Luke 20
1 And it came to pass, [that] on one of those days, as he was teaching the people in the temple, and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon [him], with the elders,
Un día en que Él enseñaba al pueblo en el Templo, anunciando el Evangelio, se hicieron presentes los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas con los ancianos,
2 And spoke to him, saying, Tell us, By what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?
y le dijeron: “Dinos, ¿con qué autoridad haces esto, o quién es el que te ha dado esa potestad?”
3 And he answered and said to them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me:
Respondioles diciendo: “Yo quiero, a mi vez, haceros una pregunta. Decidme:
4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men?
El bautismo de Juan ¿venía del cielo o de los hombres?”
5 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?
Entonces ellos discurrieron así en sí mismos: “Si contestamos: «del cielo», dirá: «¿Por qué no le creísteis?»
6 But if we say, From men; all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.
Y si decimos: «de los hombres», el pueblo todo entero nos apedreará, porque está convencido de que Juan era profeta”.
7 And they answered, that they could not tell whence [it was].
Por lo cual respondieron no saber de dónde.
8 And Jesus said to them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.
Y Jesús les dijo: “Ni Yo tampoco os digo con cuál potestad hago esto”.
9 Then he began to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.
Y se puso a decir al pueblo esta parábola: “Un hombre plantó una viña, y la arrendó a unos labradores, y se ausentó por un largo tiempo.
10 And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent [him] away empty.
En su oportunidad envió un servidor a los trabajadores, a que le diesen del fruto de la viña. Pero los labradores lo apalearon y lo devolvieron vacío.
11 And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and treated [him] shamefully, and sent [him] away empty.
Envió aún otro servidor; también a este lo apalearon, lo ultrajaron y lo devolvieron vacío.
12 And again he sent the third: and they wounded him also, and cast [him] out.
Les envió todavía un tercero a quien igualmente lo hirieron y lo echaron fuera.
13 Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be when they see him they will reverence him.
Entonces, el dueño de la viña dijo: “¿Qué haré? Voy a enviarles a mi hijo muy amado; tal vez a Él lo respeten”.
14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.
Pero, cuando lo vieron los labradores deliberaron unos con otros diciendo: “Este es el heredero. Matémoslo, para que la herencia sea nuestra”.
15 So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed [him]. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do to them?
Lo sacaron, pues, fuera de la viña y lo mataron. ¿Qué hará con ellos el dueño de la viña?
16 He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others. And when they heard [it], they said, may that never be.
Vendrá y hará perecer a estos labradores, y entregará la viña a otros”. Ellos, al oír, dijeron: “¡Jamás tal cosa!”
17 And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?
Pero Él, fija la mirada sobre ellos, dijo: “¿Qué es aquello que está escrito: «La piedra que desecharon los que edificaban, esa resultó cabeza de esquina?»
18 Whoever shall fall upon that stone, shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
Todo el que cayere sobre esta piedra, quedará hecho pedazos; y a aquel sobre quien ella cayere, lo hará polvo”.
19 And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.
Entonces los escribas y los sumos sacerdotes trataban de echarle mano en aquella misma hora, pero tuvieron miedo del pueblo; porque habían comprendido bien, que para ellos había dicho esta parábola.
20 And they watched [him], and sent forth spies, who should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him to the power and authority of the governor.
Mas no lo perdieron de vista y enviaron unos espías que simulasen ser justos, a fin de sorprenderlo en sus palabras, y así poder entregarlo a la potestad y a la jurisdicción del gobernador.
21 And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person [of any], but teachest the way of God truly:
Le propusieron, pues, esta cuestión: “Maestro, sabemos que Tú hablas y enseñas con rectitud y que no haces acepción de persona, sino que enseñas el camino de Dios según la verdad.
22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Cesar, or not?
¿Nos es lícito pagar el tributo al César o no?”
23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them, Why tempt ye me?
Pero Él, conociendo su perfidia, les dijo:
24 Show me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Cesar's.
Mostradme un denario. ¿De quién lleva la figura y la leyenda?” Respondieron: “Del César”.
25 And he said to them, Render therefore to Cesar the things which are Cesar's, and to God the things which are God's.
Les dijo: “Así pues, pagad al César lo que es del César, y lo que es de Dios, a Dios”.
26 And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marveled at his answer, and held their peace.
Y no lograron sorprenderlo en sus palabras delante del pueblo; y maravillados de su respuesta callaron.
27 Then came to [him] certain of the Sadducees (who deny that there is any resurrection) and they asked him,
Acercáronse, entonces, algunos saduceos, los cuales niegan la resurrección, y le interrogaron diciendo:
28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote to us, If any man's brother should die, having a wife, and he should die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed to his brother.
“Maestro, Moisés nos ha prescripto, que si el hermano de alguno muere dejando mujer sin hijo, su hermano debe casarse con la mujer, para dar posteridad al hermano.
29 There were therefore seven brothers: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
Éranse, pues, siete hermanos. El primero tomó mujer, y murió sin hijo.
30 And the second took her for a wife, and he died childless.
El segundo,
31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: And they left no children, and died.
y después el tercero, la tomaron, y así ( sucesivamente ) los siete que murieron sin dejar hijo.
32 Last of all the woman died also.
Finalmente murió también la mujer.
33 Therefore in the resurrection, whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
Esta mujer, en la resurrección, ¿de quién vendrá a ser esposa? porque los siete la tuvieron por mujer”.
34 And Jesus answering, said to them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: (aiōn g165)
Díjoles Jesús: “Los hijos de este siglo toman mujer, y las mujeres son dadas en matrimonio; (aiōn g165)
35 But they who shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage. (aiōn g165)
mas los que hayan sido juzgados dignos de alcanzar el siglo aquel y la resurrección de entre los muertos, no tomarán mujer, y ( las mujeres ) no serán dadas en matrimonio, (aiōn g165)
36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal to the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
porque no pueden ya morir, pues son iguales a los ángeles, y son hijos de Dios, siendo hijos de la resurrección.
37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
En cuanto a que los muertos resucitan, también Moisés lo dio a entender junto a la zarza, al nombrar al Señor “Dios de Abrahán, Dios de Isaac y Dios de Jacob”.
38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live to him.
Porque, no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos, pues todos para Él viven”.
39 Then certain of the scribes answering, said, Master, thou hast well said.
Sobre lo cual, algunos escribas le dijeron: “Maestro, has hablado bien”.
40 And after that, they durst not ask him any question at all.
Y no se atrevieron a interrogarlo más.
41 And he said to them, How say they that Christ is David's son?
Pero Él les dijo: “¿Cómo dicen que el Cristo es hijo de David?
42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
Porque David mismo dice en el libro de los Salmos: «El Señor dijo a mi Señor: “Siéntate a mi diestra,
43 Till I make thy enemies thy footstool.
hasta que Yo ponga a tus enemigos por escabel de tus pies”».
44 David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?
Así, pues, David lo llama “Señor”; entonces, ¿cómo es su hijo?”.
45 Then in the audience of all the people, he said to his disciples,
En presencia de todo el pueblo, dijo a sus discípulos:
46 Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;
“Guardaos de los escribas, que se complacen en andar con largas vestiduras, y en ser saludados en las plazas públicas; que apetecen los primeros asientos en las sinagogas y los primeros divanes en los convites;
47 Who devour widows' houses, and for a show make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.
que devoran las casas de las viudas, y afectan orar largamente. ¡Para esas gentes será más abundante la sentencia!”
