2 Chronicles 26
1 All the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.
Então todo o povo tomou a Uzias, que era da idade de dezeseis anos, e o fizeram rei em lugar de seu pai Amasias.
2 He built Eloth and restored it to Judah. After that the king slept with his fathers.
Este edificou a Elod, e a restituiu a Judá, depois que o rei adormeceu com seus pais.
3 Uzziah was sixteen years old when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jechiliah, of Jerusalem.
Era Uzias da idade de dezeseis anos quando começou a reinar, e cincoênta e cinco anos reinou em Jerusalém: e era o nome de sua mãe Jecholia, de Jerusalém.
4 He did that which was right in the LORD’s eyes, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.
E fez o que era reto aos olhos do Senhor; conforme a tudo o que fizera Amasias seu pai.
5 He set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the vision of God; and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him prosper.
Porque deu-se a buscar a Deus nos dias de Zacarias, entendido nas visões de Deus: e nos dias em que buscou ao Senhor Deus o fez prosperar.
6 He went out and fought against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the country of Ashdod, and amongst the Philistines.
Porque saiu, e guerreou contra os philisteus, e quebrou o muro de Gath, e o muro de Jabne, e o muro de Asdod: e edificou cidades em Asdod, e entre os philisteus.
7 God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who lived in Gur Baal, and the Meunim.
E Deus o ajudou contra os philisteus e contra os arabios que habitavam em Gur-baal, e contra os meunitas.
8 The Ammonites gave tribute to Uzziah. His name spread abroad even to the entrance of Egypt, for he grew exceedingly strong.
E os ammonitas deram presentes a Uzias: e o seu renome foi espalhado até à entrada do Egito, porque se fortificou altamente.
9 Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.
Também Uzias edificou torres em Jerusalém, à porta da esquina, e à porta do vale, e aos ângulos, e as fortificou.
10 He built towers in the wilderness, and dug out many cisterns, for he had much livestock, both in the lowlands and in the plains. He had farmers and vineyard keepers in the mountains and in the fruitful fields, for he loved farming.
Também edificou torres no deserto, e cavou muitos poços; porque tinha muito gado, tanto nos vales como nas campinas; lavradores e vinhateiros, nos montes e nos campos férteis; porque era amigo da agricultura.
11 Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.
Tinha também Uzias um exército de homens destros na guerra, que saiam ao exército em tropas, segundo o número da sua mostra, por mão de Jeiel, chanceler, e Maaseias, oficial, debaixo da mão d'Hananias, um dos príncipes do rei.
12 The whole number of the heads of fathers’ households, even the mighty men of valour, was two thousand and six hundred.
Todo o número dos chefes dos pais, varões valentes, era de dois mil e seiscentos.
13 Under their hand was an army, three hundred and seven thousand and five hundred, who made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
E debaixo das suas ordens havia um exército guerreiro de trezentos e sete mil e quinhentos homens, que faziam a guerra com força belicosa, para ajudar o rei contra os inimigos.
14 Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the army, shields, spears, helmets, coats of mail, bows, and stones for slinging.
E preparou-lhes Uzias, para todo o exército, escudos, e lanças, e capacetes, e couraças e arcos; e até fundas para atirar pedras.
15 In Jerusalem, he made devices, invented by skilful men, to be on the towers and on the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. His name spread far abroad, because he was marvellously helped until he was strong.
Também fez em Jerusalém máquinas da invenção de engenheiros, que estivessem nas torres e nos cantos, para atirarem flechas e grandes pedras: e voou a sua fama até muito longe; porque foi maravilhosamente ajudado, até que se fortificou.
16 But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly and he trespassed against the LORD his God, for he went into the LORD’s temple to burn incense on the altar of incense.
Mas, havendo-se já fortificado, exaltou-se o seu coração até se corromper: e transgrediu contra o Senhor, seu Deus, porque entrou no templo do Senhor para queimar incenso no altar do incenso.
17 Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of the LORD, who were valiant men.
Porém o sacerdote Azarias entrou após ele, e com ele oitenta sacerdotes do Senhor, varões valentes.
18 They resisted Uzziah the king, and said to him, “It isn’t for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have trespassed. It will not be for your honour from the LORD God.”
E resistiram ao rei Uzias, e lhe disseram: A ti, Uzias, não compete queimar incenso perante o Senhor, mas aos sacerdotes, filhos de Aarão, que são consagrados para queimar incenso; sai do santuário, porque transgrediste; e não será isto para honra tua da parte do Senhor Deus
19 Then Uzziah was angry. He had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke out on his forehead before the priests in the LORD’s house, beside the altar of incense.
Então Uzias se indignou: e tinha o incensário na sua mão para queimar incenso: indignando-se ele pois contra os sacerdotes, a lepra lhe saiu à testa perante os sacerdotes, na casa do Senhor, junto ao altar do incenso;
20 Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead; and they thrust him out quickly from there. Indeed, he himself also hurried to go out, because the LORD had struck him.
Então o sumo sacerdote Azarias olhou para ele, como também todos os sacerdotes, e eis que já estava leproso na sua testa, e apressuradamente o lançaram fora: e até ele mesmo se deu pressa a sair, visto que o Senhor o ferira.
21 Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the LORD’s house. Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
Assim ficou leproso o rei Uzias até ao dia da sua morte: e morou, por ser leproso, numa casa separada, porque foi excluido da casa do Senhor: e Jothão, seu filho, tinha o cargo da casa do rei, julgando o povo da terra.
22 Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, wrote.
Quanto ao mais dos sucessos d'Uzias, tanto os primeiros como os derradeiros, o profeta Isaias, filho d'Amós, o escreveu.
23 So Uzziah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings, for they said, “He is a leper.” Jotham his son reigned in his place.
E dormiu Uzias com seus pais, e o sepultaram com seus pais no campo do sepulcro que era dos reis; porque disseram: Leproso é. E Jothão, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
