Psalms 76

1 To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song of Asaph. In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

A karmesternek, hárfajátékon. Zsoltár Ászáftól. Ének. Ismeretes az Isten Jehúdában, Izraélben nagy a neve.

2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

Sálémben van az ő sátora és hajléka Cziónban.

3 There he broke the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. (Selah)

Ott törte össze az íj villámait, paizsot és kardot és a harczot. Széla.

4 Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

Tündöklő vagy, hatalmas, a ragadmány hegyei felől.

5 The stout hearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.

Kifosztattak az erős szivűek, szendergik álmukat, és nem találták kezüket mind a had emberei.

6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

Dorgálásodtól, Jákób Istene, mélyen alszik mind a szekérhad, mind a ló.

7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

Te félelmetes vagy, s ki állhat meg előtted, mihelyt haragszol!

8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

Az égből hallattál ítéletet, a föld megfélemlett és lecsendesedett,

9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. (Selah)

midőn fölkelt Isten a törvényre, hogy megsegítse mind a föld alázatosait. Széla.

10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

Mert az emberek dühe magasztal téged, midőn maradékuk dühösségbe övezkedik.

11 Vow, and pay to the LORD your God: let all that are about him bring presents to him that ought to be feared.

Tegyetek fogadást és fizessétek meg az Örökkévalónak, a ti Istenteknek; mind a körülőtte levők vigyenek ajándékot a félelmesnek,

12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

aki leszeli a fejedelmek indulatát, félelmetes a föld királyainak.
