Romans 14

1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

തർക്കവിഷയങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു ശണ്ഠയിടാതെ വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ ബലഹീനരായവരെ അംഗീകരിക്കുക.

2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

എല്ലാം ഭക്ഷിക്കാമെന്ന് ഒരാൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ ബലഹീനരായിരിക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തിയോ സസ്യാഹാരംമാത്രം ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him who eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

എല്ലാം ഭക്ഷിക്കാം എന്നു കരുതുന്നയാൾ ഭക്ഷിക്കാത്തയാളെ പുച്ഛിക്കരുത്; ഭക്ഷിക്കാത്തയാൾ ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നയാളെ കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്താനും പാടില്ല. കാരണം, അയാളും ദൈവത്തിനു സ്വീകാര്യനാണ്.

4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. And, he shall be held up: for God is able to make him stand.

മറ്റൊരാളുടെ ദാസനെ വിമർശിക്കാൻ എന്ത് അധികാരമാണ് നിനക്കുള്ളത്? അയാൾ നിന്നാലും വീണാലും അവന്റെ സ്വന്തം യജമാനനുതന്നെ. അയാളെ ഉറപ്പിച്ചുനിർത്താൻ ശക്തനായ കർത്താവ് അയാളെ ഉറപ്പിച്ചുനിർത്തുകതന്നെ ചെയ്യും.

5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

ഒരാൾ ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ മറ്റൊരു ദിവസത്തെക്കാൾ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായി കരുതുന്നു; മറ്റൊരാളാകട്ടെ, എല്ലാ ദിവസത്തെയും ഒരുപോലെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായി പരിഗണിക്കുന്നു. ഓരോരുത്തരും ചെയ്യുന്നത് അവരവരുടെ ഉത്തമബോധ്യമനുസരിച്ച് ആയിരിക്കണം.

6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it to the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ മറ്റു ദിവസങ്ങളെക്കാൾ മാനിക്കുന്നയാൾ കർത്താവിനുവേണ്ടി അതു ചെയ്യുന്നു; മാംസാഹാരിയും ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നത് കർത്താവിനുവേണ്ടി. കാരണം, ദൈവത്തിനു നന്ദി അർപ്പിച്ചിട്ടാണല്ലോ അവർ ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നത്. അതുപോലെ, മാംസം ഭക്ഷിക്കാത്തവരും കർത്താവിനുവേണ്ടി ഭക്ഷിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നു. അവരും ദൈവത്തിനു സ്തോത്രംചെയ്യുന്നു.

7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

നമ്മിൽ ആരും നമുക്കായി ജീവിക്കുന്നില്ല; നമുക്കായിത്തന്നെ മരിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

8 For whether we live, we live to the Lord; and whether we die, we die to the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.

നാം ജീവിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ കർത്താവിനായി ജീവിക്കുന്നു; മരിക്കുന്നെങ്കിലോ കർത്താവിനായി മരിക്കുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട്, ജീവിച്ചാലും മരിച്ചാലും നാം കർത്താവിനുള്ളവരാണ്.

9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and the living.

ഇങ്ങനെ, മരിച്ചവരുടെയും ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവരുടെയും കർത്താവായിരിക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടിയാണ് ക്രിസ്തു മരിക്കുകയും ഉയിർക്കുകയുംചെയ്തത്.

10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou show contempt for thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

പിന്നെന്തിനാണ് നീ സഹവിശ്വാസിയെ ന്യായം വിധിക്കുന്നത്? സഹവിശ്വാസിയെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നതും എന്തിന്? നാം എല്ലാവരും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായാസനത്തിനു മുമ്പാകെ നിൽക്കേണ്ടവരാണെന്ന് ഓർക്കുക.

11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

“കർത്താവ് ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു, ‘ജീവനുള്ള ഞാൻ ശപഥംചെയ്യുന്നു, എന്റെമുമ്പിൽ എല്ലാ മുഴങ്കാലും വണങ്ങും; എല്ലാ നാവും ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിച്ച് ഏറ്റുപറയും’” എന്നു തിരുവെഴുത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നല്ലോ.

12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

അതേ, നാം വ്യക്തിപരമായി ദൈവത്തോട് കണക്കു ബോധിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടവരാണ്.

13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

അതുകൊണ്ട് നാം ഇനിമേൽ പരസ്പരം ന്യായംവിധിക്കാതിരിക്കാം. പകരം, സഹോദരങ്ങൾക്ക് വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ ഇടർച്ചയ്ക്കു കാരണമാകുന്ന തടസ്സമോ അവർ പാപത്തിൽ വീഴുന്നതിനു കാരണമായിത്തീരുന്ന കെണിയോ വെക്കുകയില്ല എന്നു തീരുമാനിക്കാം.

14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean by itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

കർത്താവായ യേശുവിൽ എനിക്കു ലഭിച്ച അധികാരത്താൽ ഒരു കാര്യം ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞും അതേക്കുറിച്ചു ദൃഢനിശ്ചയമുള്ളവനായുമിരിക്കുന്നു: ഒരു ഭക്ഷണവും സ്വതവേ അശുദ്ധമല്ല; എന്നാൽ, ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരു ഭക്ഷണപദാർഥം അശുദ്ധമാണെന്ന് ഒരാൾ വിചാരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ അത് അയാൾക്ക് അശുദ്ധംതന്നെയാണ്.

15 But if thy brother is grieved with thy food, now walkest thou not in love. Destroy not him with thy food, for whom Christ died.

നിന്റെ ഭക്ഷണംമൂലം സഹോദരങ്ങൾക്കു വ്യസനം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങൾ സ്നേഹത്തിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്നില്ല. ക്രിസ്തു ആർക്കുവേണ്ടി മരിച്ചുവോ ആ ആൾക്കു നിന്റെ ഭക്ഷണം നാശകരമാകരുത്.

16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

ഇങ്ങനെചയ്താൽ നീ നന്മയെന്നു പരിഗണിക്കുന്നവ മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ തിന്മയായിത്തീരുകയില്ല.

17 For the kingdom of God is not food and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

ദൈവരാജ്യം അനുഭവിക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നത് ഭക്ഷണപാനീയങ്ങളിലൂടെയല്ല; മറിച്ച്, നീതിയിലൂടെയും സമാധാനത്തിലൂടെയും പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നൽകുന്ന ആനന്ദത്തിലൂടെയുമാണ്.

18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved by men.

മേൽപ്പറഞ്ഞപ്രകാരം ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ സേവിക്കുന്നയാൾ ദൈവപ്രസാദവും മനുഷ്യസ്വീകാര്യതയും ഉള്ളയാൾ ആയിരിക്കും.

19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things which one may edify another.

അതുകൊണ്ട് സമാധാനത്തിനും പരസ്പര ആത്മികാഭിവൃദ്ധിക്കും ഉതകുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങൾക്കായി നമുക്ക് പ്രയത്നിക്കാം.

20 For the sake of food destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

ഭക്ഷണം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയെ ശിഥിലമാക്കാൻ കാരണമാകരുത്. എല്ലാം ശുദ്ധമാണ്, എന്നാൽ ഒരു വസ്തു ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ സഹവിശ്വാസി പാപത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ആ ഭക്ഷണം അശുദ്ധമാണ്.

21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing by which thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

മാംസം തിന്നാതെയും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കാതെയും നിന്റെ സഹവിശ്വാസിയെ പാപത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കുന്നതൊന്നും ചെയ്യാതെയും ഇരിക്കുന്നതാണ് നല്ലത്.

22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in what he approveth.

ഈ വിഷയത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള നിന്റെ വിശ്വാസം നീയും ദൈവവുമായുള്ള ഒരു കാര്യമായി ചിന്തിക്കുക. ഒരാൾ ശരിയെന്ന് അംഗീകരിച്ചു പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത് അയാൾക്കു കുറ്റബോധം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നില്ല എങ്കിൽ ആ വ്യക്തി അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ.

23 And he that doubteth is condemned if he eateth, because he eateth not from faith: for whatever is not from faith is sin.

എന്നാൽ, സന്ദേഹത്തോടെ ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നയാൾ അത് ഉത്തമവിശ്വാസത്തോടുകൂടിയല്ല ചെയ്യുന്നത് എന്നതുകൊണ്ട് കുറ്റക്കാരനാണ്. ശരിയാണെന്ന ഉത്തമവിശ്വാസത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഉത്ഭവിക്കാത്തതെല്ലാം പാപമാണ്.
