< Zephaniah 1 >

1 The word of the LORD which came to Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.
Ma e wach mar Jehova Nyasaye mane obiro ne Zefania wuod Kushi, ma wuod Gedalia, ma wuod Amaria, ma wuod Hezekia e kinde loch Josia wuod Amon ruodh Juda.
2 I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the LORD.
“Abiro tieko gik moko duto mantie e piny mi lal nono,” Jehova Nyasaye owacho.
3 I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.
“Abiro tieko dhano kaachiel gi le, bende abiro tieko winy mafuyo e kor polo, kaachiel gi rech manie nam. Jomaricho biro pie pidhe pidhe, e ndalo manatiek dhano e wangʼ piny,” Jehova Nyasaye owacho.
4 I will also stretch out my hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;
“Abiro kumo jo-Juda kaachiel gi ji duto modak Jerusalem. Abiro tieko jo-Baal duto mane odongʼ ka, mi agol oko nying joma luwo nyiseche mopa kaachiel gi jodologi.
5 And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham;
Bende abiro tieko ji duto makulore ewi tat udi kalamo chiengʼ, dwe gi sulwe. Ji duto makulore ka kwongʼore gi nying Jehova Nyasaye, to bangʼe gikwongʼore gi nying Molek nyasach jo-Amon.
6 And them that have turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor enquired for him.
Ji duto moseweyo luwo Jehova Nyasaye, kendo ok gimany Jehova Nyasaye kata mana penje wach.”
7 Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath invited his guests.
Lingʼuru e nyim Jehova Nyasaye Manyalo Gik Moko Duto; nikech odiechiengʼ mar Jehova Nyasaye chiegni. Jehova Nyasaye oseloso misango, kendo osepwodho joma oseluongo.
8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD’S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.
“E odiechiengʼ mitimoe misango mar Jehova Nyasaye abiro kumo joka ruoth, yawuot ruoth, kaachiel gi ji duto morwakore gi lewni mag jopinje mamoko.
9 In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, who fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit.
Chiengʼno, anakum ji duto mamiel e laru mar dino cham, kendo mapongʼo hekalu mar nyiseche manono gi timbe mahundu kod wuond.”
10 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and a wailing from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.
Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Chiengʼno, ywak noywagre koa e rangach miluongo ni Dhoranga Rech, nduru noa e bath dala koma nyien, kendo koko nogore matek koa e gode.
11 Wail, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off.
Gouru nduru un joma odak e mier moluoro chiro, johala mau madongo duto ibiro yweyo oko, kendo ji duto maloko ohand pesa notiek pep.
12 And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.
E ndalono abiro menyo Jerusalem gi teche ka akumo joma odak kanyo madhi nyime gi timo timbe maricho, ma gin joma chalo mana gi divai mawach; ka giparo ni, ‘Jehova Nyasaye ok notim gimoro amora maber kata marach.’
13 Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine of them.
Mwandugi noyaki kendo utegi nomuki. Gibiro gero udi, to ok ginidagie, bende gibiro pitho puothe mzabibu to ok gini madh divai moa kuomgi.”
14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteneth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
“Odiechiengʼ maduongʼ mar Jehova Nyasaye chiegni, adier ochiegni kendo obiro piyo. Chik iti! Ywagruok e odiechieng Jehova Nyasaye nobed malit, kendo jolweny bende nogo koko kanyo.
15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasting and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
Odiechiengʼno nobed odiechieng mirima, enobed odiechieng mwodo lak kod rem malit, bende enobed odiechieng chandruok gi kethruok, enobed odiechiengʼ mopongʼ gi boche polo moimore, kendo odiechiengʼ mopongʼ gi rumbi kod mudho.
16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities, and against the high towers.
To bende enobed odiechieng turumbete kod sigich mar lweny nowinjre e mier madongo mochiel motegno, kod ute mabeyo mag rito dala.
17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
“Abiro kelo luoro kod achiedh-nade kuom oganda kendo gibiro wuotho mana ka muofni, nikech gisetimo richo e nyim Jehova Nyasaye. Rembgi nochwer piny kendo nyimbiye igi nopukre oko ka ngʼwe.
18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
To kata mana fedha mathoth kod dhahabu ma gin-go ok noresgi, odiechiengʼ mar mirimb Jehova Nyasaye. Chiengʼ ma Jehova Nyasaye ngʼadoe bura, nyiego mager ma en-go nowangʼ piny duto, mitiek pep.” Kamano e kaka notiek gik moko duto modak e piny mana kadiemo wangʼ.
