Mark 14
1 It was now two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread, and the High Priests and Scribes were bent on finding how to seize Him by stratagem and put Him to death.
La fête de la Pâque et des pains sans levain devait avoir lieu deux jours après; et les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes cherchaient comment ils pourraient s'emparer de Jésus par ruse et le faire mourir.
2 But they said, "Not on the Festival-day, for fear there should be a riot among the people."
Car ils disaient: Que ce ne soit pas pendant la fête, de peur qu'il n'y ait du tumulte parmi le peuple.
3 Now when He was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the Leper, while He was at table, there came a woman with a jar of pure, sweet-scented ointment very costly: she broke the jar and poured the ointment over His head.
Jésus se trouvait à Béthanie, dans la maison de Simon, le lépreux. Pendant qu'il était à table, une femme entra, portant un vase d'albâtre, plein d'une huile de nard pur, d'un grand prix. Ayant brisé le vase, elle répandit le parfum sur la tête de Jésus.
4 But there were some who said indignantly among themselves, "Why has the ointment been thus wasted?
Quelques-uns s'en indignaient entre eux et disaient: Pourquoi perdre ainsi ce parfum?
5 For that ointment might have been sold for fifteen pounds or more, and the money have been given to the poor." And they were exceedingly angry with her.
Car on pouvait le vendre plus de trois cents deniers et les donner aux pauvres. Ainsi ils murmuraient contre elle.
6 But Jesus said, "Leave her alone: why are you troubling her? She has done a most gracious act towards me.
Mais Jésus dit: Laissez-la; pourquoi lui faites-vous de la peine? Elle a fait une bonne action à mon égard.
7 For you always have the poor among you, and whenever you choose you can do acts of kindness to them; but me you have not always.
Car vous avez toujours les pauvres avec vous, et, quand vous le voulez, vous pouvez leur faire du bien; mais moi, vous ne m'avez pas toujours.
8 What she could she did: she has perfumed my body in preparation for my burial.
Elle a fait ce qui était en son pouvoir; elle a d'avance oint mon corps pour ma sépulture.
9 And I solemnly tell you that wherever in the whole world the Good News shall be proclaimed, this which she has done shall also be told in remembrance of her."
En vérité, je vous le dis, partout où cet Évangile sera prêché, dans le monde entier, ce qu'elle a fait sera aussi raconté en mémoire d'elle.
10 But Judas Iscariot, already mentioned as one of the Twelve, went to the High Priests to betray Jesus to them.
Alors Judas Iscariote, l'un des Douze, alla vers les principaux sacrificateurs pour leur livrer Jésus.
11 They gladly listened to his proposal, and promised to give him a sum of money. So he looked out for an opportunity to betray Him.
Ils l'écoutèrent avec joie et lui promirent de lui donner de l'argent; et Judas cherchait, une occasion favorable pour le livrer.
12 On the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread--the day for killing the Passover lamb--His disciples asked Him, "Where shall we go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?"
Le premier jour des pains sans levain, où l'on immolait la Pâque, les disciples dirent à Jésus: Où veux-tu que nous allions te préparer le repas de la Pâque?
13 So He sent two of His disciples with instructions, saying, "Go into the city, and you will meet a man carrying a pitcher of water: follow him,
Il envoya deux de ses disciples et leur dit: Allez à la ville. Vous rencontrerez un homme portant une cruche d'eau; suivez-le,
14 and whatever house he enters, tell the master of the house, 'The Rabbi asks, Where is my room where I can eat the Passover with my disciples?'
et là où il entrera, vous direz au maître de la maison: Le Maître dit: Où est la salle dans laquelle je mangerai la Pâque avec mes disciples?
15 Then he will himself show you a large room upstairs, ready furnished: there make preparation for us."
Il vous montrera lui-même une grande chambre haute, meublée et toute prête; préparez-nous là ce qu'il faut.
16 So the disciples went out and came to the city, and found everything just as He had told them; and they got the Passover ready.
Les disciples partirent donc et allèrent à la ville; ils trouvèrent les choses comme Jésus le leur avait dit, et ils préparèrent la Pâque.
17 When it was evening, He came with the Twelve.
Le soir, il vint avec les Douze.
18 And while they were at table Jesus said, "I solemnly tell you that one of you will betray me--one who is eating with me."
Et comme ils étaient à table et qu'ils mangeaient, Jésus dit: En vérité, je vous le déclare, l'un de vous, qui mange avec moi, me trahira.
19 They were filled with sorrow, and began asking Him, one by one, "Not I, is it?"
Alors ils devinrent tout tristes, et ils lui dirent, l'un après l'autre: Est-ce moi?
20 "It is one of the Twelve," He replied; "he who is dipping his fingers in the dish with me.
Il leur répondit: C'est l'un des Douze, celui qui met la main au plat avec moi.
21 For the Son of Man is going His way as it is written about Him; but alas for the man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It had been a happy thing for that man, had he never been born."
Le Fils de l'homme s'en va, suivant ce qui a été écrit à son sujet; mais malheur à l'homme par qui le Fils de l'homme est trahi! Mieux vaudrait pour cet homme-là qu'il ne fût jamais né.
22 Also during the meal He took a Passover biscuit, blessed it, and broke it. He then gave it to them, saying, "Take this, it is my body."
Pendant qu'ils mangeaient, Jésus prit du pain; et, après avoir rendu grâces, il le rompit, le leur donna, et il dit: Prenez, ceci est mon corps.
23 Then He took the cup, gave thanks, and handed it to them, and they all of them drank from it.
Ayant aussi pris la coupe et rendu grâces, il la leur donna, et ils en burent tous.
24 "This is my blood," He said, "which is to be poured out on behalf of many--the blood which makes the Covenant sure.
Puis il leur dit: Ceci est mon sang, le sang de l'alliance, qui est répandu pour plusieurs.
25 I solemnly tell you that never again will I taste the produce of the vine till I shall drink the new wine in the Kingdom of God."
En vérité, je vous le déclare, je ne boirai plus de ce fruit de la vigne, jusqu'au jour où je le boirai nouveau dans le royaume de Dieu.
26 After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Après avoir chanté les psaumes, ils sortirent pour aller à la montagne des Oliviers.
27 Then said Jesus to them, "All of you are about to stumble and fall, for it is written, 'I will strike down the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered in all directions.'
Et Jésus leur dit: Vous allez tous avoir une occasion de chute; car il est écrit: «Je frapperai le berger, et les brebis seront dispersées.»
28 But after I have risen to life again I will go before you into Galilee."
Mais, après que je serai ressuscité, je vous précéderai en Galilée.
29 "All may stumble and fall," said Peter, "yet I never will."
Pierre lui dit: Quand tu serais pour tous une occasion de chute, tu ne le seras jamais pour moi.
30 "I solemnly tell you," replied Jesus, "that to-day--this night--before the cock crows twice, you yourself will three times disown me."
Jésus lui répondit: En vérité, je te déclare que toi, aujourd'hui, cette nuit même, avant que le coq ait chanté deux fois, tu me renieras trois fois.
31 "Even if I must die with you," declared Peter again and again, "I will never disown you." In like manner protested also all the disciples.
Mais Pierre disait encore plus fortement: Quand même il me faudrait mourir avec toi, je ne te renierai point. Et tous les autres disaient la même chose.
32 So they came to a place called Gethsemane. There He said to His disciples, "Sit down here till I have prayed."
Ils allèrent ensuite dans un lieu appelé Gethsémané. Et Jésus dit à ses disciples: Asseyez-vous ici, jusqu'à ce que j'aie prié.
33 Then He took with Him Peter and James and John, and began to be full of terror and distress,
Alors il prit avec lui Pierre, Jacques et Jean, et il commença à être saisi de frayeur et à être étreint par l'angoisse.
34 and He said to them, "My heart is oppressed with anguish to the very point of death: wait here and keep awake."
Il leur dit: Mon âme est triste jusqu'à la mort; demeurez ici et veillez.
35 Going forward a short distance He threw Himself upon His face and prayed repeatedly that, if it was possible, He might be spared that time of agony;
Puis, étant allé un peu plus loin, il se prosternait contre terre et priait, demandant que, s'il était possible, cette heure s'éloignât de lui.
36 and He said, "Abba! my Father! all things are possible for Thee: take this cup of suffering away from me: and yet not what I desire, but what Thou desirest."
Il disait: Abba, Père, toutes choses te sont possibles; détourne de moi cette coupe; toutefois, non ce que je veux, mais ce que tu veux.
37 Then He came and found them asleep, and He said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Had you not strength to keep awake a single hour?
Puis il revint et les trouva endormis; et il dit à Pierre: Simon, tu dors! Tu n'as pu veiller une heure?
38 Be wakeful, all of you, and keep on praying, that you may not come into temptation: the spirit is right willing, but the body is frail."
Veillez et priez, afin que vous ne tombiez pas dans la tentation; l'esprit est plein de bonne volonté, mais la chair est faible.
39 He again went away and prayed, using the very same words.
Il s'en alla de nouveau, et il pria, disant les mêmes paroles.
40 When He returned He again found them asleep, for they were very tired; and they knew not how to answer Him.
Étant revenu, il les trouva encore endormis; car leurs yeux étaient appesantis. Et ils ne savaient que lui répondre.
41 A third time He came, and then He said, "Sleep on and rest. Enough! the hour has come. Even now they are betraying the Son of Man into the hands of sinful men.
Il revint pour la troisième fois, et il leur dit: Vous dormez maintenant, et vous vous reposez! C'est assez; l'heure est venue! Le Fils de l'homme va être livré entre les mains des pécheurs.
42 Rouse yourselves, let us be going: my betrayer is close at hand."
Levez-vous, allons! Voici que celui qui me trahit s'approche.
43 Immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, came and with him a crowd of men armed with swords and cudgels, sent by the High Priests and Scribes and Elders.
Aussitôt, comme Jésus parlait encore, Judas, l'un des Douze, survint, et avec lui une grande troupe de gens armés d'épées et de bâtons, envoyés par les principaux sacrificateurs, les scribes et les anciens.
44 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them. "The one I kiss," he said, "is the man: lay hold of him, and take him safely away."
Or, celui qui le trahissait était convenu avec eux de ce signe: Celui à qui je donnerai un baiser, c'est lui; saisissez-le, et emmenez-le sous bonne garde.
45 So he came, and going straight to Jesus he said, "Rabbi!" and kissed Him with seeming affection;
Aussitôt donc que Judas fut arrivé, il s'approcha de lui et lui dit: Maître! Et il lui donna un baiser.
46 whereupon they laid hands on Him and held Him firmly.
Alors ils mirent la main sur Jésus et le saisirent.
47 But one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck a blow at the High Priest's servant, cutting off his ear.
Un de ceux qui étaient là tira son épée, en frappa le serviteur du souverain sacrificateur, et il lui emporta l'oreille.
48 "Have you come out," said Jesus, "with swords and cudgels to arrest me, as if you had to fight with a robber?
Jésus, prenant la parole, leur dit: Vous êtes sortis avec des épées et des bâtons pour me prendre, comme si j'étais un brigand.
49 Day after day I used to be among you in the Temple teaching, and you never seized me. But this is happening in order that the Scriptures may be fulfilled.'
J'étais tous les jours au milieu de vous, enseignant dans le temple, et vous ne m'avez pas arrêté; mais cela est arrivé, afin que les Écritures fussent accomplies.
50 Then His friends all forsook Him and fled.
Alors tous l'abandonnèrent et s'enfuirent.
51 One youth indeed did follow Him, wearing only a linen cloth round his bare body. Of him they laid hold,
Il y avait un jeune homme qui le suivait, n'ayant qu'un drap sur le corps; et ils le saisirent.
52 but he left the linen cloth in their hands and fled without it.
Mais lui, laissant le drap, s'échappa nu de leurs mains.
53 So they led Jesus away to the High Priest, and with him there assembled all the High Priests, Elders, and Scribes.
Ils emmenèrent Jésus chez le souverain sacrificateur, où se réunirent tous les principaux sacrificateurs, les anciens et les scribes.
54 Peter followed Jesus at a distance, as far as the outer court of the High Priest's palace. But there he remained sitting among the officers, and warming himself by the fire.
Pierre le suivit de loin jusque dans la cour intérieure du souverain sacrificateur; et, s'étant assis auprès du feu avec les gardes, il se chauffait.
55 Meanwhile the High Priests and the entire Sanhedrin were endeavouring to get evidence against Jesus in order to put Him to death, but could find none;
Or, les principaux sacrificateurs et tout le Sanhédrin cherchaient quelque témoignage contre Jésus pour le faire mourir, et ils n'en trouvaient point.
56 for though many gave false testimony against Him, their statements did not tally.
Car plusieurs portaient de faux témoignages contre lui; mais leurs dépositions ne s'accordaient pas.
57 Then some came forward as witnesses and falsely declared,
Alors quelques-uns se levèrent, qui portèrent contre lui ce faux témoignage:
58 "We have heard him say, 'I will pull down this Sanctuary built by human hands, and three days afterwards I will erect another built without hands.'"
Nous lui avons entendu dire: Je détruirai ce temple, fait de main d'homme, et en trois jours j'en bâtirai un autre, qui ne sera pas fait de main d'homme.
59 But not even in this shape was their testimony consistent.
Mais, même sur ce point, leurs témoignages ne s'accordaient pas.
60 At last the High Priest stood up, and advancing into the midst of them all, asked Jesus, "Have you no answer to make? What is the meaning of all this that these witnesses allege against you?"
Alors le souverain sacrificateur se levant au milieu de l'assemblée, interrogea Jésus et lui dit: Ne réponds-tu rien à ce que ces hommes déposent contre toi?
61 But He remained silent, and gave no reply. A second time the High Priest questioned Him. "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?" he said.
Mais Jésus garda le silence et ne répondit rien. Le souverain sacrificateur l'interrogea encore, et lui dit: C'est toi qui es le Christ, le Fils du Dieu béni?
62 "I am," replied Jesus, "and you and others will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the divine Power, and coming amid the clouds of the sky."
Jésus lui dit: Je le suis! Vous verrez le Fils de l'homme assis à la droite de la puissance de Dieu, et venant au milieu des nuées du ciel.
63 Rending his garments the High Priest exclaimed, "What need have we of witnesses after that?
Alors le souverain sacrificateur déchira ses vêtements et dit: Qu'avons-nous encore besoin de témoins?
64 You all heard his impious words. What is your judgement?" Then with one voice they condemned Him as deserving of death.
Vous avez entendu le blasphème? Que vous en semble? Tous le déclarèrent coupable et digne de mort.
65 Thereupon some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, while striking Him with their fists and crying, "Prove that you are a prophet." The officers too struck Him with open hands as they took Him in charge.
Quelques-uns se mirent à cracher sur lui, à lui couvrir le visage et à lui donner des coups de poing; et ils lui disaient: Prophétise! Et les gardes lui donnaient des coups de bâton.
66 Now while Peter was below in the quadrangle, one of the High Priest's maidservants came,
Comme Pierre était en bas dans la cour, l'une des servantes du souverain sacrificateur y vint;
67 and seeing Peter warming himself she looked at him and said, "You also were with Jesus, the Nazarene."
et, voyant Pierre qui se chauffait, elle le regarda et lui dit: Toi aussi, tu étais avec Jésus de Nazareth!
68 But he denied it, and said, "I don't know--I don't understand--What do you mean?" And then he went out into the outer court. Just then a cock crowed.
Mais il le nia et dit: Je ne sais pas, je ne comprends pas ce que tu veux dire. Puis il s'en alla dans le vestibule, et le coq chanta.
69 Again the maidservant saw him, and again began to say to the people standing by, "He is one of them."
Cette servante, l'ayant vu, se mit encore à dire à ceux qui étaient présents: Cet homme est bien de ces gens-là!
70 A second time he repeatedly denied it. Soon afterwards the bystanders again accused Peter, saying, "You are surely one of them, for you too are a Galilaean."
Mais il le nia de nouveau. Un peu après, ceux qui étaient présents dirent à Pierre: Assurément, tu es de ces gens-là; car tu es Galiléen.
71 But he broke out into curses and oaths, declaring, "I know nothing of the man you are talking about."
Alors il se mit à proférer des malédictions accompagnées de serments, en disant: Je ne connais point cet homme dont vous parlez!
72 No sooner had he spoken than a cock crowed for the second time, and Peter recollected the words of Jesus, "Before the cock crows twice, you will three times disown me." And as he thought of it, he wept aloud.
Aussitôt, le coq chanta pour la seconde fois; et Pierre se ressouvint de la parole que Jésus lui avait dite: Avant que le coq ait chanté deux fois, tu me renieras trois fois. Et à cette pensée, il se mit à pleurer.
