drove out the nations before them, allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
Ɔpamoo amanaman a wɔwɔ wɔn anim no na ɔkyekyɛɛ wɔn nsase no mu maa wɔn sɛ wɔn agyapadeɛ; ɔbɔɔ Israel mmusuakuo no atenaseɛ wɔ wɔn afie mu.
56 Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, and didn’t keep his testimonies,
Nanso wɔsɔɔ Onyankopɔn hwɛeɛ na wɔsɔre tiaa Ɔsorosoroni no; na wɔanni ne mmara so.
57 but turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers. They were twisted like a deceitful bow.
Wɔyɛɛ sɛ wɔn agyanom, wɔanni nokorɛ na wɔannya gyidie, ahotosoɔ nni wɔn mu, na wɔte sɛ agyan a asɛe.
58 For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their engraved images.
Wɔde wɔn sorɔnsorɔmmea hyɛɛ no abufuo na wɔn ahoni maa ne ninkuntwe mu yɛɛ den.
59 When God heard this, he was angry, and greatly abhorred Israel,
Onyankopɔn tee wɔn nka no, ne bo fuiɛ; na ɔpoo Israel korakora.
60 so that he abandoned the tent of Shiloh, the tent which he placed amongst men,
Ɔgyaa nʼatenaeɛ a ɛwɔ Silo no hɔ ntomadan a wasi wɔ nnipa mu no.
61 and delivered his strength into captivity, his glory into the adversary’s hand.
Ɔde Apam Adaka a ɛyɛ ne tumi no kɔɔ nnommumfa mu, nʼanimuonyam kɔɔ atamfoɔ nsam.
62 He also gave his people over to the sword, and was angry with his inheritance.
Ɔde ne nkurɔfoɔ maa akofena; ne bo fuu nʼagyapadeɛ yie.
63 Fire devoured their young men. Their virgins had no wedding song.
Egya hyee wɔn mmeranteɛ kumm wɔn, na wɔn mmabaawa annya ayeforɔhyia dwom anto;
64 Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows couldn’t weep.
Wɔn asɔfoɔ wuwuu akofena ano, na wɔn akunafoɔ antumi ansu.
65 Then the Lord awakened as one out of sleep, like a mighty man who shouts by reason of wine.
Afei Awurade sɔree sɛdeɛ ɔfiri nna mu no, sɛdeɛ ɔbarima a waboro nsã nyane firi nnahɔɔ mu no.
66 He struck his adversaries backward. He put them to a perpetual reproach.
Ɔbobɔɔ nʼatamfoɔ ma wɔdwane kɔɔ wɔn akyi; ɔhyɛɛ wɔn aniwuo afebɔɔ.
67 Moreover he rejected the tent of Joseph, and didn’t choose the tribe of Ephraim,
Afei ɔpoo Yosef ntomadan no, na wamfa Efraim abusuakuo no nso;
68 But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion which he loved.
Na mmom, ɔfaa Yuda abusuakuo no, Bepɔ Sion a ɔdɔ noɔ no.
69 He built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he has established forever.
Ɔsii ne kronkronbea te sɛ sorɔnsorɔmmea, te sɛ asase a ɛtim hɔ daa.
70 He also chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds;
Ɔyii ne ɔsomfoɔ Dawid; ɔfrɛɛ no firii nnwammuo mu
71 from following the ewes that have their young, he brought him to be the shepherd of Jacob, his people, and Israel, his inheritance.
firii nnwan akyiridie, na ɔde no baeɛ sɛ ɔmmɛyɛ odwanhwɛfoɔ mma ne nkurɔfoɔ Yakob, mma Israel a wɔyɛ nʼagyapadeɛ.
72 So he was their shepherd according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.
Na Dawid de akoma pa hwɛɛ wɔn so na ɔde ne nimdeɛ dii wɔn anim.
