< John 16 >

1 "These things I have spoken to you in order to clear stumbling-blocks out of your path.
Gauça hauc erran drauzquiçuet scandaliza etzaiteztençát:
2 You will be excluded from the synagogues; nay more, the time is coming when any one who has murdered one of you will suppose he is offering service to God.
Egotziren çaituzte synagoguetaric: baina ethorriren da demborá non norc-ere hilen baitzaituzte vste vkanen baitu cerbitzu eguiten draucala Iaincoari.
3 And they will do these things because they have failed to recognize the Father and to discover who I am.
Eta gauça hauc eguinen drauzquiçue, ceren ezpaitute eçagutu Aita, ez ni.
4 But I have spoken these things to you in order that when the time for their accomplishment comes you may remember them, and may recollect that I told you. I did not, however, tell you all this at first, because I was still with you.
Baina gauça hauc erran drauzquiçuet cuey, ordu hura ethorri datenean, orhoit çaiteztençat heçaz, ecen nic erran drauzquiçuedala: badaric-ere gauça hauc hatseandanic eztrauzquiçuet erran, ceren çuequin bainincén.
5 But now I an returning to Him who sent me; and not one of you asks me where I am going.
Baina orain banoa ni igorri nauenaganát, eta çuetaric nehorc eznau interrogatzan, Norat oha?
6 But grief has filled your hearts because I have said all this to you.
Baina ceren gauca hauc erran drauzquiçuedan, tristitiác bethe du çuen bihotza,
7 "Yet it is the truth that I am telling you--it is to your advantage that I go away. For unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
Baina nic eguia erraiten drauçuet, behar duçue ni ioan nadin: ecen baldin ioan ezpanadi, Consolaçalea ezta ethorriren çuetara: baina baldin ioan banadi, igorriren dut hura çuetara.
8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world in respect of sin, of righteousness, and of judgement; --
Eta dathorrenean harc vençuturen du mundua bekatuz eta iustitiaz eta iugemenduz.
9 of sin, because they do not believe in me;
Bekatuz diot, ceren ezpaitute ni baithan sinhesten.
10 of righteousness, because I am going to the Father, and you will no longer see me;
Eta iustitiaz, ceren neure Aitaganát ioaiten bainaiz, eta guehiagoric eznauçue ikussiren.
11 of judgement, because the Prince of this world is under sentence.
Eta iugemenduz, ceren mundu hunetaco princea condemnatu baita.
12 "I have much more to say to you, but you are unable at present to bear the burden of it.
Oraino anhitz gauça dut çuey erraiteco, baina ecin egar ditzaqueçue orain.
13 But when He has come--the Spirit of Truth--He will guide you into all the truth. For He will not speak as Himself originating what He says, but all that He hears He will speak, and He will make known the future to you.
Baina dathorrenean hura, Spiritu eguiazcoa diot, harc guidaturen çaituzte eguia gucitara: ecen ezta minçaturen bere buruz, baina cer-ere ençun baituque erranen du: eta ethorteco diraden gauçác declaraturen drauzquiçue.
14 He will glorify me, because He will take of what is mine and will make it known to you.
Harc nau glorificaturen: ecen enetic harturen du, eta declaraturen drauçue.
15 Everything that the Father has is mine; that is why I said that the Spirit of Truth takes of what is mine and will make it known to you.
Aitac dituen gauça guciac, ene dirade: halacotz erran drauçuet ecen enetic harturen duela eta declaraturen drauçuela.
16 "A little while and you see me no more, and again a little while and you shall see me."
Dembora gutibat, eta eznauçue ikussiren: eta berriz dembora gutibat, eta ikussiren nauçue: ecen ni banoa Aitaganát.
17 Some of His disciples therefore said to one another, "What does this mean which He is telling us, 'A little while and you do not see me, and again a little while and you shall see me,' and 'Because I am going to the Father'?"
Erran ceçaten bada haren discipuluetaric batzuc elkarren artean, Cer da erraiten draucun haur, Dembora gutibat, eta eznauçue ikussiren: eta berriz dembora gutibat, eta ikussiren nauçue: eta, Ecen ni banoa Aitaganát.
18 So they asked one another repeatedly, "What can that 'little while' mean which He speaks of? We do not understand His words."
Erraiten çuten bada, Cer da erraiten duen haur dembora gutibat? eztaquigu cer erraiten duen
19 Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask Him, and He said, "Is this what you are questioning one another about--my saying, 'A little while and you do not see me, and again a little while and you shall see me'?
Eçagut ceçan bada Iesusec ecen interrogatu nahi çutela, eta erran ciecén, Elkarren artean huneçaz galdez çaudete, ceren erran baitut, Dembora gutibat eta eznauçue ikussiren: eta berriz dembora gutibat eta ikussiren nauçue.
20 In most solemn truth I tell you that you will weep aloud and lament, but the world will be glad. You will mourn, but your grief will be turned into gladness.
Eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauçuet, nigar eta lamentatione eguinen duçue çuec, eta mundua bozturen da: eta çuec triste içanen çarete, baina çuen tristitiá conuertituren da bozcariotara.
21 A woman, when she is in labour, has sorrow, because her time has come. But when she has given birth to the babe, she no longer remembers the pain, because of her joy at a child being born into the world.
Emazteac, ertzen denean dolore du, ceren haren ordua ethorri baita: baina erdi denean haourtcho batez, guehiagoric ezta doloreaz orhoit, bozcarioz ceren guiçombat mundura iayo daten.
22 So you also now have sorrow; but I shall see you again, and your hearts will be glad, and your gladness no one will take away from you.
Çuec-ere bada orain tristitia duçue: baina harçara ikussiren çaituztet, eta çuen bihotza alegueraturen da, eta çuen alegrançá eztu nehorc edequiren çuetaric.
23 You will put no questions to me then. "In most solemn truth I tell you that whatever you ask the Father for in my name He will give you.
Eta egun hartan eznauçue deusez interrogaturen. Eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauçuet ecen cer-ere escaturen baitzaizquiote ene Aitari ene icenean, emanen drauçuela.
24 As yet you have not asked for anything in my name: ask, and you shall receive, that your hearts may be filled with gladness.
Oraindrano etzarete deus escatu ene icenean: esca çaitezte, eta recebituren duçue, çuen alegrançá complitua dençát.
25 "All this I have spoken to you in veiled language. The time is coming when I shall no longer speak to you in veiled language, but will tell you about the Father in plain words.
Gauça hauc comparationez erran drauzquiçuet: baina ethorten da ordua ezpainaitzaiçue guehiagoric comparationez minçaturen, baina claroqui neure Aitaz minçaturen bainaitzaiçue.
26 At that time you will make your requests in my name; and I do not promise to ask the Father on your behalf,
Egun hartan ene icenean escaturen çarete, eta eztrauçuet erraiten ecen nic othoitz eguinen draucadala Aitari çuengatic.
27 for the Father Himself holds you dear, because you have held me dear and have believed that I came from the Father's presence.
Ecen Aitac berac maite çaituzte, ceren çuec ni maite vkan bainauçue, eta sinhetsi baituçue ecen Iaincoaganic ilki naicela.
28 I came from the Father and have come into the world. Again I am leaving the world and am going to the Father."
Ilki naiz Aitaganic, eta ethorri naiz mundura: harçara vtziten dut mundua, eta banoa Aitaganát.
29 "Ah, now you are using plain language," said His disciples, "and are uttering no figure of speech!
Diotsate bere discipuluéc, Huná, orain claroqui minço aiz, eta comparationeric batre eztuc erraiten.
30 Now we know that you have all knowledge, and do not need to be pressed with questions. Through this we believe that you came from God."
Orain baceaquiagu ecen badaquizquiala gauça guciac, eta eztuc mengoa nehorc interroga açan: huneçaz diagu sinhesten ecen Iaincoaganic ilki aicela.
31 "Do you at last believe?" replied Jesus.
Ihardets ciecen Iesusec, Orain sinhesten duçue?
32 "Remember that the time is coming, nay, has already come, for you all to be dispersed each to his own home and to leave me alone. And yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.
Huná, ethorten da ordua, eta ia ethorri da, barreyaturen baitzarete batbedera cein çuenetarát, eta ni neuror vtziren bainauçue: baina eznaiz neuror: ecen Aita enequin da.
33 "I have spoken all this to you in order that in me you may have peace. In the world you have affliction. But keep up your courage: I have won the victory over the world."
Gauça hauc erran drauzquiçuet, nitan baque duçuençat: munduan afflictione vkanen duçue: baina auçue bihotz on, ni munduari garaithu natzayo.
